How is this installed? Is it wired into the mains?

38315694-qNCyN.jpgbased on this, I'd assume it's wired to your mains lighting circuit. It has a live and a neutral rather than a separate power source. Having said that, I'm not electrician so your untimely death is not my fault.

I can't imagine many people will have an office style suspended ceiling to fit one of these into.

These are also 5700k which is cold white and very stark, fine for an office but not nice in a home.
You can make one of these from recycled old laptop screen- tutorials are on youtube

Much of my home is lit with daylight (6500K), not for everyone but certainly nice. I'm finding more people moving away from warm yellow dirty lighting, YMMV.

Warm is gentle and easy on the eye, daylight is stark and unforgiving but great for precision work, neither is a dirty light.

More importantly than the unpopular colour temperature is that it can't be fitted to a normal ceiling without constructing some sort of frame to fit it into.

Yeah you'd have to wired it into the lighting circuit these aren't for domestic installation though unless you have have a drop ceiling in your bathroom?? I've installed similar before but you had to cut a square the same as the light out of the plasterboard then attach mounting brackets to the ceiling joints however it doesn't fit flush unless you have ~50mm of plasterboard.
