And this kind of arrogant, aloof, type of posting helps how?

p.s. I haven't voted on the deal either way.

Love macs but you could get a better deal using 10999AW 10% off £1000

Comet are already discount this by £100 as an Online special so a further £140 off is £1260 !!! and possibly quidco too!

Brilliant price, it's 1499 through Apple.

Comet must be losing BIG bucks on this as the mark up is c5% on apple reseller products.

Haters or not, this is the best price currently for anyone that 'does' want to buy this system.

Have some heat.

Indeed, it is a good price, I thought this was the reason why this web site existed. Why people have voted this cold, when it is a good deal fails me. Whats worrying me is that some are going to be voting on Thursday !!

Lol, you can't compare people voting on a very very overpriced MacBook to the election.

How is it overpriced?

Apple sell it for £1500, this is a HUGE chunk off!

and dont say you can buy/build a pc for 3p, this is not a PC, and will run OSX, iLife and Iwork, thats three bits of software I have to have alll wrapped up in a single slab of aluminium, with a look and build quaility that can not be equelled for even double the money.

Hot. Well worth the money if you can afford it

Oh, i must have some kind of super computer then? As i've used my ACER every day for about 4 years. I've been blessed by Jebus it seems...

Oh really how does OSx, ilife and iWork run on it?

A good deal for those who understand. Now, if my little 2007 MacBook would just stop performing perfectly I could upgrade. Maybe in a few years time.

Have some rep, good post

You can make a PC run MacOS X if you build it as a Hackintosh.

But, to be honest, who buys a Macbook for the OS? It's a load of rubbish really. It's all about the aesthetic, which I think is really great.

I buy a Macbook (Pro) for the OS as I don't want to mess about with the system and want to keep my licenses or I will loose out on a number of jobs!!

Mac's may not be for everyone but nobody said it is, just as some people prefer Linux over other systems. The offer here is for a Macbook Pro not for advice on what system to buy as far as I remember...

This is a good deal I just paid £1288 for same model from apple higher education and I didn't get quidco or free office for mac!

just as well then as they take longer to pay off....

Hot deal just got one myself.. Thanks to the OP.

Im thinking of buying another one of these but i cant decide :

1. get this for £1259 with that 10% off code + whatever quidco there may be.
2. wait til next month when apple run back to school promo and as a student you can get a free ipod touch via rebate which would mean £1288 - whatever i can sell the ipod touch for.

only thing is i wouldnt get office for free from apple

any opinions?

If this is the university promo, don't they offer money off the macbook when you're on campus anyway? I've not checked for a while.

yeah they do, this model is £1288 with the discount usually £1499 i think

Does that ipod offer work on the HE deal - was gonna get one soon, but might wait for that - when exactly next month?!?

ps3ud0 8-)

yeah usually begins end of may coincide with end of term

Don't forget with the HE store you get free applecare worth over £300.

I am debating whether to wait or not, I can go and get one this week, or wait...I'm not sure I can contain my inner child any longer and might give in to my mac desire.

is the applecare free? i thought it was about £50 extra

Depends if you buy online or instore, but if you bought it online the warranty is automatically for 36 months, the telephone helpline for 90 days and the £50 charge is to extend the telephone helpline cover to 36 months.
I think instore you have to pay the £50 for the applecare warranty though, but still cheaper than £300.

Why cold? This is a cracking deal.

:whistling: I noticed that too late. With the code it's a great deal, hence my question: why cold?

LuckyL;8521096

I'm not sure why anyone cares if this is voted cold or not - not only this post but in many other posts it appears that finding out why something is voted cold is akin to finding the Holy Grail. Evidently, this has benefited some and whether it has been voted cold or hot is purely subjective. The important thing is that there are people who have found this useful (not me though as I also feel Apple hardware are expensive and confined, such as sealed batteries).

I think this expired, neither of the discount codes are working

eldaras;8557966

Sorry to hear that, and it answers the previous commentor's question why one should care whether something is voted hot or not: it determines how visible a deal is.
