Apple have some more iPads in there refurb department. You can't get a Apple 16GB WIFI on auction sites for this price. With this you get a brand new battery, brand new shell and 1years Apple warranty. They have the 3G versions also.

Last time they had them they went quick, so you will have to be quick.

I had mate visiting from states last week, brought me 32gb refurb for £275!

How's that gonna work out with the warranty then if anything goes wrong?

I thought apples warranty was global?

I am led to believe, Apple's warranty is worldwide. But unfortunately we don't all have a friend who is coming over from the states. If your order from states, you WILL get charged import tax, which would make it more expensive. So for a genuine apple uk deal, this is HOT.

It's a worldwide warranty. The DVD drive broke when I was in San Francisco and Apple fixed it the same day.

Those were the good old days though, before the iPhone ruined everything :'(

Wasn't this posted when they were dropping all the prices?

Wasn't questioning it was hot for uk deal, as I have absolutely no worries on apple refurb gear.

Just highlighting for those that can get access to peeps in the states it can be cheaper.

Whilst this is lower than a new one they have only reduced it by 12% which for a refurb is not particularly amazing, but apples seem to keen their value better than other IT products.

You won't get charged import tax, just the 20% vat.

Yes this was posted before, but they all sold out. They have just got more stock.

Bad Actor.

Cheers for that. I knew you got charged for something. Thought it was import tax. But 20% VAT. Ouch.

Good price (but I can tell you that the ipad 2 is alot faster - Im using mine now)

you dont get charged any tax as your allowed £350 worth of personal goods back anyway. and even if you were to buy something worth more just post the box home and take it in the hand luggage.

No it isn't. Theres many speed tests online and it's like 1/2 a second faster at the moment... but thats only because it's not optimised fully for the apps yet. When they optimize the apps it will be much faster.

cool...thanks. Can anyone else confirm?

No idea about warranty but my friend has a American one and he uses uk apple store iTunes. No issues. Just need a transformer for the plug or use the USB it comes with.

Daft question but here goes, i have a friend who goes to the states reg, if she was to get me an ipad over there would it be okay to use over here for the internet??

Android sucks, crashed loads when I had my HTC Hero. Got an iPhone and now I would never go back.

Not sure what the comment re government introducing VAT on Internet orders refers to. The only exception at the moment applies to items below £18 on which no VAT is charged. This allies whether you buy from the US, China or Jersey!

Yes (too late and too sober to make a sarcastic comment).

Okay, and thanks for restraining youself

Petetobin

I use the US and the UK App Stores, that was a non-trivial task but there are plenty of people willing to selling you US iTunes gift cards and some of them are actually kosher, especially the ones not based in China!

Remember if you buy in the US, sales tax varies dramatically from state to state. From memory Deleware and Alaska have no sales tax. Alaska is somewhat of a "destination" state but Deleware isn't too far from NYC.

I'm gonna bag 1 of these for my dad but wanted to know if u could use an iPad 2 from the States in this country? I've been told by a few ppl that because of the differing voltages here and in the USA, it won't be possible to use an American iPad in the UK?

The reason I ask is cos in 3 weeks time, I'll be in LA - woohoooo!!!

I was going to get an iPad 1 recently then thought it is far wiser in the long term to get an iPad 2. These first gens havent come down all that much since they have been out so I am guessing the iPad 2 wont depreciate all that much in say 12 months of ownership.

So I went to the Apple store and they turned me away as the launch wasnt till 5pm (yes I should have checked then went back and the queue was down the road. I am not enough of a fanboy/plonker to queue up to part with £659 so I just went home. I dont think I'll bother at all now.

200 miles, like driving Manchester to London, question is is it worth it for a $20-30 saving?

all gone

They're exactly the same ... just be sure to buy the AT&T one if you want a 3G model.

I'm probably going to pick one up in Vegas in 2 weeks! (then onto LA in 3 weeks with the new wife!) It must be the time of year for HUKDers to head to the USA West Coast ...

Cool think ill get an ipad 2 now in LA as its £116 cheaper there than rip off merchant UK!!

All devices that charge from USB are 5 volts. All charges are stepped down to that anyway.

It'll come with a US plug, but you can just slide it off and use the UK plug, or get an international adaptor... or just plug the USB straight into a computer to charge or any other USB mains charger.
