I can't quite work out if this is a misprice or not but Amazon seem to have the latest Intel Core i5 2.8 GHz, 8 GB RAM version of the 2015 refreshed iMac model for sale for £899.
It's sold by Amazon themselves and eligible for Prime delivery (1-3 week wait)
Ordered one myself but worth posting as that's £150 cheaper than what Apple sell themselves and might be true!
It seems to default to a third party seller when you visit the product page but clicking on Other Sellers show's Amazon's price and allows you to order from there.

This is true, it's a shame it's not the Fusion Drive model but still, that's £150 less than you'd need to fork out!
I'm in the same camp as Moss when it comes to Apple products:
Should be better at this price.
The real question is can you get a 21" iMac for less than this?
Believe it or not some people actually want to buy an iMac not a PC...hence the reason companies sell iMac's as well as PC's.....
Voted hot as the site is "HotUkDeals" not "HotCompareMacVsPC" and this is a good price if you are looking for an iMac
The only people who buy Macs are those who know nothing about computers and are sucked into the Apple brand
That's an awful lot of design studios and production houses then.. I'm gonna stop using the internet and watching TV in protest
..AND people with too much money too!!...nearly a grand for a laptop and people are voting it red hot!!...there must be some well paid jobs about!!
Wrongest statement ever!
So what? It's their prerogative and money.
Be happy with your pc and stop minding other people's business.
As someone who uses Macs I can honestly say that they are fast, hard working and highly reliable. I use them for professional use and have always been 100% happy with them. The same can not be said for a lot of other computers I have had in the past.
utter tosh....
I have this same model and Adobe works beautifully smoothly.
Most wrong spelling ever.
The opinions of someone who can't even see that this isn't a laptop don't hold much weight!
Shows what you know about computers as well then....When has an iMac ever been a laptop?
A £500 PC can be easily upgraded if the parts get outdated/slow. Does it cost £500 to upgrade a PC? Nope.
Oops!! apologies....I was totally wrong and deserve all the abuse! LOL No idea what made me think this was a laptop!!....I'll get my coat!!
Nope
Nope.
Yes there are, can't you find one? Sorry for you.
What exactly is the "con"?
And a Mac will lose about 10% value per annum meaning it can easily be resold and a newer model purchased for no more than the cost of upgrading the PC (yet again)
Then again when even Mac's over 8yrs old will still happily run the latest version of OSX and any Mac apps most people keep just on using them for a long time.
Other deals are the same, people say can get x,y or z cheaper it's completely irrelevant either find cheaper what's been posted or move along.
Were not interested in a Mac, I would not enter the thread.
Can find the same product for less money, I would vote cold and post my deal in the comments.
Can't find it cheaper, then I would vote hot.
My opinion on the relative merits of Apple vs PCs are totally irrelevant, so I won't be giving any.
Once converted to OS X, which is not that difficult, then few would want to go back.
For those who want to spend a little less then the deal for the base iMac is still available for £799.99 (if you are already a Costco member or £15 more if not).
Sometimes it's just nice to own well engineered products don't you think?
Something is only worth the price someone is willing to pay.
And people pay gladly. And the majority know why.
Strange. I have a computing degree from Imperial College, and I have a Mac which cost nearly 2k. It seems to me, only people who know nothing about computers moan about Macs.
Tried to sell it but couldn't half of what I paid for it. Don't believe the lie about 10% depreciation.
I'm still using a dell desktop PC that I bought 7 years ago for 25% of the price of this iMac. It, too, is fast, works perfectly well, and has never broken down. It's easy to upgrade, and I put a couple of SSDs in it (RAID 1) a while back without any trouble at all. If it were to break, it would be easy to fix, using standard parts.
I'm not anti Apple. I am typing this on my ipad, but their kit is clearly very expensive and it is hard/impossible to upgrade or repair.
For me this used to be the case, starting with the core2duo polycarbonate MacBook and the mac mini equivalent I'd say quality and support has got worse. These days build quality is much the same as equally priced PCs in my opinion.
How're you finding the 5K iMac? Would be good to get your thoughts on it, and if there any major drawbacks you've found.
My current Mac (an 8 year old white plastic MacBook) is still my daily driver, but it's reaching its limit for things like managing a big photo library (150GB+), watching 1080p video (Plex struggles with this, so I generally convert my movies to 720p), and some other niggles...plus, it's still stuck on Lion.!Had been thinking about splashing out on a top-end new iMac as I realise that I've mostly used my MacBook on my desk the last few years (connected to an external display).
When you say well engineered, how easy is this to repair or upgrade? Does adding RAM or swapping the disk take more than one minute? Can you even do that at all as an end user?
