Apple are now doing a free screen replacement program for the iPhone X I personally haven’t come across this problem but you may have

Community Updates
Apple has determined that some iPhone X displays may experience touch issues due to a component that might fail on the display module. An affected device may exhibit the following:

  • The display, or part of the display, does not respond or responds intermittently to touch
  • The display reacts even though it was not touched

Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will replace the display module on eligible devices, free of charge.

No other iPhone models are part of this program.

Service processChoose one of the options below to have your iPhone X serviced. Your iPhone will be examined prior to any service to verify that it is eligible for this program.

Before service, backup your iPhone to iTunes or iCloud. Learn more about preparing your iPhone for service.

If your iPhone X has any damage which impairs the ability to complete the repair, such as a cracked screen, that issue will need to be resolved prior to the service. In some cases, there may be a cost associated with the additional repair.

Additional InformationApple may restrict or limit repair to the original country or region of purchase. For iPhone X devices purchased in EEA member countries, service is available in other EEA member countries.

This Apple program doesn't extend the standard warranty coverage of the iPhone X.

If you believe your iPhone X was affected by this issue, and you paid to replace your display module, you can contact Apple about a refund.

The program covers affected iPhone X devices for 3 years after the first retail sale of the unit.

Wish they were doing it for 7plus as I have a crack down my screen

Stick some black masking tape over the home button try and create a notch at the top you might get away with it
I did actually have this issue and now I’m embroiled in a court battle with Carphone Warehouse as they said they couldn’t replicate it, I told them the touchscreen is faulty or intermittently unresponsive. I believe this is exactly what I need to prove that I didn’t just make this fault up back in March.
Love how they wait until they stop selling the phone until they admit it has an issue so they don’t affect sales

So if you took in an iPhone X with light scratches on the screen, would you potentially get a nice new screen?

Pretty much, the issue is intermittent so Apple will just swap it out even if you can’t replicate it!

I wouldn't be too sure. When iPhone 5 had battery issues, which affect the wife's phone, the Apple store simply claimed it was an app that was causing issues and refused to fix. After 3rd appointment they agreed, so my experience with Apple can be mean spirited about fixes.
Wonder when they will do for iPad air 2

All you need to do is watch a guy on youtube called Louis Rossman. He fixes Apple products that Apple refuse to fix. Some of the stories are unbelievable.
Do they replace just the screen or swap the phone for their refurb/new ones

You joke, but I did have a cracked screen once and took it in because the front camera was misaligned. The replaces the screen to fix the issue at no cost

Apple have two type of new phones - Brand new and new refurb (unused, but parts made from recycled / refurbished components).
Apple replacement new phones under warranty are 'new phones' and not brand new phones

Tap on Settings > General > About and scroll down to the Model section. This setting will show you the nine-digit model number that you can use to determine the origin of your iPhone.

iPhone Model Number
If the model number of the iPhone starts with the letter ‘M,’ then it is a NEW iPhone. If on the other hand, the model number starts with letter ‘F,’ it’s a carrier-refurbished model and when it starts with the letter ‘N,’ it indicates that it is an Apple Replacement device.

Thanks but I’m fully aware of what happens. Hence y I put it the way I did
Thanks. My volume has been appearing on it own, and the touch is temperamental. I thought it was a ghost
I've cracked the back of my iPhone X , does that count?
This happened to my iPhone X a few months ago. I managed to record random swipes with another phone for proof. The diagnostics showed no problems. They sent the screen off to be swapped over, it took about a week
Apple are crap! Overpriced pieces of....... If I was given one, I wouldn't even open the box..... Awful products......

I went in with my iPhone X today as the camera was damaged as they had previously given me a faulty phone (thanks to apple). I was told that I had to wait 5 hours literally for the screen to be fixed. Terrible customer service from apple these days.
