Hot for the JL price match!

But it's still a £700, only just hd ready 4.6" 320 pixel res screen, using 5 year old technology device!

£700 for latest top of the range tech, with 256gb is value
Would rather get an S9 for £39 more tbh

Where from?
Nearly went for the iPhone 8 smartfone store deal the other day but then I compared my 6S with the 8 on apples website and quickly saw the light!

apple.com/uk/iphone/compare/

Really not worth the upgrade in my opinion! same reason why I never went for the 7 when that came out

Up your game Apple (including sensible pricing!)

They'd give you a refund as far as I know but if you're just exchanging for the 256GB one it should be a pretty straightforward process

In fairness it's one of the nicest IPS displays I've ever seen. Resolution isn't everything and there are not many phones with as fast a processor as the A11 nor such a huge amount of internal storage (SD cards aren't the answer for every scenario). Not saying this is a 'bargain' if you're platform-agnostic but it's certainly no slouch and the '170 year old technology' remark probably does it a bit of a disservice - although I'm sure you were joking for the most part.
again fruits...

I am in the exact same situation. I have had a 6S 64GB since release, but anytime I have considered upgrading I haven't really seen any features worth upgrading for. I was going to get an 8 for wireless charging, although I purchased the mophie wireless charging case instead.

Hopefully apple's next iphone's have some must have new features.

The truth is that Apple, in fact any company, charge what they think customers will pay. We've all seen pictures of people queueing to pay silly money fir the latest iPhone that is no different from the last. They'll never drop prices when folk keep doing that.

Decent.

Heat.
Hotter than the hottest house in Hot Street.

I like Android phones, they're dead good and everything, it's a different world with more freedom and whatnot. Apple suit the less techy, who just want a good piece of kit with a really simple, easy to get used to OS.

As soon as people start quoting specs, gigaflops and fecking pixel counts then fine, buy your Android, bathe in your last custom Rom install, level up on World of Warcraft and wonder where the blutac is for your peeling off the wall bedroom fantasy posters...

Well I always bought the latest one but haven’t since 6s and from speaking to friends/colleagues etc it seems many others are in the same boat - I’m sure sales for 7/8 & X have been less than previous models but maybe not. I know many die hard apple fans who’ve given up and went to other manufacturers. I’ll probably get a S9 myself after swearing years ago I’d never go back to android!
Out of Stock. Why is only the gold one though ?

Might waiting for the X to get lower if it ever does...

In the sense that the features of the phone are not impressive enough (to me) to warrant upgrading from the model I currently own

I'll be honest, I don't use apple products, but the iPhone 8 that my daughter uses doesn't seem massively different from the 6S it replaced. I have read that sales are down from previous versions especially with the X. People can vote with their feet, but they don't seem to, at least not very much.

A comment from someone who has no idea.... firstly this 5 year old device still has an SoC that beats the Snapdragon 845.

I think if you were to look at the spec sheet of an S6 compared to an S9 it would probably be a similar story though - incremental CPU improvements etc etc. Can't expect much other than gradual improvements as that's just how tech works.

What though? Tech has reached something of a peak and there isn't really much they can do now to make the experience vastly better. The leap from the iPhone 3G to the iPhone 4 was huge but from that point it's been largely incremental. It's very much the same with Android devices, and if they kept old devices just as up to date as their newer models then there'd be very little reason to upgrade from an older Samsung, LG or whatever to the latest generation.

I still think that aside from the battery life, the Samsung S6 is a great phone with a cracking camera and decent internals - and it's kind of a shame that Samsung don't think it can handle Oreo. Part of me wonders if manufacturers internationally don't bother updating the firmware and look and feel that comes with newer OS updates intentionally, to drive users onto newer devices.

Better operating system tbh. Can do what the hell you want on it. Don't need to keep feeding money to Apple or use iTunes to simply backup some some stuff to your computer.

It's better for some, not for all. iOS has better cross-device services in my opinion - eg SMS forwarding, iMessage, Handoff, Continuity, Airplay, Instant Hotspot and other iCloud services that many people enjoy such as Facetime.

It's also a lot simpler to use for those who just want to get on with their day and use decent quality apps, and you can rely on better software support and updates. There's no reason to use iTunes these days at all. I can't even remember the last time I opened it.

Personally I use a Pixel as my primary phone but I'm familiar enough with iOS to know that for some people it is a better option than Android. Not everyone wants to 'do what the hell they want' with their phone - it's more a case of enjoying apps and services and getting on with your day. Those who want to use different launchers and sideload things, stream movies, download torrents, change their icon packs etc are obviously more suited to Android but it always amuses me when people define one particular platform as universally 'better'.

I’m a software developer and the majority of my colleagues use iOS, so also suits the even more techy of us. For me it’s all about security and support, my entire digital world is stored on it.
