I have the 2017 pro 10.5” and it’s still lightning fast so those saying they are slow as 2years old are talking nonsense. Of course they aren’t as fast as the 2019 model that’s blatantly obvious but it doesn’t make them slow.

Anyway if you are on about the Hue lighting then that is 1 colour out of the 16 million, not sure what your fetish to live with prostitutes has got to do with it.

If you pick the lower storage options the price increases weirdly.
Is the 2nd generation 2017 model?

Thx Ordered 1.
Good price if you need this model and the large storage, but some things are a bit slower on the A10X SoC these days, that’ll only worsen over time, just remember it’s 2 years old now.

Agree, that's the reason I went for ipad air and quite happy with it

Yes, I looked at that - very similar to the Pro 10.5 I already have but went for the mini 5 - the A12 SoC in these 2019 models is so fast and will be plenty for quite some time. It feels a lot quicker than the A10X in the Pro 2017 models.

I agree with what you're saying but maybe the 12.9 screen size is more important if that is what you're after, especially when your only other choice is the 12.9 latest version which is a lot more expensive.

It's going to be a very specific set of people who need the bigger screen size and lots of storage but will accept a 2-year old tablet though. That's why I said it was a 'good price' still. It's just that you are still paying a lot and the device lifetime is shorter than devices with newer chips - even the 1st gen Pros are suffering slowdown. Then again I had countless issues with the 3rd gen Pros, that's why I went back to the Pro 10.5.

That’s not what anyone said... I have both in front of me now. The Pro 10.5 is fine now but it’s not as fast as the newer (and cheaper) iPads - and maybe it doesn’t bother you but it might be worth considering that if you’re spending nearly £600 on a tablet... if you’re spending that kind of money you might want to ask if you need the Pro features and bigger display that much over the Air 3 which is now fairly close in spec and supports the Pencil, which used to be Pro-only domain as it follows you want it to last as long as possible. The 1st gen Pro is noticeably slower now and that’s only got a year on the 2nd gen Pros.
Blimey.
Thanks . Been looking to buy this for ages. Thanks again .

I would go for an apple refurb over this. Due to better customer service

I have the new pro 11” my wife has the 2017 pro. Both of us have iPadOs beta installed and the speed differential is very slight. This is a good deal on this machine and despite being two years old iPadOs will make this shine!
This does not have the USB C port isn't it? Just cripples it IMHO
This is one of those things I know I’ll never be able to afford but I still vote hot because it’s a good deal

No denial here, I just have financial sense not to top up Apples super profits when superior hardware exists for a fraction of the price.

IOS use to give Apple an edge but now even it's OS is behind vanilla Android.
12.9 inch has bezels for days
Great price though, I got the iPad Pro 10.5 512GB brand new with Apple Keyboard and Apple Pencil for £600
I have one of these for my piano music. Almost the same size as a sheet of A4. Really useful. Still very fast. I love it.

But if you buy it from Argos and it develops a fault then you can just take it to Apple for it to be sorted,so buying from Apple will make no difference.

What would you recommend?
For anyone worrying about comments saying it will be slow due to it being 2 years old, well don't worry as it is still lightning fast and more than powerful enough for me to edit videos for YouTube and export them in a decent time.

I purchased the 1st gen ipad on release day and the 2nd gen on release day but I didn't bother with the latest model as for me it felt like a piece of cheap tat as it is so flimsy and light, plus I didn't see any videos that showed any real world advantage of the extra power of the latest generation, especially when you consider how much more expensive it is.

Without sounding like I'm being a big head but I could buy any ipad I want but I see no real reason to get the new model over this one.

Yeah.. but not so. If you want to claim under the consumer laws... e.g. the screen becomes unresponsive after the warranty has expired then you need to go to the retailer (not the manufacturer). See apple.com/uk/…ty/

Well i was more talking about in warranty, plus you just said about Apple customer service and nothing about out of 1 year warranty claims, but if you want to talk about out of the 1 year then you shouldn't have a problem with Argos as we purchased an ipad air for my son from them and after 2 years it developed a fault and I took it back to our local store and they refunded me a decent percentage of the price we paid,we didn't have to argue and we didn't have to send it away to be inspected or have an independent report done,in fact I'd go as far as saying it was easier than it would have been at Apple.
