Happy for this to go cold but I need to post anyway. Respect to @MrSwitch for the post on the 64GB version a couple of weeks ago which prompted me to get this. The reason for posting is that the vendor Supreme Mobile UK sent me an immaculate one with not one battery charge cycle. The only downside compared to new for me was that the box was not apple and the charging cable is attached to the charger. A great saving versus new of £544 however (43% off by my maths).

@mustardsenf Did yours have any Apple warranty left on it at all? Do you know the manufacture date by any chance?

Seems not on the warranty as I looked it up just now. Comes up as follows based on serial number:
Valid Purchase Date
Telephone Technical Support: Expired
Repairs and Service Coverage: Expired

Did not tell me the manufacture date. Do you know how I check?

Not on these I'm afraid, as they're not refurbished from Apple directly. You'll only be able to add AppleCare in the event that it's within it's original 60 days of purchase (as in the first purchase pre-refurbishment).

I checked on a Macbook with the CoconutBattery app. Plugged the iPad into the Macbook to allow access, and then CoconutBattery gave me both the original manufacture date as well as battery cycles.

Tough to recommend tbh. High price anyway, mixed reviews on the link from amazon. No apple care or extendable warranty. All of this means a big risk even if you can get a refund easily.

Fair enough. the key was the easy refund for me versus eBay etc, which is a huge mitigant to the risks you mention. Unarguably still a lot of money and took me weeks to take the plunge - but comparing to CEX and others was good value in my view.

Plus you get 12 months warranty with Amazon themselves, which is more you'll get than with other higher-priced ones on eBay!

Yeah I can definitely see why its worth taking a punt on. As you said, key is the ease of refund. Almost no quibble. Though you’d have to do the ins and outs checks on the battery etc. Then there’s being okay with no warranty however compared to everyone else as you mention it’s an easier company to deal with.

One of those things. Not voted either way because someone that has that time needed to do the checks and bank balance to not miss £700 or need it potentially urgently, could make the deal work for them.
Or if you want something that works perfectly and is a bit cheaper...

Would only ever purchase renewed from Apple - too risky from anyone else
Bought the iPad 12.9 from same seller at the same price as this listing. Came as new with 3 battery cycles. No AppleCare but comes with 12 months amazon warranty.Voted hot!

That's my thoughts too.

This is where we diverge as the £1,079 Apple refurbished price I would not be willing to pay for this device. For me the £725 is almost a 2nd Hand private eBay price, but amazing condition, new battery and the 12 month amazon warranty. My hope is like with a 2nd Hand car, if they survive the first 12 months, your risks are hugely mitigated of having bought a lemon.

The first one I got from them had a battery with 97% battery capacity, a scratched screen and no warranty. I then returned it. I saw a offer on here for £549.99 for the 64gb cellular...so I took the gamble again and it paid off! Got a perfect condition one, with 100% battery capacity. I put the serial number into the Apple website and it has a year limited warranty with apple, i got 60 days to purchase apple care on it and because it was clearly Apple refurbished i got a year of free AppleTv+. Excellent value!
