Thought this was worth a post as you can get hold of a iPhone SE, 32GB (Gold, Rose Gold or Silver) for £139 potentially.

To find this deal please filter by Network = O2 and Contract Length = 12.

Then if you sort by Upfront Cost = Low to High you should see a deal with O2 that is £36 a month and £139 upfront cost.

Just order and cancel the SIMO with O2 under the 14 day cooling off period, the £139 iPhone SE will be yours! Handset is paid for so you only cancel SIM with the network provider which in this case will be O2.

You are getting a phone "sim free" from cpw for £139, and an expensive sim only deal sold to you by cpw, for O2. Your 12 months, are then totally handled by o2, and there is no more dealing with cpw.

One other thing to note, is for each individual to look into their credit score beforehand and to be aware of the "potential" knock to their score.

Similar deals for other phones have been claimed successfully are here and here.

No, but it isn't 9 years old or being throttled

Just spied on and laggy out the box

Are you on an iPhone with a small screen by any chance?!
Is it really throttled though?

My work phone is an iPhone 6S. My personal phone is an SE. I honestly haven’t noticed any difference.

I prefer the SE, I don’t understand why for 10 years everyone was trying to make phones smaller and now they are all getting bigger.

If I want to watch a film or do more general browsing I use my iPad!

Does methods like this still work? I thought CPW clamped down last year?
Are you sure you can do this? I’m not convinced it works the same as buying a refresh deal directly from O2. Great if you can though

I did a very similar Pixel 3 deal for £369 just before Christmas and it worked fine. O2 charged me for one day of the contract but then refunded that when I queried it with them.

Fair enough - awesome deal then
Not 100% sure on this, but there is a vodafone one on 1 month contract £13 + £179 upfront which looks a good deal.

Wow - will give it a try
Surely CPW chase for the mobile also, or as the OP says that's over to O2

To be honest I rang them as I received an email to say that my bill was ready and to log into my O2 account to view it (which I couldn't access as I had never set the SIM up). I'll be honest, it had me worried! So I gave them a call to find out what was going on and they checked my account and said I had nothing to pay and that they would refund the first payment made.

Soo .. how do you know which deal is a SIMO contract from a provider with a phone from CPW? Basically, what’s stopping me from buying an iPhone XS Max in this way?
By the way, I can’t actually find this deal, as it only offers a filter of 24mths in the contract length

Vodafone can be a nightmare with this deal.

Took me a few attempts to cancel as they kept referring me back to CPW who said I can't cancel with them.

O2 are a hell of a lot easier to deal with.

It's the 12 month O2 contracts that are structured like this. When the confirmation email is received it stated "1 x Sim Free with Simo £369,00" for my Pixel 3. This is the same contract.

Worst that can happen is that you can't cancel with O2 and you return it all to Carphone Warehouse sealed. You're not tied into any contract as you have 14 days to cancel. I just wouldn't open the iPhone box until you've confirmed with O2 that you've cancelled though as they could refuse to accept it back.
Saw this myself but didn’t fancy another print on the credit file, great deal though!
Not sure if its me, or maybe they pulled the plug on this, but there is no way to filter 12 month contracts .. its only showing 'any' and 24
Another thread running where someone can`t even cancel a 30 day contract with Vodafone when they tried this trick with CPW.
Whoever he rings to cancel, they tell him he has to phone the other one and they then tell him the same.
This may have worked in the past but I think they`ve wised up to it now.

Common sense the phone is only discounted because of the SIM contract.
Be aware.

This happened to me when I bought a /Nokia from CPW/.
Complete nightmare, ended up taking it back for full refund

I'm using the much applauded redmi 4x! It's getting on a bit but works perfectly and does everything I need. Just read some posts on their new models, but will wait as no logical reason to change yet.

Not really, that hadn't been the case for a good many years
I did similar with o2 over xmas and the fools handled it so badly that im now having to fight with them to get a default off my credit file so id be wary as depending on the agent you speak to them may mack a complete hash of it.

they took the payment, told me to cancel the dd, i questioned this as it was only 8 days away, told me no no its fine cancel it, then default letter, rang up oh sorry we will fix that in 48 hours (this was before xmas) yesterday another default letter and today another promise to sort it out

Fair enough, but I'd prefer a device like the Pixel 3, with minimalist bezels and a small screen.

The iPhone 4 had a glass back and stainless steel sides. This has a glass back. They are similar but all phones are similar these days so it’s not fair to call it a 9 year old design. And for quite a few people it’s their favourite iPhone design ever. Much less slippery to hold than everything that came after it.

The SE is a surprisingly capable phone. I had one for 3 months last year (long story) and it has a good camera, great performance and *mostly* does everything an iPhone XS does. Never once found it slow. And when you put it in your pocket you can’t even tell it’s there. It was great on holiday wearing shorts.

The only downside for me was the screen being small means the keyboard is tiny and a bit of a pain to message on.

Using a Pixel. FASTER than when I opened it, thanks to Android Pie. Doesn't ever lag, first phone to ever not that I've used.

It doesn't spy, there's options to turn off permissions. Oh, and Apple stores iPhone data on Google Servers anyway so there's really no escape.

The design is.. It's kind of the point though. It's an iconic frame and an appealing small size. The internals are not 9 years old Apple only throttled phones when the battery was degraded to make it last longer. As of iOS 12, you can turn the throttling off if your batteries shot and want the performance over duration. Irrespectively iOS 12 is quicker than 11 and an SE is still a VERY capable device. Each to their own.
This is a much 'hotter deal' than that other hot deal of today.

However.....

I got a pristine iPhone Se 16GB locked to EE for £74.99. iOS battery manager even rated it at 96% efficiency. It was so good I even bought a second one for the same price for the other half. It runs like an absolute champ. Why sheeple want to bleed over 3x the money over to John Lewis when a similar phone at Music Magpie's will end up looking the same after a weeks or so of use is beyond me.

Anyway heat purely on the basis you could do a lot worse than this deal.

The se is a capable device, and credit to Apple for updating it this long. But the reason it needs throttling is because Apple puts tiny batteries in it's products

That is absolutely true about their business model. You never really know where your data is going - it could be training their AI, sold on. When they are offering things like unlimited photo storage for free, there has to be an angle.

I dislike Apples new ridiculous prices but at sticking with them until (hopefully) Google-free Android becomes a thing. They lost a court battle recently so it could happen
