I am in the lookout for a 24" Kids bike . Preferably Hybrid. Came across this bike. Can see good reviews on Halford's website. But prefer to get opinions from HUKD members.

According to Halfords 50% Off.

Blimey 16kg for a kids bike, that's one heavy lump of steel to haul around...could go either way, put off cycling for life or one fit kid

Actually 16kg is a pretty standard weight for a kids mountain bike, give or take a couple of kilogrammes. You'll probably notice more problems from the big fat nobbly tyres than the extra weight.

Once you move away from featherweight bikes into everyday mountain bikes, this is a "normal-ish" weight. Also, kids bikes don't differ too much from adult versions, especially at 24" wheels, there isn't that much "less bike" in reality!

This is similar and weighs in at 9kg, OK it's more than double the price, but shows that the use of an alloy frame/parts can make a big difference

I noticed another one Carrera Abyss and Falcon Tornado They are also 16kg+ Although Carrera Blast is 13kg. I was lookimg for Hybrid..Basically thinner tyres for easier riding on cycle trails etc..

Ta..But that's way over the budget unfortunately. Does anyone else know anything in this price range. Under 150£ ?

There's no rush either that is always half price at Halfords. It's not likely to go back up ....... Ever

Which bike did you go for in the end - and was it any good? Looking for something for my son who is only 6, but very tall for his age and has been fitted for a 24 inch wheel bike - so would like to get something a bit lighter than 16kg!
