26gb data?

It is 2017 forchrissakes.

Why would anyone take a smartphone and cap their data? What else is a smartphone for other than consuming data?

If you don't need data..I have an old Nokia I can sell you.
Edited by: "stevenfeeney" 10th Nov

If u can afford the price of the phone u prob won’t mind paying extra for data- but obviously too expensive!

Essentially 18 quid a month for the plan. It’s not terrible deal...

About £19 per month for the airtime part. Not bad for 26gb if you dont want to go down the cashback route when sending certain bills in that some sites offer.

Original Poster

And free Spotify which is normally £10 a month

Is the extra 26GB on top of unlimited just for tethering?

edit - skip that, All unlimited does not mean All Unlimited.

Just sneezed for no reason

Misleading title but it’s still a very good deal

does the upfront cost go towards the cost of the phone?

after phone cost, its roughly £18 for the tarrif. that's not bad considering the 26gb data

Great deal

fantastic deal, bought one for my wife Chin, my daughter Chang and my son Sun, oh not to mention I also gifted one for my pet fish, Bish. christmas came early! xx thx OP

What an absolute bargain, best deal i've ever seen, got 3.

If idiots keep buying these phones at these prices, you're part of the problem. Prices will never stop and in the next decade we will be paying £2000 for a phone.

Just watch the price history phones. They drop so daddy after just 3 months. Just wait

Cant say ive ever seen iphone prices drop at all till the next one comes out. Android devices drop considerably though so not worth buying them on launch.

Goods point, Android is more likely to drop, but i still stand by what i say; If you buy a phone at launch at this price and even wait outside to buy one, you're an idiot

Why are they idiots?

While I didn't say it... I sort of agree. People just buy it because it says Apple on the front.
I cannot fathom why someone would think it's ok to spend £1000+ on a mobile phone which most of us throw away after a year or two... but of course if it makes em happy... but the terms fool and money do spring to mind when I see these iphone deals. Are they really any better than a £350 android phone ? not really. Wow antutu benchmark says zzzzz so ? I don't use my phone for benchmarks... i use it for .. real world stuff.

I also agree if people decide it is OK to spend £1000+ on phones... pretty soon most manufacturer flagship phones are going to cost this. Of course there will be cheaper ones... but the days of the flagship Samsung being £600 will be long gone..

Didn't vote on the deal, it's cold enough
Edited by: "daskapital" 10th Nov

Heat added (I personally don’t think it’s too bad of a price)

Nadgers, quite liked the deal until I realised it was Vodafone

its pants signal round these parts, never again
Edited by: "defgimp" 10th Nov

Hmmm, £1,444 for a phone. I wonder why this deal has been voted cold...

Why are they idiots?

Because the cost of production vs sale price are largely dependant on who is selling the phone and are widening in terms of profitability each year. I.e. customers get smaller increments of more.

Just dint think you should buy a new phone straight away.

By all means if you very rarely buy a new phone and see a good deal then you do what you please but waiting at least a few months would be better. Its more the repeated buyers each year who preorder these very expensive products each year which is encouraging higher prices.

I have a new s8 plus, but a waited a little while for a better price.

Even more outrageous than the price is that they offer a paltry 64Gb storage for £1000 with no option to expand.

Why are they idiots? We all know apple products cost more. Let them be. Is it not the same principle as someone buying a designer £500 jacket compared to £30 jacket from primark? I’m bored of the ‘Android is cheaper’ so it’s better zzzzz. 🙄

At one point they charged near £500 for 16gb...so 64gb is respectable.

I agree the price is high but then so is the price of every other flagship at launch.

ordered four!

what i dont get is that google and apple are competitors
and so is samsung and apple.
Apple are always bullying companies such as imagination technologies and now a spat with chipmaker qualcomm

yet apple relies on youtube (google owned) and iphones rely on samsung for there iphone displays

Google and Samsung should just say bye-bye to apple - the $900 billion Apple share price would collapse tomorrow and end of apple. we all know apple are only keeping peace with samsung till APPLE decide to end it.

Google and Samsung should deliver a pre-emptive strike. kill off google services to apple, kill off supplies of samsung displays - then google, samsung and android could dominate -

The cost of flash storage has decreased significantly and the amount of memory we use on our phones increased significantly since then and Apple is charging more for the X than any other flagship by a country mile. The Galaxy s8 can regularly be had for £540 and comes with expandable SD memory. That’s less than half the price of the iPhone X 256GB at £1150. The profit margins are insane and U.K. consumers ripped off the most by the direct pound to dollar conversion. And this is from an iPhone user.

Its not really diffucult to fathom though is it? A £5k car will take you to the same destination a £50k car will..a £1k designer label will clothe you the same as a £100 Next suit...a £50 watch will tell you the same time as the £5000 watch...its all a matter of choice so why label people as idiots? If you choose to spend £300 on an android phone then thats your choice...others may choose to buy a £70 android phone and think £300 is idiotic.

We are allowed to buy what we want with the money we earn. This deal is decent for a phone worth 1k and then around £18-£19 per month for 26gb data plus unlimited mins and texts...the deal certainly isnt cold.

The £600 flagship Samsung days are already gone. The S8 was £700 on release and even last years S7 Edge was around £650 which i believe was priced higher than the iphone that year.

1) Didn't call anyone an idiot
2) Said exactly what you said regarding what people choose to buy
3) worth 1k ??? no. not even close.

Buy what you like, i don't care. I do care though when everyone buys and greedy manufacturers push up the price for everyone since they will all think they can get £1k for their flagship phone.

Do please tell why a phone that costs < $370 to make should retail for £1000+ ?

Would then be considered anti-trust just like with Microsoft...

What a fantastic deal, ordered 7 of these, this could be deal of the year, marginally beating the £45 Xbox One S.

I agree the prices are high and should not retail at £1k+ but thats the world we live in because people will pay that and the likes of Apple, Samsung and now even Google have cottoned on to that.

There was a time when only Apple customers paid £4-500 for phones and android users used to chuckle because they paid £2-300. I paid £250 for a Nexus and it sold out within minutes on Googles website. Now android users pay £6-700+ easily on their latest Samsungs and Pixels.

Prices will keep rising because people wont stop buying even at such high prices...iPhone X is currently unavailable anywhere for immediate purchase..Google Pixel 2 is unavailable in certain colours as is the XL version which is not even out yet.

Cant really compare sub £300 phones with flagships because the flagships are much better.

OnePlus was the company that was meant to change the game and force other companies to reduce prices..but even they hiked the price of the OnePlus5.

S8 was £700 at launch and is only £540 now after 6 months. Android phones depreciate badly but iphones do not. I cant get much for my S7 Edge if i sold it, maybe £300 if lucky.. but my wife can easily get £600 for her iPhone 7 Plus a year after release.
