Exactly, this is a loan and therefore will have the same impact on your CR as taking out any other loan. Don't take this out if you're looking for legitimate credit and/or a mortgage in the next 6-12 months.

So I can take out the contract. Then cancel it when I have the phone and just pay the balance?

Are these boxed phones with all accessories?
Could you please show a screenshot of the deal? Cant seem to see it

The description is confusing me slighltly. Why does it say like new but then give the choice between perfect and perfectly fine etc?

great deal
good deal, a bit confusing though, what does perfectly fine mean against perfect?
What is the warranty length?
Just few months from apple...but you also get 12 months from o2

it was a joke
For those confused by 'Perfectly fine' :

"Perfectly FinePerfectly Fine phones have been a bit more loved, but are still working well. They might have superficial scratches on the back, sides and screen but there will be no more than five deep scratches or chips up to 2mm in length. And you'll get a 12 month warranty to put your mind at ease."
It is only this price for "perfectly fine"
If you want to get blacklisted than go for this deal as that is what exactly happened to me when I took the same deal out on samsung galaxy s7 edge.
light scratches with no more than 5 deep scratches or chips oO

For this reason, it is not worth the risk. Pay £70 more and get one on ebay.

Got one of these last time it was posted. The deal process worked perfectly and phone is as new, not a single flaw. Apple warranty to March 2018. It's also worth adding that the phone can be unlocked at no extra cost within this deal process.

Oh, and:

Credit score on Experian is 999/999 still.

Seems like good deal!! But from previous experience O2 will mess the final bill up and charge you termination costs (several hundred pounds). Just remember to cancel your dd straight after cancelling your contract and pay any final charges over the phone or internet once the final bill gets sent.
Not sure about it negatively affecting your credit score..I have always thought paying off any loan would leave a positive mark?

tried this on the Samsung s7 edge and still trying to get to the bottom of the error o2 have caused so far they have sent me a bill for almost £400 for a error there advisor caused on my account I've had to cancel my direct debit cause of it and had nothing but trouble trying to sort it the deal its self is great just be prepared for the fall out

Dont listen to the doubters regarding being "blacklisted". Done the refresh deal 3 times with no issues at all. Never got black listed and credit score was never affected. Think about it, its a loan, you pay it off, so shows you as a good repayer. Ive remortgaged, and taken out loans all since doing them-no issues. Problems only normally arise when it hasnt been cancelled in the right order (pay off phone one day, and cancel airtime the next). Can only speak of my experiences with this, which is problem free, and with no decrease in credit score.

Can anyone quantify, 'Perfectly Fine' is that an dodgy eBayers idea? Or a dodgy PCWorld sales assistants idea of the condition?

How can you have 'perfect, and fine? Both words describe differently. Perfect is no cosmetic marks at all. Fine I imagine means 'Well, yeah, it's OK, mate, but there are a few scratches'

I think that Rich069 is saying that this problem doesn't happen to everyone. I can confirm it didn't happen to me.

I think the problem happens when people don't ensure that O2 have properly closed the account and terminated the contract, or they use the SIM after they have agreed to end the contract. Then O2 attempt to take a DD and it is refused, so this will get added to the credit history.

Make absolutely sure the contract is properly terminated and there will be no problem. Of course, O2 can still mess up but if they do then it's down to them and they will have to put it right.

Perfectly fine meaning a perfectly functioning phone not necessarily condition.

But I can tell you that mine is as new, not a single blemish anywhere - it's a lucky dip.
