I hate Apple and their intentionally confusing device naming. I hate iOS …I hate Apple and their intentionally confusing device naming. I hate iOS even more for its stupidity, and that every upgrade is forced on the device which turns it more and more like a desktop calculator only

You won’t be buying then?
Looking for a replacement for my wife's 4 year old iPad but found that a previous purchase from eBuyer was technically a "grey import" with the foreign connections etc?
Might stick to the 3yr g'tee John Lewis UK version but tempting thanks.

Got an iPad for the Mrs. Bought in 2014 . To upgrade, I need to educate myself about iPad specs over the years to know which one is the latest.. what's wrong with using numbers like iPad 2, iPad 3..etc

You can’t buy them without WiFi. If you did then I think you have been had.

Ive just done this, for the wife from eglobal
bought 1 from John lewis to replace her ipad 2, but then realised i could get a 128gb for less money from eglobal than the 32gb i bought from John lewis (she just uses her original charger with the new flash lead & kept the new charger for when she goes abroad & has has downloaded all the families photos direct on to the 128 gb machine :-) )

I would have thought that in all these cases is that some EU country are receiving VAT or import duty (even for eglobal items that are grey imports shipped via the EU from China).

Apple have been trying for ages to get the iPad named simply the iPad as …Apple have been trying for ages to get the iPad named simply the iPad as in the Macbook or Macbook Air, you buy a Macbook or Macbook Pro, you dont name the revision etc.. thats what they want for the iPad, the problem is they diversified the iPad early on, and now they lost customers with all the confusion.

I'm not so sure. I think it's just that iPads got 'good enough' around the iPad 4/Air era and there's no more killer features you need to have so people are holding onto theirs for years now - there's no need to upgrade. Even this 'new 2017 iPad' is basically the iPad Air 1st generation with Touch ID, it's actually a step back from the Air 2's amazing laminated display, but don't tell anyone!

Very true about the screen! The 9.7 is now the budget model with older insides, while the pro has the better technology.

Also, retailers will be starting to look to shifting older models, as newer ones will be on the way soon!
New sets of ipads will be out next month. So consider this before buying.

But good price.
A shame it is such an awful company to be buying from
Much cheaper at eGlobal. Got one myself. Fast delivery from within the EU so no customs or VAT or import duty. Sealed, boxed, with warrranty.

good find
going to go off topic slightly. there seems to be a lot of split opinion on this forum about eglobal. as this is a consumer forum looking for the best value for our money, I think we should have a definitive opinion on the reliability of this company. maybe not for this particular thread

It's quite simple.
Most people get a new item delivered within a week and if it has no faults within the warranty period they are happy.
For the others, expect a very bad experience.
Had an ipad 2 since late 2014. Will not be upgrading anytime soon. Works perfectly for Netflix/iPlayer and other streaming services and browsing the internet.

Honestly I have no idea who is in the market for new tablets nowadays unless their old one is broken. No point in upgrading.
bought a samsung tablet e just couple of days ago, paid £ 87... three times cheaper than this ipad and with no worries that apple will brick it with an update
Having recently upgraded from an iPad 4 to an iPad Pro I'm not sure I agree. The iPad 4 was becoming very laggy and the battery life very poor. The pro is a joy to use in comparison.

the lesser known ethernet only ipad, comes with a reallly long network cable but the lightning adapter costs an extra £79.99

But surely you can get a cable cheap enough or use an old one. Us/EU makes no difference - I'd buy it.

I’m not disputing it.
Good price, eBuyer are a good company too, replaced/refunded my devices when I had issues very quickly.

Although one thing to note, as it's not very clear that is these aren't the latest devices (hence cheaper price) and are last years - I bought a Macbook in August 2017 and got an early 2016 model, which for nearly £250 less I couldn't care.
John Lewis have just price matched this for me with laptops direct as they have a physical store unlike ebuyer. Yes it's £4 more at £299 but personally I'd rather that and purchase from JL (not that I have anything against Ebuyer as I use them a lot).

This is the latest iPad released last year with the screen that has been downgraded by Apple so it's considerably worse quality than on previous models.
