Be careful, these are shipped from China I believe, and will be considered 'grey market', so any warranty won't work in the UK.

Good price if you're happy with all that though.

Where did you get that idea from? Apples warranty is international, doesn't matter where it's from.
Hi.yes ,it won't include Apple warranty, I. have contacted eglobalcentral support, 1 year warranty only for eglobalcentral.

From the site :

Please note that all our products are imported goods and will not come … Please note that all our products are imported goods and will not come with manufacturer's warranty but instead we will cover the warranty through our own company.

DONT forget the import tax. It could be another £50 on top, and you wont know until you get an invoice from the carrier about a month later
I strongly recommend NOT buying from this site. I placed an order for this exact item on Saturday 28 November, they took the money straight away of course. As of yesterday evening, the order was still unshipped. I have now asked for a refund. Bearing in mind it will come from Hong Kong, you'll be looking at 2+ weeks minimum before you see your item. Communication is awful, they claim to have live chat but it never works. Just look at their facebook page, full of worried customers, all asking "where is my stuff?"

I 'got that idea' from fact. Google 'grey market'.

Good luck using the warranty on this in the UK.

If it is the same warranty as on iphones it won't be valid in the uk. This is why it's often uneconomical to buy apple products from the US.
First post, eh?

Voted cold.
Shame about the warranty as the price was decent, keep the posts coming OP

Hong Kong, not the Mainland.

Ipads have worldwide warranty but I still wouldn't buy from Eglobal.

They normally ship from HK to Germany then to the UK to avoid UK Duty/tax.

I ordered on Black Friday and still haven't received any shipping details. Or any respone to the three emails I have sent them. Hopeless.

I don't believe this is true.

I just asked Apple this question directly, they said warranty for non authorised retailers is not international, and to contact the seller in question regarding the warranty.

Eglobalcentral have even stated on their site to suggest they would provide warranty, not Apple.

I'd be wary of any of this, unless you're happy to mess around with a warranty handled outside of the UK.

There is NO Import Tax
If this is shipped from outside the EU , then there is a risk of £34 VAT and £15 admin charge being added. Just to muddy the warranty question further, I've ordered a grey import from Pixelelectronics on Rakuten - they ship from within the UK but they state it comes with a manufacturers warranty and a member who purchased one from earlier in the year, got theirs repaired by Apple.....
Why hasn't this post been removed? Surely the seller doesn't qualify for hukd?
I have bought a few items from eGlobalcentral and saved about £500 doing so. I have ordered on a Friday night and the item has arrived the following Tuesday by UPS shipped from Singapore. Despite my initial fears, I have never had to pay any import duty.

I don't know about Apple's warranty, I had always believed that it was international but as for the items I have bought, eGlobalcentral have their own warranty with a UK returns address which, in the case of the Nikon and Zoom equipment I bought, is 2 years. However, I registered them on their respective UK sites and have received technical support. But my philosophy has always been to manage my own risk, as far as consumer goods go, especially if there are considerable savings to be made. I have never bought an extended warranty, for example, and the amount I have saved would have purchased new items many times over. Why pay companies to manage my risk?

As for grey imports such as these, I have saved, on average, about a third of the best UK price whilst still being covered by a warranty which is the same period of the manufacturer's warranty.

I am anticipating buying another £400+ item early next year and will have no hesitation buying from eGlobalcenral or one of the other far eastern exporters. I suspect that the fearmongering is from people who don't want other people to save money because they are to scared to do so themselves. Incidentally, you can choose to pay by PayPal so there is an additional level of protection.

I'm just a bit perplexed why the posts I have made to eGlobalcentral deals (and similar) have been deleted.

I don't know why not. There are dozens of deals posted which involve stuff being shipped from the EU and outside the EU.

Why are eGlobalcentral and the like subject to having posts to their deals deleted?

Nail, head, hit

Completely agree - weigh up the risks and order (or not) accordingly but its good to make sure people know what the risks are. Once got stung when I imported something from the US - was 14 years ago though....

I can't say. But with any foreign merchant that is "new" to HUKD, the mods have to balance the risks against the financial gains for members. DX, Focalprice etc were not initially allowed on HUKD until sufficient members could vouch for them. Same has probably happened with eglobalcentral.

Got a sealed iPad Mini 3 Space Grey 16Gb for 235. Bought from Tesco but never used, still sealed. Check out my for sale page on hukd:

Indeed it seems I was mistaken. Macbooks (which I used to have), do indeed have international warranties. iPhones and cellular ipads do not, most likely because models do vary slightly between regions.

It looks like wifi iPads technically fall in the same category as iPhones, which seems like a con given that wifi iPads are the same in all countries. But people have had success getting them fixed abroad under Applecare, which I suspect is because there are no regional differences between wifi iPads.

This is a bit of a pain because I just bought a European iPhone 6. So hopefully it doesn't break!

j4j - it is against forum guidelines to promote your for sale items in any of the forum areas other than for sale....if this was allowed deal threads would be spammed by people trying to sell their items.....

IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE AND iPAD SERVICE.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.

That said, people have had success with servicing iPads abroad, so I guess its as Apple discretion.
