Perhaps not as good a deal as yesterdays base model but this is a very capable machine with the RX 580 8GB Graphics for anyone into video editing etc, will even manage half decent gaming in Bootcamp.

Not if you want a Mac, this deal is not aimed at people who want a PC (Doh).
What about those of us who dont really know the difference? And are asking a genuine question? (Doh)

Some software only works on Mac, and macOS is generally a much better OS.

ask google then.
Do you know if there are any plans to make a new model soon ? In the market for one but I could wait if the 2019 ones are expected to come down in price . Sure these are more than capable but always good to try and future proof

Having had Macs for the best part of 20 years I’m used to their product cycles.

Given there was an update to iMacs in 2017 (March) and then 2019 (March) it’s not expected there will be an update now until (probably) March 2021. This is based on current cycles and they may well throw a curve ball in there. There are currently no rumours to suggest an refreshed iMac range will come in 2020.

We went for this one...

I don't think there's any bargains really in the new iMac world currently so just went for something I think will last. After researching I thought the main things to get were a dedicated graphics card, fusion drive, and paying the extra for a 27 inch to have access to insert extra ram. In a few years if it slows down having the option to easily upgrade this should mean it'll always be at a decent standard I think
