So much anger at groups getting discounts!

My wife works in the NHS. She doesn't get paid nearly enough for what she does. If she worked her job in the private sector she's get better money, less hours, less pressure. The NHS don't even pay mileage properly. My wife has to invariably top up our car with fuel to make home visits to patients and her Trust sees to it so they never pay it back properly.

So yes, little perks like NHS discounts help people like my wife who choose to earn less by working for the NHS, caring for the UK population.

This while she nearly every day hears from her patients "ooh love, you're not bad for a darkie".

Cold for me it’s too expensive and the discount should be for everyone

Why should everyone get a discount?

Anyone who can get a discount is a good thing in my opinion, I have no idea why people need to be resentful .

Discounts is what hukd is all about.

Just to add... if you have a .gov.uk email address you can still get the discount, so local government, councils etc

What’s the contract price per month with this 70gb data?

Think you get 20% on EE. Just unsure if it stretches to the iphone and the greed of Apple.

It’s a good discount, but their tariffs and up front costs are disgusting

The cheapest way to get this is the Phone Purchase Plan (not upgrade plan) and a SIMO

Why should certain groups get discounts?

Why should students get a discount but not everyone else? Does the poor student excuse for discounts go up in flames when its for a £1000 idiotphone?

Something new since I left then. You don't need a Blue card for voda, I think you just take a wage slip in.

Voda are giving free AirPods away with the first 1000 contracts

Yes looks like this is also true, if you register on their website and preorder, the first 1000 will also get free AirPods as well! (doesnt look like they will come with the phone so are redeemable after cooling off period (30 days).

When in some stores they reduce price for items , people don't say anything. But if some people benefit from something then they get jealous.

Just had a look at these offers, and I can get 20% off with EE too.

But again, their prices are horrendous to start with, even after the discount they’re still stupid money

Thanks

So how does the discount work for council employees? Do I need to register with my gov.uk email address?

Where is there mention to the Free Airpods for the First 1000 Customers? Can't find it anywhere listed?

Three discount?

Because students can be easily manipulated into buying things? And certain groups (those being emergency services, military etc) deserve to be treated better than the average joe because at the end of the day they work countless hours and risk their lives to help and protect others. Why should everyone get a discount? Why would any business decide a discount should be for everyone unless it is a promotion?

i have been getting this deal for the last 3/4 years and works out a bargain especially when including the spotify package as well. you can get 30% on phones if you or know someone who works in Barclays as well. the VEA (discount) is also for most corporations - big 4, most banks etc.

Voda also give 15% to customers whose employers who are on their lists. They rarely advertise this on new contracts but their retentions team use it to prevent offering more.

You forgot to mention the defined benefit pension My wife also works for the NHS and whilst she could make more in the private sector, the conditions and in particular the defined benefit pension offset this. To put this into context I earn several times whats my wife earns and yet if I put the same proportion of my salary into a pension I would receive no where near what she will at retirement!

Further, there are just as many bone idle, lazy assholes in the NHS as any other large company. She wishes more scrutiny was applied as not only does she find much of what goes on disgusting, its pushing out the genuine hard working staff who are fed up with disproportionate distribution of workload and rewards. It IS NOT a meritocracy because of producer capture and management (many of whom are clinical, so the exalted Doctors and Nurses) who feel theres no chance of failure and bankruptcy like a normal business.

Vodafone direct on phone offered, £62 a month with £100 upfront with 50gb data and airpod.. I usually need approx that much data due to site jobs ..

Can tell from your spelling you’ve not stepped foot in a university...

They give students discounts, and not you, because they are a small section of the population who might not have access to the same funds right now but will be earning - on average - a lot higher than those not in further education. It’s a business move, not charity but you keep being peed off pal

Is the 15 / 20% off the monthly cost or the upfront cost or both?

Also do emergency services get 15 / 20% off everything in Voda / EE if so will get my air pods there.

Spoke to Apple about emergency services discount and no discount on IPhone X and no discount on Airpods and no discount on Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular but £7 off of Apple Watch 3 non cellular. Lol.

Your wife should be refusing to her employer to tend to anyone who gave/gives her a racial abuse comment, or any patient her NHS (cough) Trust refuse to fully reimburse her for, if you think it’s bad in public service try private where many people get taxed on refunds and are made to wait till the end of the tax year for reimbursement (that may mess up tax credits being cut the following year and overpaid next year then underpaid the following year for those with reliance on Tax Credits).

I dont agree public public service staff should get discounts exclusive to them - who are paid well above minimum wage, and I am ex public service staff (was surrounded by people who couldn’t apply basic common sense who made work stressful)
