If people can justify the cold votes, then I have no issue. I just hope that they don't mind posting the deal they've found that is better than this when they do so!

Tesco is cheaper by £20 after using code. The only downfall is its only 2 year Cover by tesco I think. Hot for me

Great price for an amazing tablet.

I have the same tablet but with 4G. Could not fault it. It's even running iOS 10 beta 5 and it's flawless

Tesco only offer a 1 year warranty. I personally would say that £20 for an additional two years is worth the cost, plus the quality of John Lewis' customer service.

Manufacturer Warranty Period Telephone support for the first 90 days and a one-year limited warranty.

Do you find that you get decent usage of the 4G connectivity, krisward? I don't know whether to go for the cellular, or whether to just go for the Wi-Fi model and then tether when needed?

Honestly I've never used 4G as the iPad stays in the house. But it's nice to have the option of taking it out. Plus it's more easily saleable with 4G when I come to sell it

Second best score on Antutu benchmark test. First being the 12.9 version

Get a freedompop sim with free 200mb every month and use the 4G as a find my ipad option. I believe that since the 4G has the cellular it also has the GPS capability too whilst the wifi version doesn't.

100% agree with that! Total no brainer.. If your paying £579 for something an extra £20 for 2 years extended warranty by a reputable company is money well invested weather it turns out you needed it or not this is a perhaps the best tablet money can buy at the minute.. I got the 12.9 version and it's a beast! Heat added..

heat added, my iPad 3 is still going strong!

what is the point in the these expensive tablets?

In the eyes of some buyers, these are worth the price premium. For some, a £50 no-brand tablet will suffice (and there is no issue with that). For others, they would rather pay more for (what they and a number of others believe) is a higher quality product.

Do you have to buy the £49 extra protection at the same time or can it be done within a month or so?

I really want one of these for art stuff, but the extra money for the Apple Pencil and that I know that I'd want the 12.9 screen size stops me. Such a shame, cause the price is the best I've seen yet

I really want one even though I don't necessarily need the Pro features, Im thinking for the long term of iOS updates. Decisions, Decisions

Is this the best option for an artist to go portable?
It costs more than a laptop and does half the job but it's what I've been looking at recently but just can't justify the silly money.

Whether you have an issue or not, there aren't any rules on voting Hot or Cold, and people will vote cold for logical and illogical reasons and there's simply nothing you can or will be able to do about it. They'll vote cold just because you expressed your opinion now, that's how it is here. Also it won't go down well if you expect people to tell you why they voted cold, they won't and possibly will force more cold voting.

What makes the pro worth twice as much as the Air 2?

Best ipad to date for thinness, speakers and screen quality.

iPad Pro 9.7 + Pencil + Notability app = Best note taking system available today.

The writing experience is far better than the Surface Pro series ( I also own the Surface Pro 3 with the latest pen )

I don't own the iPad Pro keyboard, which I would think is nowhere near as good as the Surface Pro 4 keyboard (Which I do own)

Have to agree with this. Apple Pencil used with Notability works incredibly well in my workflow. I do a lot of research (legal) and have entirely eliminated actual paper. Even items that I can't access digitally, I tend to use TinyScan Pro to scan everything in to PDF, then import to notability for annotation etc.

I also have the keyboard, and I think it's good for what it is (I'm typing on it now), particularly when used in conjunction with MS Word. I wouldn't want to be writing 1000s of words on it - fatigue will set in rather quickly if you have large hands like I do. With that said, the experience on the larger iPad Pro may be better as the keys are more spaced out.

Both accessories I find are pretty excellent, if not expensive. I'm pretty sure the Surface keyboard is better for note taking/long haul typing sessions. I think the Pencil is pretty unmatched however. If you're an artist (I'm not), then reviews of both, by artists, would indicate it is more or less a 'no brainer'

its not twice as much chap, £429 Air 2 with 64gb, compared to normal price of Pro 9.7" with 128Gb as no 64Gb option is £619, for the difference, you get a better screen, sound and its faster! Let alone the rest of the stuff like writing etc, I know its best with the pen and thats extra, but we're talking like for like iPad's

If you do any travelling in Europe, then do what I do...
Buy a 12GB data sim from Three for £23, stick it in a mifi, and you can then have fast data throughout much of Europe on ALL your devices.
(The problem with 4G in the iPad itself is that you can't share that connection when abroad).
If you only intend to use the iPad in the UK, then the 4G option would certainly be useful

Ipad pro vs MS surface pro 4 ?

Is it worth upgrading to the "3 years Added Care (accidental damage cover) " for £49?
Anyone had any experience of the cover with screens damaged, etc.?

The only area the iPad Pro beats the surface pro is in note taking. The iPad Pro is not a computer replacement. Not by any means. What it does it does extremely well, in a compact size. The camera is far superior to the surface pro camera.

Hot price for this- and with excellent JL customer service. It's an awful lot of cash for a tablet- are you not as well adding to this (if you can) and getting a MacBook? The Very deal had these coming in around £680. Can do a lot more on one of those.

3 year warrantee (they will try polity and upsell with accident damage warrantee - your house content insurance should cover this so skip)
"No quibble at all JLP returns"
We have the 64GB model - all good, that smart keyboard is awsome but a iMac bluetooth keyboard etc works great for Word etc.

After all, it was the proponents of leave that implored us all to ignore expert opinion/intellect. Their very campaign was built on a platform of ignorance and lightly veiled xenophobia

I was merely having a laugh chap, its just as difficult to claim the people who voted leave were ignorant as well but the previous poster claimed some group was, like I said in jest chap.

This is going down in price as Apple will launch the new one in 2nd week of sept along with iPhone 7 so keep your money for such a little saving best wait for the newer model

I'd say pay the £49 for the cover, there is no excess with JL cover s far as I am aware, claim on your house policy, excess, claim against you etc. Thats how I see it, I'm trying to find out if you have to purchase it at the same time or can it be done a month or so later.

Hi
Assuming most household insurance have an excess of £50 (ours does) - worth checking and you have been with them a while (speedy pay out) the £49 spent is cancelled out - well unless there are a few accidents!
I would personally skip but I see your view.
Worth noting JLP accident damage cover does NOT cover a business purchase.
cheers

Doubt it since it was only released 5 months ago. Likely to be the ipad pro 2 12.9 this september.

Debate question, here - Are you not better off getting a Surface Pro 4 for £100 more that can do far far more than this tablet?

ps
if you do get the 9.7" Pro this case is the one we got amazon.co.uk/gp/…c=1 lovely quality and much much less likely to have accident damage.
On that point the cover doesn't include cosmetic damage on JLP - home insurance may do - worth checking - if a scratched screen made it 'difficult to use' claim would surely be accepted?
The smart keyboard is a revelation but silly price.
Edit
just noticed this and bought one myself with £10.00 off will invest in the pencil now - about time
