Well it is an iPad Mini 16gb for £129.99, I know it is a refurb but the seller claims to give 12 months warranty so it seems they are confident about their stock. This is a lot cheaper than any of the other sellers.

With eBay's new returns system which is so biased towards the buyer I think it is worth the risk.

I have an iPad mini, I wouldn't recommend them anymore, they are too slow, based on the iPad 2.

I'd avoid this considering its basically a 2011 spec ipad in a smaller body

eBay. Electric stuff. Say no more

Ebays guarantees are as good as anyones nowadays.

But as for deals, ive just got a brand new ipad air 2 16gb off ebay for £225 delivered. Buyer was selling on behalf of a friend and advertised it as an air 1. Came fully wrapped up as though came straight from apple. Thats a result/bargain!

I thought this is the later model mini and not the first?

Nope, it is the first gen.

IMHO I wouldn't listen to people saying avoid this and that it's slow. We own both and I can't tell much of a difference.

I am happy with my ipad mini I managed to get new from Tesco for £134 on black Friday. Nothing wrong with the speed.

Bought a grade 6+ from these guys earlier this week. Came looking new and saved myself 25% on the rrp

It does have the same chip as an iPad 2, but the screen size and resolution mean that it's actually a lot quicker. My kids have the first iPad Mini and I have the second and there's not a huge amount of difference for most tasks.

then you're not using anything demanding on it.
for people who wanna play complex looking games and not just candy crush, they want a bit of power so it won't be slow and jerky.

Processor
Processor Type Apple A5
Processor Speed 1 GHz

Only the people who do not understand the specs, who are blindfolded by Apple brand will ever want to buy this tab nowadays considering you could get NEW Windows Tab with QUAD CORE processor for less than half price. Come on Apple stop to fool ordinary people ....

The resolution of an iPad Mini and iPad 2 are identical 1024x768.

Overall screen size should only affect the battery consumption, not the performance.

Screen size has nothing to do with it and the resolution of the iPad 2 and mini are the same,

Anyone know if you can get a cheapish robust case for the Mini?

Thinking of getting one for our 14 month old so she will let us have the bigger iPad back.

Then there must be another explanation because I've owned an iPad 2 and it was pretty slow compared to this.

Just had a read through their reviews, and it is a very mixed bag. Lots of reports that the iPhones they sell come in terrible condition. However, you do have a 14 day return policy and they don't seem to have negative reviews for iPad sales.

Also, note:

I would agree, only difference is the screen, however for everyday workings there absolutely perfect.

At £129 this is a super HOT price.

If anyone is on the fence, I found a seller selling Grade A ones for only £10 more:

ebay.co.uk/itm…664

Paid £100 for this model just before Christmas. Whilst this is a perfectly capable machine, based on it's performace I think this price seems just about right, but I wouldn't call it a deal.

I bought an iPhone from the seller, it was badly marked and died as soon as I turned it on. Had to get refund from eBay as the seller do not reply at all.. I will never buy anything from them ever..

Maybe they made a mistake?

I'm torn between laying down £140 for the Mini 1st gen, or spending about £40 more for the Mini 2nd gen? Is there much difference apart from the screen? I won't be using it for major games or anything.

Honestly? I'd save myself £40

Beware,
Universal Gadgets are a seriously shoddy company, theyu do not reply to emails and lie about things. Just Google them and you will see.

The warranty has loads of get outs for them as you would expect. basically they buy them in bulk, do not seem to check them properly and just flog them as soon as they come in.

I know I have a phone from them - the apparently excellent condition did not match with the big dent in the corner. They offered me a 99p phone case as compensation and then refused to reply to any emails I sent.

While I agree that this is a bit past it, specs aren't everything on a tablet. With tablets it's all about the apps. I'd still much rather have the original iPad mini than any android or windows offering based on the far superior apps and the fact that they're optimised for Apple hardware and screen resolution.

lol, apple isheep alert. what are you one about?
- far superior apps? you mean the apps which are on both OS

- optimised for apple hardware and screen resolution - what are you on about? android apps are optimised for android hardware so the point is?
- also, apple mini (all versions) have lower specs including screen than premium android devices eg Samsung tab s 8.4

ebay.co.uk/itm…127?

This isn't an iPad Mini 2 Retina Display is it? iPad Mini 2 doesn't come in black and has an extra microphone port on the back? This is black and doesn't...

This is a GOOD BUY for the AVERAGE USER. Don't let these other people let you think it's horrible because of the specs. I got one of these from Tesco's on black friday for £150 and I don't regret it. I was going to sell it for an iPad Mini 2nd Gen but I honestly don't see the point.

1) Storage - Is fine unless you want to store movies and 100's of apps (I've barely used mine up)

2) Speed - I use mine primarily for Netlix, Prime Instant Video, 8 Ball Pool, Clash of Clans, internet browsing and a few other odd things. The speed is completely fine - there isn't any lag, overheating etc

3) iOS - I own a OnePlus One (Android) and an iPad Mini (iOS) also previously owned an iPhone 5. Although OS is mainly personal preference I definitely feel iOS is suited for tablets as they're just used less than phones and you want it to be a simple, smooth experience IMO. But for my mobile device that gets tuns of used Android is miles ahead of iOS.

4) Usage - Just remember you probably won't use this as much as a smartphone. So you don't need the best storage, greatest specs, lots of customisation etc

5) Apps - iOS has the BEST quality of applications - there is no if's and but's about it

6) Non-HD or Apples Retina screen - you get over it, it's not a big deal. It's a 7.9" tablet for doing minor things, it's not a 50" TV

If you are average user who isn't going to be doing video editing, running extremely graphic intensive games, etc then you will be 100% happy with this. I'm a power user myself (I'm into jailbreaing, rooting etc) but for what I use this tablet for I can't see how the average user could fault it.

lolololol, hold on a minute. funny how apple isheep kept on about this when the ipad was better, now it isn't better its "oh it doesn't matter" - so are we now saying that apple isheep are also hypocrites?

id agree that until recently ios is more suited to tablets but the latest version of android tablets like the Samsung tab s and sony equivalents are a lot better than the android tablets of old and better than the apple ipad, especially the smaller ones
I don't agree with 4 and from your comments your just an apple fan pretending to own an android device as its clear you have never used one

storage is more useful than most people think - I have used up over 50gb on my tab s

the apple ipad mini is nice but there are better android devices now. the only reason for buying an apple device is if you are locked into the apple eco system with other devices and apps, fashion victim, like the look of it, its at a sensible price like now

my wife has an apple mini and she is forever having problems with it - cant do this, cant do that eg printing issues, etc. one button just seems demented too, I hate using it

Barely understood you comment

But it's a good tablet for £130 and screen size is completely an individual thing

I am an Apple fan pretending to own an Android device? Please get over yourself. My primary device is a OnePlus One (ROOTED AND FLASHED BLISSPOP V2.0 2/10) and used as a my daily driver. There is nothing wrong with my iPad Mini and I can accept. You sound like an Android fanboy that just completely hates Apple. I have ONE Apple device (my iPad) so I'm not even locked into anything.

1) iOS has better quality apps
2) Apple makes products that look great, so what? If you buy a device partly because it looks good then that's no issue
3) The average user does not need 50GB of storage
4) The average user isn't printing anything off any tablet device

- optimised for apple hardware and screen resolution - what are you on … - optimised for apple hardware and screen resolution - what are you on about? android apps are optimised for android hardware so the point is?

The point is that Android needs to run on a variety of different of different processor architectures and amounts of memory, and the screen resolution can be anything from 640x480 to 4K. It may have hardware buttons below the screen, it may have soft buttons on the screen. Apple support only a limited number of resolutions (although it's getting more complicated these days) and only a very few processor architectures. So yes, it's much easier to optimise an iOS device for the hardware, since you've got a much better idea what it is, rather than relying on the inner virtual machine to do the optimization for you.

Don't know why people feel the need to defend their favourite architecture. I have an Android phone and an iOS tablet, both are good. I find iOS generally smoother and easier to use, but more limited in the options it gives me.

Anyone saying there's no difference between the mini 1 and mini 2 clearly didn't do much between switch the units on. Ipad 2 has retina display which is a must these days on tablets, also is markedly faster at processing. The iPad mini will struggle to load even a fairly lightweight webpage without it stuttering, whereas the 2 loads very smoothly.

I had the 1, and hated it. Returned and got the 2 for not much more and I love it.
