The new MacBook from Apple is the lightest and most compact Mac notebook yet. It weighs less than a kilogram. It's just 13.1mm thin. And yet it still manages to pack in big technology. Combining new technology, including an Intel Core M processor, Force Touch trackpad and a versatile USB-C port, with features like the stunning Retina display, ultrafast Wi-Fi and an all-day battery life, the new MacBook redefines the notebook.

Good saving. Unfortunately people will vote on the fact its apple and that this model is hidding extras costs. Like the separate adaptor you need to have power and a usb port simultaneously. And the fact that apple will just add anothe usb-c port on the next design with minimum retooling to the body design.
I'm not a fan of Apple but heat added as it's a saving
As a deal it is hot. As a product, way too impractical. Have used macs for a while though I wont upgrade to this.
Can get it for 899 or cheaper on eBay all the time
hot, apple make the best laptop/desktops
Great price, keyboard is amazing on this.

Has 8GB ram too, hot deal.
You have to REALLY value the few mm you save vs the extra power for the same price you'd get with an Air. Depends if you prefer screen vs performance and versatility.

They may consider lack of ports, small screen, small drive compared to other laptops. Not even an ethernet port. Yes it's thin and light, but some people haven't used such a small screen for 10 years. Years ago the standard was over 15". Some people do not want to go back to the 20th century, particulary as they age! Some are used to 15.6" - 17.1" screens. I doubt Apple will produce a laptop this size at a price less than £3k

If it's from JL, you can bet its cheaper elsewhere as JL is often undersold.

Used one from HK
This is new one and UK model
I got one from JL on Black Friday for £949 to replace an old 11" MacBook Air. Very pleased with it so far and today this seems like the best price so hot from me!

Agreed, they are over priced but if you wanted something with bigger screens, more ports, then get a different range.

It's called variety my friend and, whinge as we all may, Macs are more desirable than PCs, yet they keep making lighter, tiny screened, underspec'd and over priced laptops that we can't get enough of: latest (and previous YoY) increase in Mac sales.

The irony in reading your common sense comment punctuates that perhaps Jobs was right in saying "Customers don't know what they want".

No, I don't own a Mac, but I like the way Apple challenges competitors to be better.
Don't rate this over the Air, underpowered...but a deal nonetheless.

For some one with a username of Common Sense, you don't have very much.
I for one certainly wouldn't want to cart a 15+" laptop about if I wanted small and light. The fact screen sizes were available 10 years ago doesn't change the availability now. By your logic we could probably have 80" screen laptops as the screen sizes are now available.

I know what I want and I use 17" laptops, and not desktops. I do not own a Mac and looking at the spec/price, I do not think I would ever buy one. I could not even connect direct to a router, I could not even connect multiple external drives. I have 2 drives in my 17" laptop.

Insults, show a lack of intelligence!
I did not say I want small and light. If you want a small screen great. Not everyone wants a small screen.
Do not take comments personally!

I am glad you are satisfied with your 17" laptop [that has not taken any design cues from Apple] with 2 drives and can physically connect to a router.

I see little point in debating with you as common sense always prevails.

Maybe not so literally in this case...
.... If Apple is your thing, this is a deal, if Apple isn't your thing, comment on the deal..... or pass. Heat from me!

Still very happy with it. Love the portability and long battery life. Screen is also excellent as is the silent running since no fans. Should hopefully last me a few years
