How's the noise cancelling like? On an eight hours flight next week, will this offer good sound cancellation or just a marketing gimmick?

There's no way these have active noise cancelling...
With headsets, they often mean a noise cancelling microphone but try to play it off as ANC.

Heat for the price though

Bought yesterday and got them delivered. As my first virtual surround headsets all I can say I would be amazed if you could get better for 8 quid! Just had a 30 min BF1 session and was great fun, really immersive and could hear movement around me.

I ordered a pair and had a brief go with them before going away...
There's no virtual surround or ANC but the sound quality is surprisingly good for such a cheap headset!
The 40mm drivers punch a very rich bass, to the slight detriment of the treble but this suits the purpose well (big game sounds).

I didn't get a chance to test the mic but I can imagine it doing quite well, being so close to your mouth...
I've had a few that have the mic in the ear cup or mid-way down the wire - they pick up a lot of ambient noise and don't pick up my deep voice very well.
I've just returned the official Playstation headset because of the poor mic positioning.

Top buy - thanks chapchap

I am now a fan of headsets and for less than 8 quid i am amazed at the value for money. Any problems later on then straight back to Amazon for a replacement. There is surround sound and how it worked for me was in BF1 via BF1s audio options....i can definitely hear things from all different angles...i can hear people running up to me from behind or walking across the floor above etc..which is a bit freaky.

Interesting... So the PS4 gamepad is capable of virtual surround or are you connecting these some other way?
I have a Turtle Beach DSS2 which turns any cans into Virtual Surround (needs optical connection) but I didn't think that Bluetooth 2.1 had enough bandwidth to carry 7.1 audio.

I might have to get out Finding Nemo blu ray as (along with many Pixar discs) it has a 7.1 audio test feature.

No sorry I am a PC gamer- usual 3.5 mm cables fare for the mic/headphones but the USB connector is for the lights and surround sound. I love sour round sound in FPS games esp. had a great gaming sessions last night. Has almost reinvented gaming for me- never really used headsets before.

Ah! Talking cross purposes
Your PC must have a virtual surround processor built into the sound card.

A headset is essential for FPS games - especially online shooters.
Sound whoring has saved my @55 sooo many times!
