ahh right! Whats the diff? im not a macbook guy....yet...

Macbook Pro's are a lot higher spec than standard Macbooks.

Cheaper on Amazon:
amazon.co.uk/App…8-1

In fact the MBP on Amazon is only a little more than this price.

You could get a better spec, but it wouldn't be a Mac.

true, but an XPS 13 for example, is also £799 with similar build quality - but has a 210M which wipes the floor with the 9400M, and also comes with 4GB DDR3 memory and a 320gb 7,200rpm hard drive.

Good price for a Mac.

I'm guessing it'd only be PC users who vote this cold

True, but it's LCD isn't LED backlit like the MacBooks (that costs another £90) and the battery life isn't as good.

Comparing Mac and Windows laptops isn't always as simple as just looking at hardware specs.

XPSs do not have similar build quality to a Macbook Pro. They aren't as easy/joyful/hassle-free to work on.

Personally, the closest comparison is a high-end Sony laptop. But value means different things to different people.

As with all macs.

Wait until after they refresh the models and go to the refurb store and buy the previous model, it's usually about 20-40% off!

I prefer these to the pro range imo these are built better

I like Macbooks as much as the next guy but these aren't built 'better' than a Macbook Pro.

Bulging batteries and troublesome lcds just some of the problems you encounter with the pro range believe me

I haven't encountered that. I just think they're a much nicer bit of kit - no fan kicking in when you're watching videos, no scratches on the lid....

Bulging batteries

That was some time ago now, and affected the macbook too.

I got this for £699 from PC World and Dixons & Currys had it at the same price
