Apple iPhone 5s 16GB Almost Perfect from £120.00 using O2 Refresh "trick"

55
Found 25th Jul 2016
To get the price to £120 choose "Almost Perfect" and 16GB then the £16 a month 300MB plan (any of the others without an upfront payment would do, but as theres a chance they MAY charge you for the few days before you cancel on a pro-rata basis and keep the phone, best to opt for the cheapest one.)

Space Grey and Silver available at time of posting

Upfront Cost - £0 +
£5 x 24 = £120

If you want to opt for a "Perfect" one
Upfront Cost - £0 +
£6 x 24 = £144

YES I KNOW THIS WON'T SUIT EVERYONE, BUT FOR SOME IT WILL BE FINE!

Now o2 customers services representatives are known to be a bit slow so you might need to speak to someone who is on the ball. They should then cancel the airtime and you would have paid off the phone so you have a fully unlocked iPhone 6 for only £72.00.PS: Some people have stated that o2 sometimes do not cancel the airtime contract part and they get sent bills afterwards, to avoid this I would recommend after you have cancelled the airtime after a few hours or days contact o2 support again and confirm that they have cancelled the airtime plan and get them to confirm in writing.I know its a bit of a long winded way to get the phone but if all goes well should be worth it

Wow great idea

Not sure I could recommend a 16GB phone now. It's worth stretching for that extra 16GB.
Or buy it without the faff of refresh for £129.99

Given some of the negatives I've read on here about cancelling the airtime contract I think I'd rather spend the extra tenner.

if you manage it correctly there is no reason why 16GB isn't enough, but if you want all your music and videos on it then for sure go for higher.

Op good luck with this one, with the 6 now £189 might be tough to get this sky high, last time o2 had them they were only £96 which seems the right price now that the 6 has come down so much.

True, but some people prefer to save all they can, and if you buy it as Pay as you go, then theres no free unlock....

OK so this is how it works:

Step 1 : Buy phone as above with the above listed plan.

Step 2: Wait for phone to arrive. Once it has arrived put the O2 sim into the phone and make a 10-20 second phone call to activate the phones IMEI on O2's system (You need to do this if you want to unlock the phone to use any sim card)

Step 3: Next go to O2's online unlock webpage to unlock your phone for free: https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset%20Unlocking%20Form

Step 4: Once unlock request is done it takes 1-7 days to unlock. I would recommend you wait until the phone is unlocked before doing the next step.

Step 5: Once the phone is unlocked sucessfully ring 02 and tell them you want to pay off the device plan which should be £5 x 24 = £120 and you want to also at the same time cancel the airtime. Now o2 customers services representatives are known to be a bit slow so you might need to speak to someone who is on the ball. They should then cancel the airtime and you would have paid off the phone so you have a fully unlocked iPhone 6 for only £189.99.

PS: Some people have stated that o2 sometimes do not cancel the airtime contract part and they get sent bills afterwards, to avoid this I would recommend after you have cancelled the airtime after a few hours or days contact o2 support again and confirm that they have cancelled the airtime plan and get them to confirm in writing.

It's not free to unlock on pay as you go because O2 charges £15.00 to unlock your phone

Is there a link to the 'iPhone6 deal'? Thanks
AlexGUK

But they don't all come like that my friend

Agreed, i guess you could always send it back if it doesn't arrive unlocked, or use the 99p "3" Networks sim trick to unlock. Again, the whole potential "flag on my credit score" issue is the only thing that puts me off using this refresh method. Have to admit, would love to buy the iPhone 6 for £190, but I bet I'd be one of the unlucky folks that has issues. Lol.

Possibly locked, but free to unlock straight away via the O2 account you'll have created.

click on the almost perfect and then pay as you go,

they lock to the first sim and there has been a mention of a £15 charge to unlock them on pay as you go, however if they have never had a sim in them you can unlock for free/ straight away using the 3 sim card trick, put in a 3 sim and it wont lock to the first sim card. 3 are the only ones who do this.
How much warranty is with the handset?

Not bothered about it locks if I can put EE card in and still do the cancellation process as my daughter will want to use it straight out the box on her birthday.
I ordered this last night. Had almost perfect and it has come like brand new. There's not a mark on it. Made a short call to 202 to activate it and filled out the online form to unlock. Once done I'll pay it off and cancel the contract. Haven't read all the comments but in case it's not been noted, on refresh the unlock is free. If you take the phone on payg then you have to pay £15.
I have ordered 2 to go in clear otterbox cases I got for £6 each off Amazon :). Regarding the adverse credit marker topic, just don't cancel the Direct Debit and all should be fine. If you are incorrectly charged after cancellation, just give them a bell and it will get sorted, easy.

Now I think it's time to order the LIFE mobile £5.95 sim with 1000 mins 1.5GB data with a £1 overspend cap for my son

This is a pre-used phone...so it's more than likely going to be locked to O2.

Also, don't expect this to come with a fancy Apple box/headphones/charging plug. It won't

Just received an iPhone 6S on O2 Refresh and it is locked to O2 - I first tried my Three sim and it wouldn't activate so I've requested a free unlock which I am now waiting for before cancelling the Airtime contract. Anyone know if you get charged for data use before the contract is cancelled?

I very much doubt it'll be free. It'll be charged pro rata I imagine. So if you have 500MB allowance per month, then you have around 16MB to use per day.

(Basically, just put your O2 sim to one side - it's not worth using it)

A refurb will be locked to o2 as already activated.

iphone5s:

On 02 nearly new payg order my i5s was never activated by Apple, thus a 3UK sim worked and been using EE sim since.

On 02 refresh refurb deal the i5s was activated by a previous o2 customer and locked down to o2 and I had to request unlock.

Dont use the o2 sim or a nasty set up charge for data via activation may occur, await unlock or use a payg o2 sim to activate iphone then use wifi until unlock .
