do your kids a favour and buy them a lightweight bike. sorry, but Apollo bikes, although cheap, are too heavy for kids to enjoy fully. Buy something like an islabike. & no, I'm not a bike snob, just a sensible dad, and with this being a site for people who love good value, just do the sums- apollo bike worthless in 3 yrs time.....islabike, well, my daughter enjoyed it for 3 years before growing out of it, I kept it in good condition, then sold it on ebay for 60% of what I paid for it.

Appreciate Wirdy has given good advice above.

I'm in the market for a £100 or below bike therefore is the subject of this thread a good buy or is there anything better one should also look at sub £100?

You'd be saving cash (in the long term) by spending £119 and getting a B'Twin Poply 300:

yep, we have two BTwin's in the family and can vouch for the build quality and great value, if you can look beyond the brand name. Try before you buy though as some BTwin's are still quite heavy, gears & brakes are not made for small hands, compared to islabikes that are. You won't go far wrong with btwin though at half the cost of an equivalent isla & if you're on a budget.

wirdy is spot on in his appraisal. As a parent, this sort of information is invaluable.
