Found 2nd Aug 2015
I found this while looking for an iPad mini earlier, this is the same price as the mini but I think is better value for the same price.
I've had a look on HUKD and can't see any cheaper. they had plenty in stock near me.
Hope it helps someone!

I found the similar Argos deal for iPad Air 2 and had asked John Lewis for a price match in which they honoured it a few days back. Thought they also matched the price for iPad Air conditioning till now. 2 years warranty provided.

*conditioning is typo. There goes my auto complete with its air conditioning lol

You don't need the code to get this price

Not a bad price! May look into this!

Better to price match with John Lewis imho

I know it is more money, so I appreciate not really comparable, but the Ipad Air 2 64gb is £425 at Rakuten, plus £30 cashback via TCB

so for £120 more you do get a whole different beast and crucially that extra storage, now I know the age old argument comes up about space, but on a Ipad if like me you like your apps, you are going to be constantly deleting on this one, the latest apps (good ones) are usually now a min of 500mb up to 1.83gb, so just be aware, also this version does not have the thumbprint security, if that is important to you, can not argue against the price but you will rarely find anyone who does not regret getting a 16gb version, I know Apple fleece us on storage but on ipads you really need that space

The Air 2 also has 2GB RAM, which will get extra multitasking functions in the new iOS.

The older models will get obsolete at a faster rate.

Two things that I've noticed with the iPad Air, which might help people:

1. STORAGE
From my recollection, you have about 12GB free on a 16GB iPad. If you have magazine subscriptions or use services like Zinio and Readly, that space can evaporate very quickly. A single issue of GQ is about 300-400MB. I never played games, but many are >1-2GB installations. I would certain recommend going for a higher capacity, if you plan to use the iPad for more than web browsing and email.

2. MEMORY (which Apple doesn't tell you)
I often swap between browser tabs when looking up information online. Due to the memory constraints on the iPad Air - which is optimised for smooth transitions and overall OS 'experience' - tabs in Safari often re-load when you go back to them, even if you only have two relatively simple tabs open. I am told that the situation is better with the iPad Air 2, which has more RAM. It quickly gets very frustrating, when trying to book travel or compare prices online, and returning to open tabs forces them to re-load.

TL/DR: new, expensive things are better than older, cheaper things.

Thanks OP, seems like a good deal but the new iPad models are only just around the corner.

Agree with others in respect on memory and space but this is still a good deal if you want a iPad, extra "storage" can be had with a WiFi HDD.

Not bad

Also £279 at Tesco Direct plus 1.5% Quidco/TCB and in the clubcard boost.

Foolishly upgraded my old ipad 2 to iOS 8. Now is too slow. Does this one run iOS 8. It just says latest iOS in the argos description. If so I'll think I'll be getting one of these

Yes. It is currently 8.4 with iOS 9 due soon

IOS 9 is supposed to remedy some of the problems with slowing down that people with older machines have experienced with recent IOS 8 changes. I believe its been restructured to allow it to run better in machines with less RAM. Why they've been skimping on RAM on a 'premium' product is another issue....

You could get this for £258.90 from Amazon today using their £10 code.

I'm currently testing ios9 on my iPad Air at the minute and it's much smoother so far

I'd echo the comments about the 16GB version not having enough space. My wife is constantly deleting things to make space and it's a pain in the backside to be honest

Fulfilled by Amazon though, covered by their fantastic customer care and 1 year apple warranty. Each to their own though, I can appreciate why you'd be skeptical

A work colleague requested a price match from John Lewis and has had it honored.
So now shes got a decent price, extra warranty and a few quid spare to get a cover

Cheers for posting this find.

You can also just walk in to any JL store and check the related ipad stock. If there's any then just tell them other retailers eg Argos or Currys or Tesco selling them cheaper. JL staff can check about it instantly and honour the price.

I don't think you can revert it. It's something I signed up for with Apple to be an ios9 tester. I don't think iPad 2's were suited for ios7 cause of their capacity

I was originally looking for one for my mum so 16gb is more than enough for what I was looking for. Some cracking deals out there!

It seems like since I've posted this everyone is just posting the same deal price matched at other retailers
