So you paid half the price for a different brand. In what way is this generic?

This is a very highly rated knive sharpner in actual fact.

This is good sharpener for cheap knifes. Never use this on even half decent knifes, because it's not actually sharpening but just strips layers, literally peel scrapes layers of metal. Not much to some unique engineering solution, so I see why generic ones would do same knife ruining job. Good just for throw away knifes.

Which one do you recommend for global knives?

Don't get me wrong, I'm no expert in knifes. But my point and was that even not expert eye can see that these sharpeners are knife killers. I suppose for expensive knifes best "sharpener" is at least a couple different grade sharpening stones.

Because these knive sharpeners come up just the same but with a different name printed on the front and have been half the price

I have gone back nearly 2 years on this site and this item has never been half the price.

Thanks for your comments
These have been as low as £4.50.

Most people buy cheap crap knifes, I suspect that's the case even more on this website where deals for crap knife sets get posted regularly.

These are fine for 90% of the people who are only going to shove their knifes in the dishwasher and cut on glass chopping boards anyway.
I Bought one from Amazon 3 years ago ,they were selling for roundabout £3.75 posted.
Now i have to agree with the other comments its a short term fix & only good for cheap knives as it strips the edge away.
If you have good knives i would advise you to use an oil stone.
I tried one of these and while it is fine it did seem a bit harsh so I returned it and bought this instead which has been much better:

Lantana Smart Sharp Knife Sharpener - Professional 3 Stage Manual Sharpener for Sharpening Kitchen Knives - Ceramic Stone, Tungsten Carbide Plates, Diamond rods. Ergonomic Design, Black/Chrome Finish amazon.co.uk/dp/…RW1

Minimum order of 3 so nope.
I love this product for two reasons:
1. I own cheap knives; this keeps them sharp
2. The deal threads on here are always a treat

The only other difference is the expensive one has a heavier, metal base vs the blue plastic one.

You're very welcome. It amuses me to see people that are so defensive over deals they post. Maybe try to read what's posted before typing out a reply?

Not hard to spot, certainly not 2 years old! I got mine for under £4. They're only any use for getting an edge on cheap, rough knives.
Bad.
For decent sharpening use something like ruixin pro
