Supposedly Wireless. Effortless. Magical.
AirPods may forever change the way you use headphones. Whenever you pull your AirPods out of the charging case, they instantly turn on and connect to your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac.(1) Audio automatically plays as soon as you put them in your ears and pauses when you take them out. To adjust the volume, change the song, make a call or even get directions, just double-tap to activate Siri.

Driven by the custom Apple W1 chip, AirPods use optical sensors and a motion accelerometer to detect when they’re in your ears. Whether you’re using both AirPods or just one, the W1 chip automatically routes the audio and engages the microphone. And when you’re on a call or talking to Siri, an additional accelerometer works with beamforming microphones to filter out background noise and focus on the sound of your voice. Because the ultra-low-power W1 chip manages battery life so well, AirPods deliver an industry-leading 5 hours of listening time on one charge.(2) And they’re made to keep up with you, thanks to a charging case that holds multiple additional charges for more than 24 hours of listening time.(3) Need a quick charge? Just 15 minutes in the case gives you 3 hours of listening time.(4)

Hot or Cold makes no difference to me. 'tis what 'tis. I get the impression some foolish people think HUKD is designed to be competitive when it's really about product awareness and making money from click-throughs.

Preordered.

Rip off and way late

You're having a laugh! Could acquire myself an amazing Android device for that money.

There is some really cool and clever tech tucked into the Apple W1 chip. (Thought of here first..royalties, please...Check us in hun'.) Some bright spark may even create an app for taking a persons temperature with one of the AirPods? They certainly have the ability to.

Oh, look.... There's one of them sheep Androids dream of...

ridiculous price for an item that probably costs about a fiver to make...but they will still shift enough worldwide to make millions....not for me, I'm way too clever to fall for apple hype...Apple pie however, that's a different story

I know, can't miss a trick with this crowd

Absolute rip off!

Like I said on another post that was cheaper than this. People who buy these are the type of people that make Apple think their ideas are genuinely incredible by removing the 3.5mm jack out a £600 phone which would cost them about 5p and replacing with wireless headsets that cost £150. What a joke.

Gosh, I knew this was going to go Sub-Zero!

I'm an apple fan but these wee earphones are far too expensive...like most things apple...

can we make this -1000 by the end of the day?

let's make it happen! apple ****e

Get with the technology unless you like living in the past. Electrical connections are odious and degrade with time and wear. If we could all live in a cable free world we would. Why have a little hole in your device when one needn't be there? Most savvy tech companies have wireless smartphones, etc, in development, someone has to get the ball rolling. It was Apple who got everyone to shift to USB. If a product has got to have a socket make sure it isn't a one-trick-pony.

****.... THAT....****

Before anybody rubbishes these they may be worth it and surprise everybody if they are of exceptional audio quality and not like the headphones Apple have bought out in the past) time will tell).

For me though I'd like the option of a headphones jack without having to faff around with dongles.

Apple wasn't the first to do this, Motorola did this with the moto z months before Apple released the iPhone 7. And I'm all for choice. With a phone with a 3.5mm jack I can choose wireless or wired technology. Omitting a port isn't revolutionary.

You still have a little hole in your iPhone, called the lightning port, it's still there whether you use these or the lightning plug on the Apple supplied ones.
I like Apple but these are a rip off, not much better sounding than the original apple earbuds, there are far better options available that are cheaper and sound better.

Apple supply an adaptor with the iPhone 7 to let you plug in wired earphones - that must mean something.

For that price, do they give you a b****** too?

I marvel at the ever changing meaning of 'industry leading'. 5 hours is utterly umimpressive.

Are these compatible with my Oral-B electric toothbrush?

Been waiting for truly wireless earphones from a reputable brand. Ordered. Thanks OP

As I said not a one trick pony. If you're going to have a port make it work. Your claims to knowing how these sound is interesting. Where did you get to hear them and for how long were you wearing them? Good audio sound is not always immediately apparent and listening fatigue can set in with extended exposure. For audio transparency and extended indoor listening I use top end Etymotics which were more expensive than the AirPods...considerably more... The AirPods will serve a very different purpose for me, their use targeted.

I neither said Apple were first nor did I mention revolutionary. However, Apple are known to sway the direction of personal tech. Utilising one port for several functions will be the norm within a couple of years if not sooner. I have friends with draws stuffed with two, four, six, eight, ten years old tech and what they purchased this year will be dinosaured two years from now.

Nope. These are active speakers, each working independently but synchronously with the other. The amount of processing required for the audio part of the equation alone is quite staggering, then there are all the functions each has to calculate for. You effectively have a working computer in each ear which can be used for up to 24 hours. I think that is bleeding clever.
