Load of rubbish. It's an excellent tablet and still one of Apples top models. Good price OP

Using iOS 10 on my iPad Air 2 right now and it's fine! Even runs Rome Total War perfectly!!!

No sign of any 'creaking' at all.

Great price, even better with the 3 year guarantee. Can add 3 years accidental damage for £40 too if desired trumping AppleCare+ at £89 for 2 years.
Getting myself this. Good spot OP.

I have the original iPad air, which run iOS 10 perfectly fine, this I'm sure will be fine for many more years

Sorry to show my ignorance here, but why? What's the advantage if the older version over the new?

Decent deal given the new iPad is £340 for 32gb.

The screen is apparently marginally better on the old one. I personally can't tell the difference. I think the old one is a tiny bit thinner too. The new ones have later processors and better battery, however.

Would've gone for this but recently bought the new Ipad 128gb for £347.19 @ Very.

Prefer the Air 2 because it fits my Air 1 case perfectly.

The screen is constructed slightly differently (more expensively bonding the elements) which is apparently less reflective than the new model, but is barely noticeable according to reviews.

You have to balance that versus the upgraded SOC CPU in the new model. It's personal choice and as another poster pointed out both will run for years to come.

Thanks
I've had the air 2 since launch and it's still perfectly fine, I've not noticed any reduction in speed with iOS 10. Ignore mango
i have the new iPad having had to give the iPad Air 2 back to work. the screen in my opinion is noticeably different and annoys me a little as it pushed down a little on pressing. also there are zero cases on the market for the new iPad. had to buy a sleeve instead

I wish I'd gone for the iPad Air2 instead
Ps other technical specs between new iPad and iPad air 2 are largely the same. New iPad is wider though

I don't see any difference coming from iPad air 2. And there are lots of cases available for the new one. I bought this one: amazon.co.uk/iPa…017
Okay but would prefer a lower storage option with cellular. The cellular version has GPS whereas this version doesn't.

Good though if you really need 128GB and fancy the laminated screen on this older Air 2 versus the cheaper but better RGB performing screen of the new iPad.
Good price if you need this amount of storage, cheaper than the iPad Mini which only comes in a 128gb version now.

It's a good point why is the "air 2" on face value (excluding the currys deal) more expensive than the "new 2017 iPad"? Anyone know?

From what I can tell, the dimensions of the new 2017 iPad is the exact same as the original iPad Air, so I would assume that a case would fit.

New one has some cheaper components, in my opinion the screen is noticeably worse, not in terms of picture quality but in terms of built. Also not anti glare
Need to get a new iPad and saw this price drop a few days ago. Apart from surfing and email will be mainly using for Lightroom Mobile, so imagery. Therefore my thoughts are more with the Air 2 due to the better screen, my head says the new IPad due to cost and will I ever use the 128gb anyway.
Fab price, was considering the 32GB model from Tesco with £20 off taking it to £359 but, would have been peeved if I'd then seen this.

Air 2 has fully laminated screen and anti reflective coating, so it has a superior screen especially if you ever use it outdoors or in bright conditions. New ipad has better processor but is slightly thicker. Basically the new ipad has better internals than the Air 2 but an inferior screen to keep the cost down to a lower price point. New iPad screen is perfectly acceptable though it's not a bad screen.

Hardly. The new iPad is a budget model with the old non-laminated display. Other than a marginally faster CPU, it's not really better than the Air 2 in any way, other than being 'new'.
I've had my iPad Air 2 since release and I can confirm it's as good as the day I purchased it. Definitely no "creaking".
Currys sucks with a pricematch. I was trying to get pricematch on 2 items since now with 2 diffrent stores. They always saying that items is out of stock in shop where i want to do pricematch. Good price but for Currys its not even worth trying

Same here. I'm sure it will slow down in years but that laminated display is worth way more than a fractionally newer SoC and the A8X is tri-core as well. Annoyingly I put a tempered glass protector on my Air 2 and some of the display quality has been lost but the extra protection is worth it.

The 'new iPad' feels so fat and heavy compared to an Air 2 or Pro 9.7 - a regression, but I understand why.

No that's the new 2017 iPad - which is actually better priced than expected.
As others have said in the thread already, the difference between the 2017 iPad and the Air 2 is that the new one is slightly thicker as it doesnt have an anti-reflective display so in that regards the new iPad isnt as good as the Air 2. It does however have a slightly better/faster processor but, I doubt it will make that much difference for what most people use an iPad for, when the iPad Air 2 is a very capable device.

Yep you are 100% correct. The IPad Air 2 works no problem with IOS10. I really wish people would not post such ill informed rubbish that it doesn't.
