This will no doubt cause an argument as usual....

New MacBook Air laptops were released today, so the stock of the previous one is listed in the 'Refurbished' section of the Apple store. A pretty decent saving if you're after one of these brand new.

13.3" MacBook Air that was £849 yesterday is now down to £629.
11.6" Macbook Air that was £749 yesterday is now down to £579.

Spec:
Originally released April 2014
13.3-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen display with support for millions of colors
1.4Ghz Dual Core i5

4GB of 1600MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory

128GB PCIe-based flash storage
1
720p FaceTime HD Camera

Intel HD Graphics 5000

I can get a Dell at half the price for twice the spec yada yada yada...

What on earth were Apple thinking with the new Macbook? Buy this superior model and save yourself £400.

Shame about the screen res

I'm not an Apple fan - but this does seem to be a good deal.

I'm on the look out for a new laptop and keep getting drawn to these - but I'd like to see a similar spec'd laptop for less

Heck of a good price, but retina is brilliant too!

So are these defo brand new, How do we know? It doesn't say they are.

That is a great price. Bought mine from the refurb store in August for a cost of £719. Had a 15" MBP before and hardly ever used it due to the weight and battery life. Use this AIR all the time.

Well worth it at this price

No. They are refurbs. Generally though they appear brand new and have the same warranty as new Apple products.

The current Air does not have an IPS screen and the resolution is poor although it will be one of the better panels. Better to keep that in mind as I can buy a couple of decent laptops (of similar spec) for that amount of cash.

They weren't in stock in the Refurb store until the new models were released today.

Apple refurbs are indistinguishable from new anyway. Not a single mark anywhere, full box and accessories and a 1 year warranty that can be extended with Apple Care.

Good deal if you've been looking for one!

Good price for a terrible screen.

Can you read? They are Refurb! Which means they come in white box.

MacBooks are great. Had my retro white one for many years and had no problems with it.
Not like some cheap PCs out there.

All sold out, scorching hot deal anyway.

Does Apple still do free interest on these?

No

12 inch MBA is out. with RETINA screen

Thats a real nice laptop but It don't matter I got a dell

On board memory, you cannot extend the RAM.

Good price, especially for the spec (Intel i5 CPU, 128GB SSD drive, 10 hour battery life etc - you pay far more for other brands with the same spec) I'm in the market for a lightweight laptop so have been keeping an eye on these. They seem to go in and out of stock quite quickly.

2.1% TCB too.

Just to point out that the macbook announced today is not an Air, its a new product line thats sits between the Air and the Macbook pro.

It's a Macbook, not a MacbookAir. Don't confuse people.

The OP is misleading.

A brand new MBA 13 was £849 yesterday, and still is. The MBA 13 in the OP is a refurb, not new.

Who cares? With 1 USB port. We want cheap AIR!

you can't.

It's lighter than the air, by quite a margin. The MBA will be a gonna soon.

New refurbished MacBook Airs back in stock, just bought the 13.3"

intranix

you can't.

I can, or I could.

I bought a refurbished Dell from the outlet with similar specs for £350 last year.

I am not saying the Dell is as well built (which it isn't) or as polished as this, but the Apple is not worth double or almost double IMO.

I'm far from an Apple lover, but you can't compare a Macbook to a cheap Dell Inspiron! Start looking at moderately specced Windows Ultrabooks and you will find Macs aren't that overpriced.

As for the new one, if you're going to remove basic functionality ports on a £1k+ laptop, at least include the adaptors in the box for crying out loud.

Back in stock this morning.

Just looking at the dell outlet a scratch and dent XPS 13 9333 i5-4210u 8GB 128SSD is going for £622 and £701 std outlet condition.

MODS: Please unexpire as these are back in stock and are likely to be in stock for a while as they clear the previous model. The Apple refurb site went offline last night (it said nothing was in stock), but now it's back working.

I take your point, but this happens everytime new Macs come out - all the stock of the previous model are sold off through the refurb store (Which is actually labelled on the site as 'Refurbished and Clearance'). They come in a plain white box but they're brand new and not even customer returns like traditional 'refurb' products. This is a big price drop on this model compared to a couple of days ago.

why would I want couple of laptops if I want one MacBook?

To be honest it's quite difficult to know if that's strictly the truth. Where are all the 2014 i7 airs? They haven't appeared at all since the upgrade.

On previous similar occasions people have reported receiving i7 models when they bought the i5 or receiving 8GB instead of 4GB.

Yeah, you're right. We don't KNOW for certain, but it makes logical sense, and previous instances suggest this is the case.
