voted hot, but 220.00 for an extra 2gb ram !!! oO

Just paid £479.00 at Simply Electronics which I was happy with having saved £50. £446.82 is an excellent deal. Heat added!

I would love to know why someone has voted it cold. Perhaps they could point us to the retailer that is selling it cheaper!

Crucial do an 8GB upgrade for this Mac for less than £40.

Got it myself the other day. Awesome upgrade!

Good deal for a Apple. For what it is, this wouldn't be a bad deal if it was PC value.

Apple haters

Apple haters? What's there to hate? As long as people can buy those over-priced gadgets, we know our economy is still in good shape.

Great price!

Try google and believe that most the postive stuff is written by guerilla marketing people working for Simply electronics. See hotukdeals thread too . Just emailed a cancellation and ordered from Amazon. I will just have to wait and see if they respond to my request!

"Processor Speed: 2.3 MHz "

2.3Mhz?! Are we back in 1993 or something? In all seriousness, this appears to be a good deal. Heat added.

this isn't too bad of a price

When the hell did 'bad' become a quantity rather than a quality?

Heat added - tempting price - no , must resist.:)

so dont buy the ram prefitted. order some compatible from kingston/crucial/etc and save a ton. its just a matter of unscrewing the base and clicking it in place!

awesome price as its from amazon too! excellent returns service! i bought one from ebay for £449.99 a few days ago, gutted i missed getting from amazon though

for those interested, you can buy an 8gb ram kit for this which is only £37.00!!!!!!!!

you install by simply unclipping the ram cover underneath the mac mini, remove the old ram and insert this ram, done in two minutes!

I'm not generally an apple person - like their stuff but overpriced usually - but i thought the steve jobs autobiography was absolutely fascinating. gives you an v.good insight into why they design/price their products in the way that they do.

Amazon now on back order (2+weeks) just missed out on one but hey ho.

Good one

Any places for low priced apple wireless mouse and keyboard to go with it????

I recently upgraded from a 1.8ghz Core 2 Duo mini, and was shocked that the performance was almost identical. 2gb of RAM seems to be woefully inadequate for Lion. Shame that you can't downgrade to a version of OS X that still performed well. An 8GB upgrade is in order, but it's surprising Apple would let a product out with such a poor user experience. I know I'm going to get a lot of examples from Apple haters, but oh well.

Google for MrMemory and get your RAM from there. Cheap and great delivery. Upgraded my iMac to 16gb for less than £100. A shaving off the £480 Apple wanted!

what are you going to do with 16gb of ram?!

Voted hot as this is £49.98 cheaper than Apple's educational pricing.

Personally, I would get the next model up with the Radeon HD 6630M discrete graphics card. Not only is it substantially faster than Intel's HD 3000 graphics, but if you are planning on using Final Cut Pro X, you will find the Intel HD 3000 isn't supported...

Best bet is Gumtree. For official suppliers, Jigsaw24 tends to sell off the OEM keyboards and mice it has with iMacs. Other Mac suppliers do the same.

E.g.

Wireless keyboard

Magic Mouse although probably OOS for the moment.

All of the big OEMs do this (Dell, HP etc.), so Apple isn't doing anything different.

Good price for those who missed out on best buy's £399 deal

Best Buy were selling this for £399?!?!

I got one of these recently for around the same price, great little unit (and no , I'm not an apple fanboy, I've been building gaming rigs since I was 16, that doesn't mean I can't appreciate different products. I bought 8GB from Crucial, takes a few minutes to install, doesn't void the warranty and costs under £40 (plus you can sell your old RAM after). My Crucial M4 128GB SSD arrived for it yesterday, need my friend to loan me his torx screwdrivers so I can fit it though

Cheapest way to get a Mac!

Can you get this better model for a similarly good price?

Voted hot as it's a good price for this item, but £446 for one 500 gig HD and 2 gig of RAM seems pretty poor value for money.

It's a fast machine but much more noisy than the previous model, be warned

You can, create a separate volume, install SL to that and boot from it every time.

Interesting, mine has 8Gb and is 40cm from my head and the fan never runs ie its completely silent.

Download Plex onto this and it'll make a good HTPC setup for beginners.

So it's "pretty poor value for money" yet you think it's a hot deal? Absurd.

I'd love to agree with you, but sadly.. I can't. £440 on a laptop, it would be loads better. Although not comparable, better yet for a desktop PC. That's including getting a 22"+ Monitor.

Is there anything comparable to Plex for PC's running Windows 7 (without having to resort to Linnux based ones) ? Media Centre is crap.

Edit: Just came across Boxee. Looks interesting.

I am using a netbook that uses Ubuntu! with no CD-rom drive, I was able to put windows on, Windows died on it, Apple has a **** policy of "you can only use our software and no-one elses" please make us rich! And ubuntu is love for all! I prefer the newest ubuntu on my netbook rather than having to buy a new computer for every new apple/windows release! My netbook will easily be working for the next 5 years, whereas some will be changing computers like underwear :P :{. voted cold! so what steve jobs died, I am still not supporting his company!
