This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

I was looking at replacing an ageing iMac and had my eye on this 2019 27inch iMac at £1,749 from Apple but last night Amazon dropped its priced by £105 to £1599.97. The next best price i could find from a reputable dealer was from KRCS at £1644.06, I have ordered this and was thinking of taking the Applecare at £189 but instead took Amazons warranty which was only £159 but covered for 4 years (1+3) , Applecare was only 3 years (1+2), also unlike applecare there is no Excess payment in the event of aclaim. I know this isn't for everyone, but if you were looking at getting an iMac this might be the best price available right now, if it isn't comment below and i'll switch my order

Heres the info on this machine from Apple :

3.0GHz 6-Core Processor with Turbo Boost up to 4.1GHz
1TB Storage
  • Retina 5K Display
  • 3.0GHz 6-core 8th-generation Intel Core i5 processor
  • Turbo Boost up to 4.1GHz
  • 8GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory, configurable up to 32GB
  • 1TB Fusion Drive1
  • Radeon Pro 570X with 4GB of GDDR5 memory
  • Two Thunderbolt 3 ports
  • Retina 5K 5120-by-2880 P3 display

Indeed.. an older model full spec would be my thinking.
im currently typing on the exact same machine, it is very nice to use
Good price imo.

6c 8th gen i5 is faster than a 4c/8t 7th gen i7 in nearly every scenario. The 1tb fusion drive is a great compromise of speed / size too.

as apple prices go, the base models are much better value (objectively) than the frankly ludicrous, upgrade prices.

I wouldn't buy a fusion drive now. My 2012 1TB fusion drive has a 128GB SSD. That's enough to work well. As far as I'm aware these models have 32GB. This means a lot more will be done on the HDD then even the old models. I think people has realised this so these models will drop in price.

Thats what my thinking is too,
Although Apple costs abit more initially, the quality really shows, I have a MACbook pro (Early 2009) use it every day and still going strong (just changed the hard drive to an SSD and had to replace battery) otherwise beat the average of 3 years i used to get from my windows laptops from various manufactureres

Depends on what you are doing? I know people who spend this sort of money on a machine and just use it for word processing and email...
I went for this last week... looks a better deal (if you can get student discount)...

Yes, because I like to 'compromise' when I spend nearly £1600 on a computer.
Thought it would have a 1tb SSD at this price. Jesus. Panel looks excellent, rest of the spec so-so.

Wild goose chase . Probably store specific and not national
£1,600 and not even a proper SSD solution!
How to over spend on a screen and under spend on storage leaving it unbalanced.
It's like buying a flash looking car with a reasonable engine but terrible chassis.
You start pushing it hard and the handling isn't there.

£1600 and no SSD plus only i5 and 8GB sure the screen looks nice but these specs for that price your being robbed

Top marks for me. It's the real thing and comes out cheaper than the student apple store too (usually). Bought my apple watch from them black Friday last year too. Some of the Microsoft stuff looks good as well. Customer service is responsive (anwser emails & phone calls sharpish).

If you go for it, just buy ram aftermarket... I Can link you which one I purchased from amazon...
You can easily add an ssd to this, also it will actually be worth something when you come to sell it.

That's good to know as with some Apple gear that's not the case.

I see. That dim Acer 1080p monitor is “better specced” than Apple’s brighter 5k monitor. Good to know.

That's what I did. Bought a top of the range late 2013 i7 3.7ghz model for ~£1300 8 months ago. It runs anything I throw at it, and more than covers my use cases.

Didn't fancy a low spec entry level model on a 5k screen that would struggle to stem the extra pixel count.

You said 27 inch, if you want a 5k monitor you can buy one. I'm talking about the specs in terms of CPU, RAM, GPU, HDD, SSD, not some monitor. Monitors are interchangle, unlike Mac parts.

we have a 21 inch imac which is used as a family computer.

I was considering buying one of these for home office work use, but I also have a windows laptop.

I have just bought a 27 inch hp monitor for £149 and an amazon basics universal laptop docking station. (Which connects to my laptop with one USB cable. The dock then connects to scanner, printer and monitor.). I also have a wireless keyboard and mouse.

- wow, for less than £200 I have a large screen display and operate it from my laptop.

If you are an apple laptop user, then I assume that you can do the same.

So just hook one of those up to an older Mac Pro? Which is upgradable unlike the iMac?

Upgrading the monitor isnt the same as upgrading the graphics card or motherboard, NIC, WNIC, CPU, RAM, chipset etc.

The model I linked seemed the better value model (for the tech given/ price sold at). Paltry ram though. Bought 32GB (for a total of 40GB system memory (buying less offered less value & preferred to just do the upgrade in one go & not have to touch it again). Link below, anything else... let me know.

Well, yes but better specs means better specs. Considering that the screen is an integral part of any laptop, I fail to see how your dismissal of it as an optional extra does anything but undermine your assertion.

If what you really meant was that you could find a cheaper, better specced laptop except for the bits that clearly were inferior, perhaps you should have said so and then we could have ignored your comment as the usual unhelpful trollbaiting that pollutes every Apple deal.

Apple's gear is overpriced. Horribly so when it comes to BTO upgrades. This is no news to anyone. At least try comparing like with like. A better opening gambit would be comparing the iMac with other all-in-one desktop computers. There are enough of those on the market.

'bits', it's literally every component apart from the screen, which you can get a 4k monitor for less than £200, who wants a 6TH gen i5 with 1TB for 1599.96?

really should read the specs carefully if you are going to be quoting them, this model is 5k monitor, the Processor is 8th Gen i5, with 6 cores. Its not just the hardware you buy with Apple products, its the OS too. I am a professional user of Windows and Apple OSX, and would say the apple OS is by far the superior product IMO and a big reason why i buy apple products. They are expensive, i wish they were more reasonably priced, but we consumers don't set the prices !

Well sorry I got confused with the specs, I use linux and Windows, Windows Enterprise, home and professional, much prefer Windows. iMessage doesn't let you receive texts on your computer, Windows does.
