I think this is the first deal ever where the item is not mentioned anywhere
Offered me £92 for my iPad 4, but required charger. They require you to factory reset your trade in instore. The assistant who served me didn’t have a clue what he was doing and kept asking a colleague for advice.
in the end I went to the Apple Store who price matched Currys, gave me the same trade in and set the new one up for me in store, transferring all the data across. Great service
For those interested, John Lewis will match Argos price and give you 3yr guarantee.
Just was refused and offered £2 for my as new kindle fire, saying it had to be of a certain spec, false advertising at its best, travelled 25 miles and wasted 2 hours of my life due to crap advertising.

What is it
It may help others with the deal if you pop this in your title so others can see what the product is:

APPLE 9.7" iPad - 32 GB, Space Grey

Maybe also try taking out all the spaces in the details as well so it formats a little better.

P.S.

I'm sure you'll get the hang of it as you post more deals

Just been on live help - Currys say they will not price match and do trade in on this. I asked them to double check with manager as I do not think price match is an offer but they still said they would not do it.
sorry missed description.. think it sorted.

Wrong. It is a minimum of £50 no matter what you trade in as long as you're buying an ipad
Good deal op. Providing you can get the useless staff in currys to oblige.

Wonder if I could trade in the iPad that is locked which Apple refuse the unlock because I've lost the password (well my son did...). Even provided invoice from Music Magpie.
we traded a very old samsung tab 8.9 for the £50
tablet must be seen working...
I have an iPad 1 in the loft that probably won't even sell for £10... tempting.

edit: wait what, people are selling iPad 1s on eBay for £50... how?.. It's a paperweight at this point and Amazon sells new fire tablets for £50 atm...

Have you tried this?

How do I factory reset my iPad without passcode?
Erase your device with recovery mode to remove your passcode
Connect your iOS device to your computer and open iTunes. ...While your device is connected, force restart it: ...When you see the option to Restore or Update, choose Restore. ...Wait for the process to finish.
So how do you get them to price match? Just walk in and ask?
thats what i did. reserved online and walked in and asked to price match argos. then trade in, walked out with ipad for £249 happy days

Not wrong, tried to trade in a amazon fire tablet but they would not do the deal.
I can confirm I have just come back from Currys and I traded in a 6 year old Samsung Tablet and also price matched a Apple iPad 9.7" with Argos. Had it for £249

I was going to post this as my first deal but have been beaten to it.
Will they accept any old tablet for £50 off??? I have an old HP tablet from like 2012? And an old broken iPad from a few years back.
I just called them they said definitely not
i wouldn't trade in an iPad, you'd get more than £50at cex

That won't work if the device is Activation Locked. You will be prompted for password during setup

Many thanks for the advice. Unfortunately the above stopped working on newer versions of the OS.
Great that Apple stopped thiefs reselling iPads but not so great that legitimate owners got tarred with the same brush.
Apple products are hard to reset,I don't lyke dem so I am waiting for android deals
Which store are people visiting and having success?
I fancy this deal but want to know if I'm wasting my time.
I was locked out on iPhone, jumped through hoops online with photo evidence etc, was at Apple shop and service geek said just bring it in store with passport and receipt of item, he just calls office overrides and sets up, tip for next time you are locked out

My tablet wasn't checked at all by the staff. They just saw me hold it with the screen on. It was fine, but they didn't seem that bothered either way.

with a working tablet but bnot a kindle
I saw this in store yesterday and asked an assistant to the confirm offer. He stated at first stated I would only get the value of my old working tablet, but when I pointed out the wording on the label -£50 off any working tablet against the purchase of an ipad -he went and sought advice. He came back and agreed it was £50 off any ipad with a working tablet but not a kindle.

The terms say any tablet within 7 years which is working. They will give you £50 off regardless of what its worth as long as your purchasing a iPad. My Tablet was only worth £33. My purchase was made in Bridgend, South Wales.

True. I gave my old Samsung in for the new iPad, as long as the old tablet switches on

When you trade in the tablet, they give the discount in a form of gift card payment
Would this work if I traded in a Google Nexus 7? How do I know what tablets they would take?
