Having done some research over the last few days to figure out which iPad I wanted, following Apple releasing a new iPad I've gone for the iPad Pro 10.5". I got one a few days ago (not 4G) and it's brilliant.

The iPad Pro 10.5" is basically the same as the current iPad Air 10.5" except with:

- True Motion display
- 4 speakers across both sides, rather than 2 speakers on 1 side.
- better camera
- more RAM

Unlike the current iPad pros this one has Touch ID & a Headphone jack too :-)

The Air and new Pros have a slightly better processor, but for most people the other things will be more noticeable.

It’s not a bad deal by any means but I purchased the 256GB 4G cellular model for not much more than this without the code. The tablet was immaculate although it had come from a cash converters store but sold via eBay. I was able to submit a best offer which was accepted.

Point I’m getting at here is don’t always jump when there’s a 10% off code - it’s not always the cheapest time to pull the trigger.

On this tablet though,it’s.a leap forward over gen 1 (I own both generations) and it doesn’t suffer the occasional screen freeze bug of the 1st gen. The pencil works flawlessly with both - but is in my opinion a waste of cash unless you buy one cheap. They definitely aren’t worth £100.

The 10.5 has the sweet spot for me. The 12.9 is a monster and isn’t that portable. This is and it’s great with a Bluetooth keyboard. It can make a good work horse but it’s also fantastic for gaming. Processing power is significantly better than gen 1 and it shows in some of the more demanding games.

Sure the iPad 11 is a tempting prospect but right now the best bang for buck is the 10.5. I’d not recommend cellular these days as tethering is easy enough. Invest the extra in storage - if you install large apps or store movies for later playback it’s still better to have the internal storage over portable storage options. If you play movies and TV a lot get yourself Infuse - by far the best app for the job and a life saver on a plane journey!
