Is there anyway to unlock the iphone xr, I was sure you can't in the first 6 months of the phone being network locked

Its over 6 months old, so there may be a chance.
How can second hand phones not be unlocked? Surely if they are been sold they have no contract so can be unlocked?

Traded in locked

Yeah but they are either traded in and still on contract so at risk of been locked if reported lost/stolen or they are bought out of contract or payg and in which case networks will unlock them?

Phones don't automatically unlock after a contract ends - you still have to ask the network to do it for you, and not everyone does.

Yeah I mean surely they aren’t tied to a network contract so you can now just get them unlocked for free as most networks don’t charge to unlock phones not tied to contract anymore or at worst pay the £10/15 fee to get them unlocked?

Yeah, all of them, so this one has obviously been traded in still in contract, and if it gets blocked I'd assume music magpie would refund you with the 12 month warranty

You'd pay the fee - networks are still shit about that and would do it for free for the contract holder but charge someone else.

Also for some reason some of the unlocked ones are cheaper than the locked ones...

Oh I get you, I wonder if you can tell if these are still attached to contracts as I wonder if music magpie would refund you say 12 months down the line if it’s happened if bill wasn’t paid etc

The phone is yours to keep after a certain amount of time anyway, so 12 months may be pushing it.
Anyone bought a 'Pristine' one from Music Magpie before? Are they genuinely Pristine?
Some good prices in there if they're in good condition, you should post deals more often whatever yr name is 🍌

They are, very good, and good I've had in pristine condition as well
I got the XR free on the AM deal and to tell the truth, I’m not really impressed with it. My old 6S is not much inferior.

Most phones if in contract will be 2 years and these could have anything up to 2 years left but definitely over a year and if during that entire contract the original owner reports lost/stolen or stops paying the bill the network will block the phone. In fact there is a thread on here I just noticed on google and it shows it’s a grey area and unpaid bill won’t block phone but of reported lost or stolen anywhere in the 2 years it can still be blocked. It says cex has measures if this happens but other companies don’t.

Xs!!
Awks well it was on music magpie and I used the code! I’m on the app so had to search anyway and thought I’d check if they had Xs too
Does Magpie refund if the phone gets blocked first 12 months?

I ordered a pristine S10 (£392) but it's locked on EE so kind of worried

Hence the name excess
Don't trust them, mine was graded very good and it was dented to hell and had half the plastic Antenna line missing. Also I had a bad experience with them selling my iPhone X, they offered £660 at the time and mine had no marks what so ever. When they got the phone it had a massive scratch down the screen and then they said they'll offer £300 something... luckily I took lots of pictures before I sent it. And there was no way it could have gotten scratched in transit, I packaged that thing so well.

I just think they're a scam site and I won't use them again.
Mine was considered "Good" and it was full of scratches, some of them pretty deep. I wouldn't
Recently got a samsung s10e off them, there was only the phone and lead in box and the phone was mint, unfortunately one of the cameras would not focus, so I have returned, that is the third phone now I have had from them and each one had an issue, not sure I would buy another second hand phone, basically someone else,s fault or worn out rubbish. I have gone for a new one this time, might be dearer but it aint been charged several hundred times or dropped down someone bog
An unlocked pristine Samsung S10+ in Ceramic Black with 512GB is £649. I get the feeling that's a pretty good deal for a pristine used phone but feel like a an S10+ will get a better deal soon
