I saw this on Amazon for the price of £722, as I don't have that much knowledge of Macs I can't really write anymore but hope someone can say if this is a good deal or not.

P.S they only have 11 left in stock.

Hope this helps someone!

Edit: Only 1 left in stock!

If you guys don't mind imported macbooks then go ahead. I purchased one from amazon and it was imported from hong kong. Sent it back for a refund straight away.

This is not the retina one. Not really a deal for me.

what is the difference with this asian models?

Who says its Asian? It's fulfilled by Amazon. The new models are out next month so there are loads of deals going at the moment.

There is no confirmation that there are new ones coming out anytime soon.

er so what? FBA means amaZon do the storage and delivery logistics for the seller who provides them with appropriately barcoded packages.

If you don't mind purchasing it from other sellers, you can get it for as cheap as £711.29 here:

why! It will have the same warranty....where do you think apple stuff is made!

Where they're made is completely irrelevant.
But yeah, international warranty.
The only issue is you might not get a UK keyboard or power adapter.

Anyway, wheres the proof these are imports?

I can discern 5, maybe 6, Macs....I'm convinced.

And what are they all doing on their Mac's? Using Word and browsing on browsing.

I have no problem with Mac's, but if you're not using them to perform a function you can't do in something else that is a hell of a lot cheaper, then what's the point? If you're editing film/music/graphic design then by all means, go ahead, Apple have better software and set-ups for that.

I dunno, who cares, it just confuses me.

Heat added , seems a very good price to me and I need to upgrade from my 13 inch 5 year old macbook , my birthday in two weeks , seems ideal

Decent deal, and good if you're looking for a macbook with an optical drive - this is the last model to do so.

Not for me though, am looking for a retina macbook, which will also have 8gb.

Windows laptop is NOT cheaper. It actually ends up costing more in the long run cos no one will pay anything for a crusty 3 year old laptop but they pay top dollar for a used macbook.

I emailed the company and I can confirm these are imports with only one year warranty.
£899 in currys at the moment, I would rather pay the extra when your paying that kind of price.

£899 at John Lewis with 2 years warranty. If your not desperate to buy keep your eye on John Lewis as they have done a 3 yr warranty on occasion

I'm so glad they're killing this model, it was originally launched in 2012 so has an older processor, less graphics performance, worse battery life, a hard drive (in a machine that costs this much an SSD is a must), and a 1280x800 display which is a lower resolution than even the 11" macbook air.

TL;DR this model's worse than macbook air, despite the label.

Ahh sweeping generalisations. I got an excellent return for my used Alienware laptop.... always do when I upgrade.

All Apple products come with a one year warranty? It's no different. They are fulfilled by Amazon, that means it is subject to Sales of Goods act regardless of what Apple say.

Agreed. Most of these students could get by with a £150 chromebook, but instead spend over a grand on a macbook.

This is good deal bearing in mind the upcoming ones arnt ram upgradeable.. maybe even the harddisk too.

If you're looking to buy or upgrade your Mac, I'd wait till next year when the new range comes (possibly even slimmer).

It's good price but i'd rather buy UK stock if you need one now from Apple or even their Outlet / PCWorld or JL

But it has better colour reproduction than the air. The screen is lower resolution but higher quality.

It also has built in ethernet and firewire, and an ODD. It's swings and roundabouts - the MacBook Air isn't inherently "better" because it has a higher resolution screen.

Colour reproduction would be nice if you were going to edit photos say, for which you'd probably appreciate some resolution. As for firewire and ethernet, eh fair enough, but honestly what I'm getting at is that this is a really weird entry in apple's range because it's part of the pro range but has specs generally below their entry level stuff. The only frills as you say are a CD drive, firewire and ethernet port which no other macbook has... which further adds to its oddity.

£750 still very overpriced, no dedicated graphics card , low 4GB ram etc. Plenty of gullible fanboys/girls making Apple shareholders and executives very wealthy by buying overpriced hardware.

it's "inherently better" because everything about it is superior, the form factor, battery life, CPU, much faster storage, better graphics........

Cold, not a Surface Pro

Non Retina. Hot! I can replace the screen if it breaks.
