It’s not quite on par with the recent Very priced deal but a welcome discount nonetheless.

Well as no one is getting the Very deal because they have cancelled orders this looks viable.

Although the price isn't too bad I just wouldn't go for a standard HDD. I regret not saving more when I got my 27" iMac. Although the fusion drive is much better, it suffers on Windows.

I end up running Windows on an ext. SSD.

Can you expand on this please?

Also offering this price at John Lewis but with 0% finance.

I can confirm I took delivery of the this iMac from very which worked out 1000 net after the 150 cash back via the 1st very deal where the Op listed the deal as a MacBook Air. Interest free 12 months bnpl too, yes SSD OR FUSION HD would have been nice but not complaining considering 1249 from Apple, running the apple os and it’s not sluggish by any means. Absolutely love it.

I then posted an iMac specific deal from very which was a misprice, comments there suggest a 9/11 scheduled delivery, did you get a cancellation email twinkle , I know you ordered an Apple laptop and not an iMac.

Here’s the deal I posted

Apple mention it in very small print but the fusion drive doesn’t work at all on windows. I found that out when installed windows on my 2012 iMac. You’re only getting to use the 7200 HDD. In someways this was a good thing for me as made me use Mac OS more and now only use windows on a PC for gaming.

Yeah that's where I got confused but not great on Apple's part sadly. Still, a USB 3 enclosure with a SSD works beautifully on Windows. Obviously the speed isn't that great.

I'd honestly buy a separate machine for gaming and Windows but I'd paid for the extra spec and wanted to use it. Apple bootcamp AMD drivers are naff but the third-party ones work well.

1 bag and no Ssd

Get yourself a Thunderbolt 2 or 3 caddy. That will make a massive difference!

Not getting this because the iPhone X makes it look sh*t. 🤣

4k on a 21" screen, why, just why ?

Because the scaled display makes fonts and icons look gorgeous, once you've tried it you love it.
Windows still hasn't really figured out how to use high density displays properly yet.

Agreed. When I upgraded the harddisk in my aging Macbook Pro it was night and day. These days its not so easy to upgrade a harddisk, especially on an iMac. I would only consider a Mac with a SSD drive now. It's the different between a computer feeling current and 10 years old.

Windows has always been rubbish at scaling, even at 1080p resolutions. I switched permanently to Mac in 2015.. after 20 years using PCs and self builds, it's just a nicer operating system to use all round. I understand the latest Windows OS has adverts in it?

If anyone is on the fence, I got sick of windows crashing, constant virus attempts, always running firewalls and virus killer updates etc, had a few critical windows crashes that forced fresh installs or backup restores and I am very tech savvy having used windows since the days you booted into dos for games.

i took the plunge in dec 2012 and bought a fully specced out 27in iMac, other than the ram as cheaper to do myself, and took standard HD but run from a thunderbolt external ssd.

Would never look back, had two crashes in that time, both of which Just rebooted and all my files open as they were when it crashed. Girlfriend has accidentally pulled thunderbolt cable out a few times when cleaning, again it just reboots to where you were.

It runs silently unless I’m doing something very cpu intensive and even then it’s fairly quiet still. Still runs as fast as the day it came out the box, not feeling that it’s 5 years old next month at all, and still held a decent amount of value. I absolutely love it and I’d say I’ll be an Apple customer for life if it stays as is. Just so frustration free.

Tiny screen and a mechanical HDD.

Apple though so useful for kids and the elderly.

Urgent Appeal
Please, please buy this iMac. Apple are tantalizingly close to becoming the first trillion dollar company.
If we all do our bit and buy something Apple then the shareholders will have something to celebrate this Christmas.

Yep. Sold my 2012 27" iMac because of the slow HDD. The options from Apple are really quite dated (HDD, Fusion) when you look at what you get in Macbooks - and then there's the overheating issues.

Don't even try. I got tired of my iMac and switched to a Windows PC which runs amazingly and infinitely better at a fraction of the price. Something that I can fully upgrade rather than paying Apple an even more horrendous amount, such as £180 to lose the hard drive when buying an iMac and have a 256GB SSD instead. Best choice I've made.

Windows is so bad now it could be argued that the whole operating system is a promotional campaign encouraging you to buy anything else.
Note: I'm a Windows user; which sounds a bit like a 12 steps programme introduction.

Yes, you are correct, that's my 3rd cancelled order from Very...I'm probably higher than that if you include Currys

Exactly the same for me, 20+ years putting up with Windows, then I moved to Mac a couple of years back and have never looked back. When I use a Windows system now it’s like going back in time, awful

Not sure why some people above are buying a Mac and running Windows though!!

I made the switch from Windows to iMac in 2013 and haven't looked back - my hair has stopped turning grey so quickly. There isn't a deep enough ocean trench into which the Windows code and MS should be tipped.
