Apple AirPods are designed to turn on and connect to to your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac the moment you remove them from their charging case*.

Instant sound
Your music will start playing the moment you put the AirPods in your ears and will pause when you remove them, so you don't miss a beat. To adjust the volume, change the song, make a call or even get directions, just double-tap to activate Siri.

The mechanics
Driven by the custom Apple W1 chip, AirPods use optical sensors and a motion accelerometer to detect when they’re in your ears. Whether you’re using both AirPods or just one, the W1 chip automatically routes the audio and engages the microphone. And when you’re on a call or talking to Siri, an additional accelerometer works with beamforming microphones to filter out background noise and focus on the sound of your voice.

Long battery life
AirPods deliver around 5 hours of listening time on one charge, but this may vary depending on the device you use them with. Just 15 minutes in the case should provide 3 hours of listening time.

*Requires an iCloud account and macOS Sierra, iOS 10 or watchOS 3.

System requirements:

  • iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models with iOS 10 or later
  • Apple Watch models with watchOS 3 or later
  • Mac models with macOS Sierra or later

You have to go into Poundland for those whereas you can buy these without doing that.

Bought some of these last September. Used them every day since, mostly with Android devices. They support AAC so with Oreo devices the sound quality is excellent for what they are, and the battery life and convenience has made them invaluable for my commute. I've bought many Bluetooth headphones over the years and for the primary purpose of commuting and listening on the move these are by far my favourite - even as a non-iOS user. Unfortunately they don't fit in everyone's ears.

You can pair them to a basically unlimited range of devices without needing to re-pair again (I've never seen that before, even on my Bose headphones).

They turn on and turn off just by taking them out and putting them back in the case

Battery seems to go on forever

You can just put one in if you want to quickly take a call on the move without holding your phone.

I like them.

Expensive, probably unnecessary, but my god, easily the best piece of tech I’ve bought in the last few years.

Hi, you can buy a little attachment from Amazon that's supposed to keep them in your ear. smile.amazon.co.uk/dod…rch

Honestly depends on your ears. If you've used earpods and find them comfortable then these will be comfortable.

I've had mine for about a month now and I love them. Rightly or wrongly i run with earphones in and its so good not having wires all over the show and a connection that doesn't continuously drop. Also Siri is pretty good on it too if you need to change playlists etc whilst running without touching your phone.

Same for me really. I felt very guilty buying them but it's turned out to be my least regrettable tech purchase. It turns out that in the world of (quality) extremely portable wireless Bluetooth headphones with charging cases these are actually decent value for money. Another factor for me is that I can't stand rubber gromit style headphones - I get really waxy ears that are prone to infection and those sort of headphones not only increase the likelihood of me getting an ear infection but they feel horribly claustrophobic to me. There are almost no other little Bluetooth earphones that don't have those rubber ends on them.
I bought these a few months ago and they are a lot better than expected. Ive not used my Bose QC 35ii since I got them, but to be fair Im more likely to use my Bose on long flights and the AirPods for running and cycling.

The fit is ok for my ears but a little loose for running and cycling so I bought some cheap rubber tips from amazon and they now fit great. My only gripes with the tips is that they come with 3 different sizes rather than 3 of the size I need, and obviously they don't fit in the charging case which means taking them on and off when charging but again they are very easy to do so.

Mine are connected to all my devices iPhone, MacBook, apple watch, apple tv, iPad and they switch seamlessly between the devices as required. Ive also made calls while cycling wearing these and unless very windy or cycling to fast they work great for calls too.

The tap feature is excellent once you get the hang of it, and you can customise each ear for different actions like pause/skip/siri etc.

I think if you have several apple devices these are a great addition. Never tried them with non apple so cant comment on that, although Im getting a new windows laptop today so will be trying them with that soon. I think for the money you can definitely get better sounding headphones, but the functionality of these and the sound is still really good, they are worth every penny for me.

Great deal OP, heat added.

Nothing to do with marketing mate - they're legitimately good for some people. I'm not exactly in the Apple ecosystem and they're the best wireless earphones I've ever used for commuting. If you can point me to some reliable truly wireless and ultra portable Bluetooth earphones with battery life on par with this for less money though I'd be interested as my mum is after some. The only ones I've seen are much bigger and not really any less money (often more). Unless you count the truly awful tat knock offs of these you get from HK sellers.

Thanks. Apprently they work well however the airpods cannot be charged with them on so sounds like a lot of hasle.
Any chance of combining with a student discount?
I almost bit when o2 did this deal a while back but decided it was worth waiting.

That would be the case even more now with WWDC in just a few weeks

These are great, bought them recently with student discount for the same orice.

They're not audiophile but I have dedicated music headphones for when I'm at home. Other wireless earphones aren't an option for me because of the rubber attachments but certainly the sound is decent enough that it doesn't detract from my enjoyment. Most of my listening is podcasts and YouTube videos though.
Edited by: "TechnoDonkey" 22nd May 2018
Had mine for a while and they are perfect for running/cycling and using with Apple Watch. I've never had a problem with them falling out or becoming loose. They charge incredibly quickly (but remember to put them back in their case!).

I think Apple announced they are bringing out next generation with wireless charging case but I also think I read the case is being sold separately for those of us with 1st Gen. I'd imagine though it won't be any cheaper to buy this deal then upgrade your case but obviously you'd have 2 charging cases.
