Almost £100 off the apple RRP and it has 2 years warrantee. Have a look at the spec on Apple website. Roughly 3.5ghz i5, 8gb ram, 1tb fusion drive, 2gb amd graphics, 5k display etc

If you like the deal please apply heat,

Many thanks

P.s I went for this myself at the Edmonton branch

I thought it was a great price considering it has only just launched.

But this is not the US, this is the UK.
You can find a lot of things cheaper in the US.
But this site is called hotUKdeals, not hotUSdeals!

I think your looking at the "education" price, like if your are a student.
For anyone who is not a student, this is a good price with 2 years warranty.

Good luck getting something of that size through customs. This is a good price for >UK< people who can't access student discounts

This might be the cheapest you can buy this for, but it doesn't necessarily make it a good deal.

Apple products are generally more expensive than other branded products of the same or higher specification.

BMW's are also more expensive than Toyota's........

If only this supported target display I would have got it. Currently I have been using my first imac 27 1440p. The trouble is the price you pay for these products you'd expect longevity and for the standard guy they're lovely machines however someone like me who prefers mac and windows use especially gaming, macs quickly become old hardware a year or two down the line. However one thing they retain is their display and build quality.

As such I bought a second 27 inch to go with my first and I use them as targetdisplay windows machines. For dual monitor gaming. I have been contemplating 4k displays and was thrilled when these were announced at 5k but doing away with target display just seems terrible.

As someone said better to get them from the states and I will do that. Decent deal though. However the op deserves thanks for uploading this deal also. Probably a smack too because now you have me obsessively thinking about it you bit haha.

wonderful machine as I have got 27" I mac since 2011 and is still running beautifully and seamless

Great computer with a screen to die for. Can't see it cheaper elsewhere, without the student discount, so have some heat from me.

Almost £2000 for an i5 run machine. Whoever it is thst will be interested in this 5k gimmick will surely also be interested in multimedia editing. i7 or an extreme for that price, and you might have me interested.

i agree with above...if it had target screen mode it would be great that an the fact they haven't been able to upgrade their existing 27inch screens means for now Ill have to make do with my 2009 27inch iMac which is still going strong...heat added though....will definitely use my daughter in a few years to come with her access to student discount

There will be no 5k content...Jump straight from 4k to 8k, nothing will be native to 5k.

I'm absolutely sold on the display. Can I buy that separately?

no but it allows 4k video production with a full 4k preview along with tool bars, etc.

That was the odd thing about the 5K iMac announcement, that there was no simultaneous announcement of a new Apple Display, for use with the Mac Pro. The 5K iMac was purposely downgraded to prevent it been used as a standalone display.

Anyone thinking of buying one, would be better to wait for Blackfriday deals, now.

Dont forget not everybody is eligable for a Costco membership, if your not then you have to add an extra 5% on.

It hasn't been purposely "downgraded". There isn't a cable on the market which can push 5K resolution right now. Apple are using 2 DisplayPort 1.2 lanes to drive the display internally - hence why you can't use it as an external display.

Now that DisplayPort 1.3 has been released, it shouldn't be a problem next generation (although no machine you currently have will be able to push 5k).

Disagree..

Toyota Landcruiser V8 starts at £65k. BMW 1 Series starts at £17k.

You have to compare like for like.

We get the same hater comments on every Apple deal.

4k display, not 5k as per the iMac (you can preview 4k content and still have space left for UI stuff). 28" vs 27" for the iMac - so you're comparing 4k at 28 inches to 5k at 27 inches).

Ugly black plastic monitor as opposed to black glass and aluminium.

I can't fathom whats sadder. Apple haters or the over zealous apple apologists. Come on ladies, man up. It's just a bloody company, get a life.

4K Monitor £450, Dell i7 (12gb,1 tb) £729 =£1180. Why would I buy Apple?]

That monitor is a 4K TN panel which are cheap and rubbish. The display in the iMac is an IPS panel, a 4k 27" IPS panel comes in at around £1000 and are quite rare. A 5k 27" IPS doesn't really exist as there is currently no cable that can support 5k, apple made there own internal controller to allow the iMac to display 5k. This is why you cannot use this machine in target disk mode, the display port standard doesn't currently support it. This is an amazing price for anything that includes a 5k IPS screen.

Take the 1 off and still cold.

Who's hating? Comparing a better spec computer and a pretty impressive monitor to Apples offering. As Wired states 'For most of us, a 5K display is just an extravagance, a high-end computing machine with specs that make our friends’ jaws drop.'

If you are in the tiny minority who require it then ok, but for 99% of users 5k is not required. £700 difference is a lot of cash to fork out for 'black glass & aluminium'.
