Is there really any difference these days between a mac book and a PC laptop, other than the OS?

Not voting, or bashing, just wondered as they seem underspecced compared to an equivalent ACER, etc.

Having never owned a Mac, I'm probably not the best person to comment, but from what Mac users say, they very rarely crash, are much more intuitive to use, and many would never go back to a Windows based PC.

They handle different softwares etc. And this is very light. Im more a PC man myself though, also Macs hold there value very well.

My brother used PC for years till he tried his first Mac and never went back, he thinks there amazing. So very true statement

That price is EX VAT

Actually £862.49

Just my opinion but I used to use Windows based PC's for years. Then I bought a mac mini now I also have an iBook G4. I have found the build quality, the operating system and the fact they just work so refreshing from having to struggle with a Windows based machine. As an aside they also hold there value very well!!

The "Under speccing" is nonsense they just work differently.

£862 inc VAT,price posted is via business site without VAT!!!

I'd say its better to pay a bit more and get a mac book pro. The Air is only good if you want a classy looking laptop to use on the train only advantage is the thickness or lack of :). Macs are expensive so when you do decide to buy one you need to make sure its the right one.

Edit price is with out VAT and most definately cold especially as it was previously injured.

Still very cheap as its the SSD model, will get voted cold no doubt, but those that know, know

7% quidco too

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong here but a MUCH better macbook available in Costco and cheaper than this.

(not an air I agree but better I think)

Yup, honestly my iMac has crashed just once in a year, and I use it everyday for up to 14 hours. To be fair I did have around 30 Fireworks images open at the time, LOL

I couldn't get viking to accept a credit card for payment (nothing wrong with the card), If you speak to them they transfer you to Romania where you are asked for your bank details - very Fonejacker.
They go on to say that they won't accept credit cards for this type of order - its all very bizarre & the customer service in trying to sort this out has been appalling - I was receiving telephone calls 3 times a day asking for my bank details.

I bought one without any problems and my Quidco tracked almost instantly so I've no complaints with their service having used my credit card to order from them. Given that delivery is free, I received my order within one working day and I haven't had a single problem with this system.

davelfc, I'd say the macbook you've seen isn't a bad option but for someone looking for a portable system, this is smaller, lighter and on this model there is an SSD which is something you won't find on the macbook given the the cheapest you can get one of these drives for is about half the price of that system!

Yes, about £500 extra! I presume people considering a Macbook Air realise that the battery is NOT user replaceable too... a machine strictly for fashion victims

That bad hey... I got a macbook pro and I go back to it all the time.

I have a Mac and a PC. Both are fine, but a lot of the flak PCs take is because of Windows. IMO:

Linux is best for 80% of stuff.
OSX is best for 15% of stuff.
XP is best for 4.9% of stuff.
Vista is best for 0.1% of stuff.

1. Can I run WinXP on Mac Book AIR?
2. Can I play divx movies on my 1080p TV? (how to connect)
3. Can I use MAC AIR for wardriving?

THX.

Listen you **** take your PC head out of your **** because the credit control part is in Romania - Viking acknowledge this - whats bigoted about that? What a ****.

I asure you it was all very real as I used to work for Viking there. As a security measure you could only make a payment by cheque or bacs as you ordered this kind of item that we call "high risk item", it`s the company policy. Did u get it eventually?

Please do not post avoiding the word filter and insulting other users, as both will lead to a suspension if you receive further infraction points.

The basic difference is build quality, weight, etc, i got my first macbook aluminium last week after years of using dells and its a joy to use, really light and really long battery life. You pay for what you get basically, while macs look dear on the surface, they are worth the money.

Is it just me or is 60GB for a hard drive inadequate these days.
I'd fill that up in a few months.
