Never had a poundland one last more than a month, false economy. They also charge slower and are 1m not 2m (unless they've just started selling them?)

Until it sparks and your house burns down. Please don't use any other cables than the original ones. Trust me even the certified ones have problems not to forget they burn the chip in the phone and kill the battery.

So when my cable breaks should I just throw away my iPhone and a buy a new one? Oh actually I need a lead for my car too! i better get 2 new phones then!

You can buy the spare cables from apple. The original cables aren't particularly reliable either, micro USB much better IMHO. Best to buy a decent certified cable, yes some are rubbish but there are quality cables out there which are as good or exceed the originals at a cheaper price.

Don't even mention the official Apple retailer. Who in the world shells out £19.99 for a 1m cable? Just go on Amazon and purchase a Syncwire cable that lasts more than a year with lifetime warranty

apple wont honour warranty claims if any cable other than a genuine apple cable has been used. and they can tell or so they reckon

That's not true, I have always used a variety of chargers I don't even know which my original ones are, and I have had a couple of swaps with apples and they have never even mentioned 3rd party stuff

Total nonsense I'm afraid.

Title needs updating as they are not made by Apple.
Please change to "*Brandname* 2 metre lightning cable for Apple devices"

so this is not the official cable?
You can already get them for round about the same price delivered on amazon, mfi certified ones.
I got one a couple months ago. Also seen a deal on here couple days ago for one too.

I've never managed to damage or break an official Apple one yet. I've been using iPhones since the first one and iPods way before that. I always wonder what people are doing to damage them so often.

I think not all Apple cables are of the same quality, maybe sourced from different suppliers. I noticed that cables used in Apple stores are more resilient than the ones supplied with iPhones.

Not true. The problem lies in your USB charging point.

Not true. They charge just as quickly as long as you use the correct USB charging device, plus they have been available in 2M for at least a year as I have had them for that long! Seems Poundland cables are far more reliable than the "information" you impart on the matter....

Heard you the first time mate, but it is true I've tried many of them with an iPad Air, iPad Mini & iPhone 5c and they cannot charge and be used at the same time without draining the battery, I've used them with a 10A charger too.. and they will charge but very slow... also the quality of these cables is very shoddy, I've had numerous cables break off at the lighting port end.

But life to short to actually care what you think of my 'imparting', Ill stick with my £5.99 sync wires with life time guarantee, which has so far lasted me over 18 months, and you stick with you £1.00 cables.. they barely last a week in some cases.

You're credibility on Poundland cables was shot when you said they don't sell 2M ones, which as I pointed out they have been doing for over a year. Thus rendering your other views on them invalid, being based on out of date information.

Any more info on this, my wife bought some amazon basics junk and it melted a genuine apple cable and the battery has suffered, it cuts out when still power in it, never did it until the incident

What the lightning cables? Even from Apple they are rubbish for durability, you need to put some shrinkwrap at the end to stiffen them up so they don't break over time

You don't need to do anything. I've been using Lightning cables since the iPhone 5 launched, I've never managed to break one. All mine still look pristine.

Haritori never said they don't sell 2M cables!

Misleading title. This is not an Apple cable, it's a 3rd party lightning cable.

Wow, not agreeing with what the guy said but buy a new phone just to get a new cable haha? Pretty much every manufacturer sells their charging cables... Proper facepalm moment there.

Just got one at the Richmond (Surrey) branch. They had about a dozen left.

Have some heat , just bought 3 for the family to use in Blackwood Caerphilly.

.........the most relevant bit of which is this:

This article is about cheap dodgy counterfeit goods. You will be perfectly safe buying cheaper chargers made by reputable manufacturers that are sold by reputable retailers who are all above board and are not bypassing the safety regulations. Apple is not the only the only company in the world that can make safe chargers.
