I found this one at John Lewis in High Wycombe as part of their clearance sale is an ex display model. I think is a good deal just for the screen .

I saw this on Sunday so if anyone fancies this is probably still there. Not sure how many they had left though.

Apparently there is a way to connect the monitor of this iMac to a PC via a displayport connector and use it via software, I google and thought about it, but in the end decided to go for the Dell U2711 instead.
But I thought I should not levae that iMac sitting down at John Lewis someone from the HUKD community can get it.
This is an excellent deal.
I just sold my July 2010 21.5" model (with 500gb hard drive) for £700. Bet they're kicking themselves now - bigger screen, bigger hard drive and the two year John Lewis warranty. Excellent!

I know, I got there with 5min to go until the shop was closed so I am glad in a way that it was late otherwise I would have bought it, but in the end I think I am better off with the Dell 27 IPS as I have a good PC, but this deal sounded way too good and as you say the John Lewis warranty is good, with any luck it goes wrong in the first two years and you get a newer model :-) lol
Sold out in all stores.

I only know that they have this at High Wycombe unless someone from here already bought it.
How can this be a deal when there is only one available in one specific store??????
i3 + £779 = wtf?
normally good Apple deals go freezing. This, imo, is not hot. It's terrible spec for the money, yet it's reached such heat? The crazy world of HUKD.
Yuck, 27" yet only an i3? Talk about a mismatch!

I'm pretty sure you have to have the whole iMac turned on even if you're just using it as a display, which is pretty wasteful energy wise.

Just went onto Apple, and apparently charging £900 for their 27" monitor alone. Makes this hot... or over inflated for a monitor?

Damn good IPS display this one, it's worth the cash on it's own.
Yeah, I can imagine it being worth it. Given that apple are charging such a large figure for a Monitor alone.
Although it looks a good deal as a display don't forget that it's tied to a two-year-old computer. If you want to use it with anything newer you'll have to hack some sort of bodge to connect the two.

Anyway, since there's only (apparently) one of these in the whole of the UK it's largely academic whether or not it's a good deal.

Yeah its a great price if you can get it to work as a monitor.

One of the best screens you can get, and uses the same panel as the Dell monitors. The only differences are that Apple put a sheet of glass over the front to make the colours pop, so not really for anyone needing it for professional work.

That wasn't what I was saying. What I'm saying is it seems silly to pair such a budget CPU with such a high end screen. It's like putting an engine from a robin reliant in a Ferrari.

It wasn't a budget CPU two years ago, when this iMac was released.
The mac os utilises the specs better than windows so it is better than you think.

I've heard it uses the LG 27" IPS Panel, which koreans can ship. (abeit a different case etc) - but the cost comes down a massive £600. Google - Crossover, Yamakasi Catleap, Davi or Achieva Shimian.
