Just Apples way of fleecing their customers (again). Ironic when you consider that the Samsung pods are half the price and are actually way better.

Times used to be that you got what you paid for but the market has shifted now. Apple nowhere near as big as it once was. They should stick to tablets where they actually do dominate.

These are the pro AirPods. The Samsung ones don’t have the same features.

Just got the Galaxy buds free with my S10. Sound quality is nowhere near as good as my old 1st gen Airpods.

My only issue with the Airpods are the battery. After 3 years, they barely last 2 hours, and the case holds about 5 hours.

Tempted to sell them both and get the Pros, but not sure i can justify £250 if the battery is gonna be rubbish in a few years.

You can get a battery service in an Apple store for £45 an AirPod instead of replacing for £250. I think they are non-serviceable so you will get a replacement AirPod if you request a battery service. support.apple.com/en-…ice
Guys just trying to help people out who are in the market for these this is a competitive price compared to other outlets - the Airpod Pros are reviewing highly across the board and the consensus is far superior to the copy cat Samsung efforts

Sadly apple products always go cold as people can’t seem to understand that R&D and profit are components to a cost and they also don’t understand that this site is about voting hot on the best possible discount not whether they would buy it or not. This is a good price, and from recent comments eglobal are delivering just fine.

That has to be the most ridiculous analogy I've ever heard in today's current tech market. In a market where AMD CPUs are half the price of Intel and perform equal and Garmin products are rivaling Samsung and Apple £300 products for £50, how can you even think that you should buy the most expensive to get the quality.

Surely ALDI proved that you don't need to buy the most expensive type of something to get a good quality. Your analogy is wrong, and there is nothing wrong with the Samsung air pods either. They were very well received much like the apples one. What does differ greatly is the price. The guy was whinging about the sound quality being worse but actual tech reviewers say the only difference between the 2 is that the airpods don't do bass very well whereas Galaxy pods tend to be slightly bass heavy.
UK get shafted so bad with prices on Apple products. Just got back from Hong Kong, these are £200 brand new straight from Apple store. Also an iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB is £300 cheaper there and it comes with a proper dual-SIM rather than the e-SIM crap.

"Sound quality is nowhere near as good as my old 1st gen Airpods." this is not whinging.

calm down with the aggressive comments. you're going to convince no one with OTT responses.

i'm all for getting a bargain (ie find a good solid product and then wait for it to be in a price range acceptable/affordable) but there's no way i'm buying a cheaper product knowing it's inferior.

BTW, "actual tech reviewers" really...actual ones....wow!

Well you know, better than a stranger on HUKD with a bias . I'm not being aggressive, I'm being matter of fact.

See what discredits you is things like "I'm not buying a cheaper product knowing it's inferior".

Doesn't seem to be an issue for the overwhelming majority.

It's probably more a matter of principal from the general consensus. Either way I never vote on apple products because I disagree with a lot of what apple does (dialling batteries back on phones to cash in on battery boosts, releasing multiple variants of the same phone with minor actual changes for a reprice etc etc.)

I agree that people should stay focused on topic but often these threads descend into an apple bashing spree and in today's market I feel like it's kind of justified tbh.

Yes I agree Apple at times do tend to make the most out of their customers (no expandable memory, lighting port, absurd cost increases for change of material on Watch to name a few). However, some products are genuinely market leading and the cost they ask for is largely acceptable for a market leading product. AirPods pro work seamlessly with Apple devices with the H1 chip, that integration means they can command the price they do and AirPods are probably in line in price with the competition. So I feel the hate towards AirPods pro pricing is a little unjustified as AirPods are apples most successful product in recent years.

No argument there. Definitely most successful product in quite a while except maybe the new gen of iPads. I'm wondering though how much of the price label is profit, there are plenty of cheap bluetooth pods for like 30quid all over the net. Bluetooth connectivity is pretty universal now so would probably have only minor connectivity issues at worst case.

Not sure I trust that apple isn't making a 50% or more mark up on these.

100% there is a crazy mark up, they’re not a trillion dollar company for no reason. But it’s the fact Apple do things differently that people buy them. The H1 chip removes the ‘pain’ from Bluetooth which isn’t on offer with other headsets. Does that justify the mark up, probably not. Do people pay it anyway... yes, so Apple will continue to charge these prices because they can and because they want to maintain their perceived image as a premium brand

Haha likewise! Good to have a proper conversation! Yes much emphasis on perceived! Even as an Apple product user, I do not like the way some things have gone. The Apple logo is now a way to show off wealth or the appearance of wealth, AirPods have really reinforced this with people buying them as a fashion accessory.

I suppose I never even considered it. Very reminiscent of Beats by Dre. Don't you love the way marketing and social expectation work now?
Yes these are expensive and the Sony WF-1000XM3 sound better (far less comfortable though), but these just work brilliantly. I resisted getting Airpods for a long time, as I hate looking like a fanboy with white headphones.......but as these now have noise cancellation I bit the bullet.
I've been really surprised, as they are pretty amazing and the whole experience is just so simple. Being able to connect to any of my Apple devices so easily is the joy of these and they are really comfortable and portable in the case.
As a package they score highly in every category. Other competitors excel with battery life and sound, but they have other downsides that score a lot lower - comfort and case size etc... The one sticking point is the cost, but when you work it out as about a £1 a day over a normal years usage.....I'm cool with that.
Lets face it, if you want something that just works on the every day commute and is extremely portable then these are great. If you want better sound then you don't want earbuds - get a pair of Sony WH-1000XM3 or Bose QuietComfort 35 for the same price.

Yeah exactly, for the most part Apple manages to get a good mix of form and function but the way things are going, form and design seem to be becoming the top priority simply to shift units. The recent iPhones got a huge battery boost and a thickness increase to accommodate so maybe I’m wrong as that was function over form.

I'm glad they've seen a bit of the light though. I feel like once upon a time the market was dominated by Apple, it's impossible to deny the rise of Samsung over the past couple of years and now people are even defecting from the big 2 into Google and Huawei as mainstream. Competetion is healthy for all and I think we've witnessed Apple under pressure for the first time in a decade.

Yeah definitely, competition is great and hopefully will push Apple even further, but Apple are clever and keep us in their ecosystem by creating products that interact with one another so well through software and when used outside of the Apple ecosystem lose functionality.

That does seem to be the big divide at the minute. Not necessarily Samsung functionality (although there is a lot of Samsung apps and gear that only interact specifically with it) but "Android" vs "IOS"

Yeah it’s android vs iOS and if like me you’ve invested into iOS a lot then even if Apple products are more expensive, it’s cheaper than replacing everything. So I guess I’m an Apple sheep and a customer Apple can exploit for this exact reason. And I’m sure that applies to so many people too

Correct. I'm on the other side of the fence. I must say though that the very large majority of apple customers are blinded by some kind of false superiority complex. I know it happens on this side too, but I guess it all comes back to that social expectation and the perceived concept of wealth from Apple.

Either way, it's been a pleasure chatting to you but I must get back and do some work now .

I was more referencing this for AirPods pro as it’s a big saving and somewhat removes the worry of batteries degrading and having to fork out again. Yes there will probably be another version in two years or so when the batteries do degrade so the usefulness of this is probably not much but nice to know it’s there
New on here are the websites legit genuine products?
