200 GB: £2.49
1 TB: £6.99

Piece of mind for a pretty low cost

Think I previously had 20gb for 79p but wasn't enough for iPad and iPhone

Just forgot my passcode (long story lol) so only thing I could do was reset iPad in Apple Store) luckily all my data was backed up no iCloud

This is definitely good news as we are an 'Apple' home to many devices...
don't forget the additional storage on 'Dropbox' of 15GB for free as a back up ;-)

What's the alternative for iOS devices? Something that works as seamless as iCloud
This is per month. I'm not voting but they are other services for cheaper
They should have increased the free at least a bit, or made it per device owned
£7.60 a year for 50GB of Apple storage ! Perfect for me hot
It works out £41.08 a year
Where did u get £7.60 from ?
Perfect! I only use iCloud for iphone backups, but needed 36gb and had to spend £2.99 a month to do so. Just downgraded to the 79p plan

It's actually £9.48 for a year... 79p x 12
Maybe they will bump those who already subscribed to 20G on a legacy plan like they did last time... May be worth waiting a week or so?

Erm... this is for iOS devices, and nothing else works as seamlessly as it's built-in to iOS so can do things third-party alternatives can't.
I calculated 79p every week lol

There are no other services that do all that iCloud does. Things like Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive etc. can't fully back-up your iOS device and you can't restore a whole iOS device direct from their clouds either.

They already have. I got an email today saying my 20GB subscription at 79p per month has been upgraded to 50GB at no extra cost.

u can buy a wireless hard drive kinda thing and store all your media on there. use the icloud for contact apps and phone data?
I wondered why my storage suddenly seemed to have gone up, thanks for the heads up. It took me a while to use up the 20gb so the new 50gb limit is fab.
How much you pay for their devices you really should be able to get free backup storage...

Not voting either way as I quite happily don't have anything to do with Apple anymore...
Perfect, I'm currently on a 20GB for £7.49/yr legacy plan but keep hitting my limit and had been holding off upgrading - 50GB for 79p a month suits me
£7.99 get a 32gb micro SD card.

Good idea, I will also need a dremel to cut open a slot on my phone.
They have just updated mine from 20gb to 50gb automatically for free

Surely Googles service is better? 16mb photos rather than 10 and also unlimited.
I use the basic iCloud and Google for photos. Costs nothing

You do, 5gb worth.
Another reason I'm glad I moved from Apple. Awful battery life and rip off price for online storage.
Not sure about all this Apple bashing, they are clearly nothing but kind and giving

Which is, a complete and utter shambles. Why haven't they increased this free allowance in the last 5 years? Because they're money grabbing antics just resort in more money. I guess it makes sense, they are a business. Either way, this will be my last iPhone - I'll explore other options when I come up for renewal.

What do you want to backup?

Some people think that iCloud backups their entire iPhone, this is not true. I subscribe to Google Play Music and have about 80 gb of music on my iPhone. This is not backed up. Nor are iOS system files.
iCloud is good but don't rely on it over the air, do iTunes backups to. Especially when doing a major upgrade like ios9 out now.

I use iOS Dropbox for work.

iOS Amazon Photo (Prime unlimited) for photos.

iCloud for what does get backed up to icloud.com calendar, contacts reminders settings etc.

Don't rely on over the air iCloud backups. Apple have admitted there is a bug on their server at present for some users.

1/ check iCloud is backing up over the air & do iTunes backup too.

2/ backup your PC or Mac

3/ keep copy of 2/ backup 'off site' say ones a week on USB drive.

I use Time Capsule, Dropbox, Amazon prime photo (unlimited photos), Googe Play Music (unlimited music), iCloud and a USB drive.

These iCloud prices are good but to be fair Apple did need to review them as others have been a lot cheaper for a while now.

As I say what do you want to backup? Do you have Amazon prime?

I use iCloud backup because it's pretty much the only way to back up your iPhone settings. I also use Google photos to auto backup my photos. iCloud doesn't really act as a 'proper' backup of your photos, as with all backup routines you should have more than one copy of your important data.

I know it will shortly change but Google also have 2fa in place and with Apple it's only in limited places.

Good if your happy for the NSA to sniff through all your personal info. Id stick to my method of backing up on my own external storage.

The free version gets you 'high quality backu-ubackps' whereas only the paid version gets you 'original quality backups'.
Might make a difference to some users.

What is the difference between Shoebox’s Free Plan and Shoebox Pro?
Both plans store an unlimited number of photos, but our pro plan stores your photos at their original resolution and quality while the free plan stores a resolution suitable for viewing on phones, tablets and computers.

Shoebox Pro subscribers also receive an additional 10 hours of video backup.

Free Photo Quality: On the free plan, we'll store photos at a resolution of up to 10.6 megapixels (3264 pixels on the longest side). With the free plan your photos may be re-encoded to fit within 3264 pixels, or to save space.

I use iCloud's Photo Sharing, Apple don't charge a thing to store photos in that way and it means all my IOS photos are archived in the cloud (as well as on my PC and a portable storage drive).

Each Album has a limit of 5000 photos and there are some size restrictions on individual photos, I can't remember the numbers... but as a result I don't pay anything to Apple for ICloud storage.
**** me. If you don't like Apple the why bother clicking in any deals, obviously aimed for their devices or services?
This is more expensive than other offerings. More probably should be offered free. Apple is expensive.
However people pay extra for convenience all the time. Not everyone wants to search the market for alternative back up options or need the configurability of Android.
