I’ve found it’s useful for things like a Gym Pass, Work ID, driving licence etc. 1 bank card even just in case the iPhone goes on the blink

Agree, I never used to see the point, but now I quite like mine. Has my driving licence, mastercard (as I can't add to Apple Pay, very annoying) and the most important card of all....Costco card.

The Find Me function of gen 2 only tells you where the wallet disconnected from the phone, it has no location ability in the Find Me network afterwords like AirTags do (edited)

£23 for a simple card wallet... the worlds gone mad

I’m not defending this one as such, however, £23 for a simple leather card wallet is actually quite reasonable

Has anyone been to pick this up yet and can confirm if it’s series 1 or 2?

Just picked it up. This is gen 1.

Re the magnets, it is very strong. Not moving off my ESR magsafe case. Happy with the purchase (edited)

This deal couldn’t have popped up at a better time. I have been shopping around for a third party magsafe wallet this past few days and almost dropped £25 on the Spigen one - I couldn’t justify the price of the current Apple offering.
Happy to pay this price even if it is Gen1. If I really don’t like it then I’ll have good grounds for a return given the mis-information on the product description. (edited)

They said they will price match .

when you request a price match make sure you select price match Argos in store not online. and look for a store that has stock and give that address.

I'm with you on the extra bulk, but the majority of the time I don't actually use this wallet - only if I have to take a non-Apple Pay card.

I really don't like carrying a separate wallet around, so on the odd chance I need extra cards (my real card/gym/ID/work card, etc), it's really nice not having to take a separate item - just something that fits fairly securely onto your phone, and has the benefit of the Find My network if you happen to lose it (at least for gen 2), is really nice to have imo. That would likely increase the size of the wallet, to include a battery?

I have this and agree with others, it’s so handy to have my card and driving license in this when I’m heading out.

Ha. IHG was “fun”. It got abused which is why it was withdrawn for lots of folks

My Barclaycard just turned up. I’ve added it to curve and made a payment on it successfully

Haven’t tried it with Apple Pay yet. Suggestion on another site is to make a payment using the actual card and pin in a shop first

Its not to do with it being mastercard, it all depends on the providers and whether theyve signed up to apple pay.

Thanks all for the tips; Argos were happy to return.

@vinnynall1 - must say also cheers for the ESR case recommendation - I ended up getting a slightly different one but I recommend it to anyone here, feels quite solid and the magnet snaps on well.

I just received my JL delivery yesterday - confirm Gen2 case. So a trip to Argos this morning is in order to return the Gen1.

To anyone else above - I just replied to the initial email that JL sent me. Refund was issued in about 10-15mins - honestly I wasn't expecting a response until next week given the holiday weekend, very happy with the process.
I used my credit card (via Apple Pay) and JL's email said that the refund would be issued to my Apple Pay account - I assume this will somehow work its way back onto my credit card?

Reading the very recent reviews all specify it’s gen 1!

Correct- i ordered this when it was £41, went to collect, it was the gen 1 saddle brown. They reordered 4 as they werent sure if the item in their warwhouse may have been incorrect/swapped etc. the additional 4 that arrived were all saddle brown.

Still, a good price for a gen 1 (edited)

I agree, maybe more suited to American market where carrying cash is more common than over here.

Good price, even if its gen 1. Sometimes Amazon sells gen 2 for £39.
    Perfect fit for Mini owners.

What is the difference between the two generations? Is it just the ‘Find My’ feature?

Think gen 2 has stronger magnets
  31. Avatar
I think the colours are different too. My gen 2 isn’t saddle brown, it’s golden brown, black is midnight. Etc etc.

As above, I too keep my bank and CostCo cards in mine. Also my driving licence. So if somewhere doesn’t accept contactless or I need ID I’m never caught short. (edited)
