slightly cheaper than the education store but without the 3 year warranty
Has anyone had any experience with this company before...?
They also have the mid range Mac mini which I think is worth the extra for it's quad core CPU: pixmania.co.uk/uk/…tml

If you like sleek Apple products, go fot it. But you can build a better spec for about £300.00- give or take...

I can't seem to get 3 years on education store , there's 3 year aftercare for extra £36 but on a separate contract for teachers and you need proof no?

Are you proposing to run HacIntosh on your home build then ?

the extra £36 is for technical phone support for the 3 years, you'll get a 3 year warranty as standard with all educational purchases

i've read that they hardly ever check up and ask for proof

Really! That's sound brilliant..
in event of making a claim do you think I would be ok and if I sell my mini can I transfer warranty over to new owner?

I didnt even know we got the 3 year applecare warrenty on the edustore - it never told me when I bought my rMBP in October, but about a week after the laptop arrived, a letter came with my Applecare policy.

They dont publicly tell you.

Oh and I left university 3 years ago - I just bookmarked the Edustore link - still works and have used Applecare since October (Dropped the laptop!!) and had no questions asked at all.

The Always Up-to-Date Guide to Building a Hackintosh

Word of warning - dont expect it to be reliable. I've done a few, and even if you get the perfect match with hardware, you'll still get the occasional kernel panic.

Its ok for a home/gaming machine, but dont trust it for work.

Yes they are probably one of the worst on the internet.
Ditto. No heat here due to Pixmania. Use ED if you can or just get one off Amazon.co.uk, which seems to be the next cheapest, often dipping below £450 delivered.

Any suggestions smart (pc) boy?
Pixmania. Aren't they dodgy?
This would be hot if it wasn't Pixmania.

Several years ago I bought an iMac form Pixmania which arrived with a DOA hard disc. I contacted Pixmania and they wanted me to return the item to France!

Luckily I had the sense to speak to Apple who upon hearing the name Pixmania immediately arranged collection and replacement of the faulty item within a few days.

Pixmania are appalling believe the stories they are true!

Guess where I buy my equipment from now!

Well I'm quite happy to be a duncy mac user personally. Market Research shows that Mac business users earn 4-5 times what their PC counterparts earn and in all honesty my use of Macs have pretty much paid my mortgage! Not so expensive when you consider that eh?

Some people on the other hand are quite happy to live in a trailer
I just got the mac mini quad core i7 2012 for 679 but hopefully with trade in i will get 250 back from my old mac laptop!! Quad core seem so much better value. I have it connected to my projector which produces 10 foot in length / 120 inches diagonal picture with awesome clarity (through thunderbolt) and another 19 inch monitor through the HDMI/DV-I port. I can watch movies on the big screen(keeps the girlfriend happy) and surf hotukdeals on the other

Mac mins are awesome value Just sold my previous 2011 model to a friend for £350 so they do keep there value somewhat. So i guess this new one cost me £79 pound

Where did I trade in?
PC world were doing the apple laptop trade in on any macs but it ended on the 24th December 2012.

It has to be working, 6 years or less in age. It must be able to be powered for 10 minutes once they test it. How much you get back is also dependant on condition. I have a few plastic cracks on mine so will wait for value but should at least get £200
