Awesome mobo.. Bricks easily without BIOS update though so please update.. Love this mobo. Corsair RAM is great and a good overclocker. I paid 150 for this Mobo in September. I don’t regret it. +5.48£ in postage apparently

Good deal, especially considering RAM prices
How do you update bios on this please
Just purchased this and an AMD Ryzen 7 1700 what a great price!
why does it break easily without an update? By default its always been that you should only update the bios if you really needed to where it would fix a certain issue that affected you.

Looks like a nice board though

what the speed of the ram if you overclocked it ?
Should add delivery price of £5.48 to the title. Heat added

The BIOS has 0 memory compatibility at launch and is unstable I spent 4 days fixing mine and had to speak to Gigabyte so please update..

Also great dual audio codecs on this

The best way to update bios IMO is to have a usb formatted to FAT32 and then google the mobo, go on gigabytes website download the Bios file copy the exe part (on WinRAR) and put into the USB. Plug that into the USB port and enter the Q flash menu using the END key then it will show on screen and is easy to update just click on update..

You could probably get to 3000mhz using 1.35V and custom timings (google them) but don’t count on it..

is there any different between a 3000mhz overclocked ram like this or buying "native" 3000mhz RAM?

It's not the best for memory stability, doesn't boot at all with XMP modes enabled. I have yet to get anything over 2133 to boot with 3200 RAM. Left at defaults though it has been rock solid.
This is a top deal

Surely u would want quicker ram for a Ryzen build
Awesome motherboard that bricks easily. Sounds awesome that yeah what a lovely feature to have.
Buying separately would cost around £220 so very nice deal, Some good reviews on the mobo on part picker too uk.pcpartpicker.com/pro…-k5
Sure I can send it back if I personally have any problems, but thanks for your concern 👌

The Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities affect EVERYONE, so you should absolutely be applying the updates released to address them. Also, UEFI updates these days are hassle free and done from within Windows.

That's a bit general. Spectre and Meltdown affect Intel. Spectre affects AMD both have patches released though the performance impact if felt on Intel a lot more than AMD.

You know the new chips are a week or two away?
Yes I do

I'm guessing 12 months after launch it isn't still shipping with the original BIOS?

My point is that major vulnerabilities were discovered that affect both platforms and EVERYONE should be updating their UEFI to protect their computers. I'm well aware that Intel is much more affected than AMD.

These days UEFI updates are quick and simple and there really isn't an excuse not to update them. Most decent motherboards, including this one, have dual-BIOS in the event that something happens during the update process. Let's not be encouraging people to avoid UEFI updates when they can provide critical security updates.
speaking as a Ryzen owner, I would highly recommend upgrading the BIOS regularly as the memory compatibility / stability, certainly in the early days was awful
Good for office work station. PC gaming is too expensive.
Stay clear, If you have to manually update the Bios this is a faulty board
The board does have some issues, it's fully featured but has short life span

Especially for Ryzen, which is VERY dependant on ram frequency. Bassically, SCAN is pushing down your throat 2 of the most unwanted pieces of hardware. I see no value here, sorry. This deal would be awesome for a mini-ITX Z370 board building on the i5 8400.

Not had chance to read the review yet but tweektown gave it 92% based on its review in December. Probably somewhat improved over when everybody else reviewed it in spring 2017. Pretty much all AM4 socket boards were rubbish when's first released.

I don't know of a single board that you don't manually update the bios, so not sure what you are on about.

The whole VRM construction and setup on this motherboards line-up is not properly done. They have been rushed. Just like they did when they released the Aorus RX480. Something shady happening at Gigabyte in the last 1-2 years. Used to be a strong brand, now I would not buy anything made by them.

What's wrong with the power delivery system exactly? It uses the usiversal IR35201 controller used on many X370 boards and a twin 4+2 design. While it's not an ideal setup for world record overclocking attempts it over kill for the overclock that can be achieved with a Ryzen CPU. The chips run out of clocks before the board is stressed. If you take that the cheapest place to buy the ram is Amazon at £88.81 you are only paying a net £88 for the board. I'm pretty sure it's worth that (based on price of other AM4 boards)

Yeah, my mistake. This board has mainly BIOS issues. The Gigabyte Z370 boards have VRM issues. They look identical, that confused me.
Really good deal. Upgrading end of this year so holding out.
Actually had to return this board today as it was DOA
