The deal is good, probably, so voted hot.

But the cheek of Apple to charge an extra £30-40 for these over the originals, whilst not doing much in terms of improving functionality/design speaks volumes for where company is heading and how it views it’s customer base.

I have an an iPhone max and the original AirPods blah blah blah but the price and design of the AirPods 2 is cheekier than the outfit my missus bought for valentines.

Methinks even the fanboys are starting to realise they are taking us for mugs.
Hopefully hear back from my job interview soon, will treat myself to this if I secure the role!

Agreed, I’m loving my XS Max but my goodness are they nickel and diming customers. The nerve of them to advertise fast charging on the £1100 phone and not include a fast charger as standard.

Not to mention how much of a mess it is now to visit the apple store if you need any sort of assistance.

Paid £135 for these last week so its pretty much on par with V1.
Thanks for posting. Missed out on that Currys eBay offer, so this is still a nice little saving.

But they are the same price as the originals. The £40 extra is for the version with the wireless charging case which wasn’t available with version 1.
Am I the only person who thinks that the pic of them in the case looks like a Star Wars stormtrooper?

Can they be used with Android? I mean, are they normal Bluetooth or some proprietary Apple format which would be typical of Apple

I think they mean because the v1 have dropped to £129, so it's the £30 extra to get these for £159. Not the £199 wirelessly charging case.

They can but you will have issues with Google assistant etc as these are designed for iOS.

Apple support app, open in go to the “Ive got a problem” bit can’t remeber the exact name) and book an appointment at the Genius Bar at whatever store you want at the time that suitable for you. Done in about 2 minutes if that.

See I think most things with Apple are overpriced, but I’m happy with the price of airpods. They by far have the best functionality and comfort out there, albeit sound is better in other options like Bose. I use them about five hours a day (commuting then calls in work) and you barely even notice them in. I’ll probably buy each new iteration and hand me down to the family.

But yes, iPhones Xs, iPad Pro, MacBook Pro all far overpriced at this stage.
Hopefully hear back from my job interview soon, will treat myself to this if I secure the role!

Totally agree with this.

Plus US attempts to shut down Huawei have started to backfire. 20% of Apple profits are from the Chinese market, but they have started to dump Apple products in protest.
Normally price is 159
are these as good as my air dots?
Are any of the alternatives like the i12, i13 or whatever even worth considering? I know the quality won’t be comparable but they’re like 1/10 of the price. Thanks
Marked hot, but don't see a reason to upgrade my gen 1 airpods yet
Do research how wireless headphones affect health before purchase. I would take dangling cords before even risking 1%.
Am I the only person that thinks people look a bit poncey wearing these? Love apple personally, got a household full of iPhones iPads etc, but these must be for a certain type of person who I can’t relate to

I bet they don't sound any better than a pair of KZs from China for £20.
I’ve been tempted to pick these up for ages, but ended up buying SoundSport on amazon for £29.99 and the quality is great, and for £100 less! Plus I’m not sure how happy I’d be using AirPods at the gym

They're the same price as the originals. The more expensive version is for the addition of the wireless charging case.

They added Hey Siri functionality, Bluetooth 5, faster pairing, lower latency, improved sound quality and a longer talk time but hey, some people are never happy.

I mean even if research doesn't suggest damage. You won't know until at least 1 generation (of humans down the line) it will probably only be doing bad.

While caution should be used in daily life, that seems a very cowed way to live.
I really would love some of these. I love the look, the technology, and ease of use, but I just don't like the sound of the wired versions, and these are the same sound.

I audio quality isn't a big issue for you, and you have an iPhone then they are a decent bit of kit.

Depends what was in vogue during your formative years.

When I was a kid, wearing cans was a big no no and likely to invite derision. Everyone wore ear buds, so to me these don't seem that out of place. They just look like ear buds missing the wires.

For those growing up with these today, they are just as normal as earbuds with wires are to me.

Personally i've had to suppress my aversion to cans. They still look odd to me, but i've got a pair of Sony XM3's as ANC is the only reason I'm prepared to invest in headphones. And after trialing lots of options they and the Bose QC35's were head and shoulders above the rest in this department (with the XM3's beating out the Bose).

I do love the truly wireless form factor though. Unfortunately the only ones offering ANC were the wf1000x and ANC performance was mediocre at best. I suspect its not technically feasible with current tech, as Sony have dropped ANC from the latest version of their wireless buds. But when someone manages to shoehorn it into wireless buds, I'll reluctantly pay the money as those would be my ideal headphones.

Yet you have a smartphone with Wifi, Bluetooth and 4G on your person for the majority of your life, and likely tablets, laptops, smartTVs and all sorts of other wireless gear in your home and office.

Why draw the line at wireless headphones?

The sort of person who wants to look poncy, or the sort of person who couldn't give a stuff what other people think they look like?

Are you insecure enough to worry about what people think of your headphone choice?
Retail price of these is £159, not £169, so it's a £10 saving, not £20.
