Featuring a thin and lightweight design, the mid 2017 Apple 13.3" MacBook Air features a unibody aluminum enclosure that weighs less than 3 pounds. At its thickest point, the computer is only 0.68" -- it tapers down to 0.11" at its thinnest.

At 13.3" in size, the 16:10 display features a screen resolution of 1440 x 900. It features a glossy finish and LED backlight technology for enhanced image quality and energy efficiency.

The system is loaded with 128GB of flash storage rather than an old-fashioned hard drive. Flash storage doesn't just give you a lighter, thinner computer. It also allows for impressive battery life -- up to 12 hours of web browsing and 30 days of standby time.

The computer is powered by a 1.8 GHz Intel Core i5 dual-core processor and has 8GB of 1600 MHz LPDDR3 RAM. Graphics are provided by integrated Intel HD Graphics 6000. The computer features all the amenities you expect on a Mac -- a 720p FaceTime HD webcam, dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi (also compatible with 802.11a/b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0, and built-in stereo speakers. macOS Sierra is the installed operating system.

Everyine please ignore Nicolas.

I don't get if it's me or HUK recently seems to be full of negative and bizarre individuals. I only posted this to help others on here as I have benefited from others who have posted deals.
Just to clarify
I don't own the Hong Kong website
I am not related to the HK seller
I have never been to HK
I am not chinese
I don't own apple
I am not related to who ever owns Apple
I don't design or was involved in Apple laptops
I don't have shared in Apple
I am not even a techy
I am simply an everyday man that wants a product that works for few years not a product that goes slow after few updates and is full of bloat ware
I don't care about what hardware, as Far as I am concerned Apple can put a Diesel car engine in the laptop as long as it works i don't care
This is not a review of Apple laptops
This is not even a review of the Apple pricing
This is simply a deal on what other prices u can find this same product
I don't care if they r giving HP laptops for free with every Burger King u buy, this is about this laptop.
Now unless u can provide a similar price or better then jog on as this is not related to Microsoft or dell or HP or any other product.
You don't like Apple I get it, you even have a canvas on top of your toilet saying u don't like Apple, you even go to bed at night dying cause u don't like Apple and u think it's inferior hardware I promise u I get it, but this is not a review website or an opportunity for u to vent some frustration. It's simply a deal for this who want an Apple product and do appreciate it and want it cheaper. You don't want to buy it just move on, swipe left go watch a movie or go for a run

If u can find it anywhere else same price then let me know but normal price is 949

These look really dated in today's ultrabook standards. Large screen bezel and low resolution.

You can get something like a zenbook for less money which has a bigger 14 inch full HD screen but is the same size and weight.

£700 for close to a 720p 13.3" screen. Fitted with a two generation old, underpowered i5 and onboard graphics. Buying from a Hong Kong reseller which will not doubt get you stung with another £100-200 of import duties and give you no warranty if you have any issues.

If it didn't have an Apple logo on it you'd of broken the frozen record on HUKD. People voting hot on this are probably the type who give Apple plaudits for implementing features on the iPhone that Androids have had for years.

Company based in Hong Kong. Probably extra fees/ duty involved.

As above poster has already suggested I’d be wary before ordering from this company because of import duties etc

I read that they import to U.K. then ship from U.K. based office so no duty/fees?
Still not having my money though

Original Poster

Thanks guys, do we know for a fact they are based outside the UK?
But even if worst case scenarios of adding duty it's still just over 800 which is 150 quid cheaper than normal price ?

Yeah there is a thread about this company on this website from 2016 and all the feedback does appear they ship from Hong Kong

Original Poster

I have checked and the reviews don't suggest any import tax etc

Original Poster

"They dispatch it to a UK warehouse, then that warehouse ships it to you.
Their terms & conditions state that they handle any customs and that the price you pay is final (no extra costs)
I bought a Sony Xperia XZs from there last week, it arrived in 6 days and said it was posted from Lancashire.. even though it originally came from HK.

Edit: Here ya go: 1.9. Import TaxBy purchasing a product through our site, customers outside Hong Kong authorise TobyDeals to make arrangements of clearance of customs on their behalf for the products they have ordered. Our prices on our site are final and there won’t be any additional fees to pay when the product arrives."

Not full HD? Cold.

Low res, no touch screen.

Ive dealt with this company before non existent customer service if you have a problem and would avoid due to that

Where did you get this nonsense from? I have yet to encounter any viruses in any of my windows 10 machines and I haven't installed any 3rd party virus scanner. Also there is nothing more inherently secure about OSX, it can get a virus just like Windows can - this is all just marketing talk to get you to buy a Mac.

I'm not reviewing it either, I'm comparing it against other laptops in the same price range and even at this price it's still not a good deal IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I like Apple products, I used to have an iMac and had a few iPhones but their MacBook Air line hasn't had a proper refresh in almost a decade.

heat added its a great price if you want to get into the apple eco system this will get all the major software releases for years to come its whether you want to or not i have the 2015 mac pro retina and wouldn't go back to windows 10 laptops for personal use.

unfortunately i have to use them for business purposes and always find them frustrating compared to my apple laptop but everyone is different.

I found my windows 10 slow. I have an Asus laptop and when I even open a doc the word doc cursor goes into times for 20 seconds before the doc is opened
This shouldn't be happening in 2017

MacBook Air consistently wins Consumer Reports award for the most reliable laptop on the market.

Also there are many security features and differences in architecture that make MacOS inherently more secure and more stable - thread isolation, proper sandboxing, GateKeeper etc. Many people are happy to use inferior/ more expensive hardware because of all the problems they’ve had with windows 10.

Great software, terribly out of date hardware.

The thing is all this inferior hardware non sense argument. What's the point of having a more advanced hardware that still struggles as there is no proper sync between the hardware and software due to the software built by Microsoft and the processor by intel for example and it's all put together by Sony or Asus or Acer or or in the same way as android is done by google yet bundled together by different companies none of which talk to each other
There is no cohesion
Which is why the "inferior" apply stuff still works 5 years down the line while Microsoft has a shelf life of half of that before it starts being buggy. I owned 6 laptops always the same issue

The main reason for buying Apple is because of OS X and its unique software application and functional purpose and Apple environment. Anyone else using it for other reasons buy it for their own personal reasons.

If there are haters, ane there are in this and other personal choices, then it is the way (some of) the British people are nurtured to hate and to gain brownie points or personal satisfaction for hate ("likes" on social network) when they just simply disagree with or hold a different view from others for their personal choices. Then there is no way to stop these folks whose personal choice is to wallow in hate arising from others having differences in opinion.

I'm not surprised as at this point they have had the best part of a decade to perfect it. It's not as if laptops from other manufacturers have a high rate of failure - I have an Acer, Sony and Lenovo and all are over two years old and in great working order.

Alot of issues people have with Windows are third party programs - a clean install of Windows is as robust as OSX, maybe more so at this point.

Evidently if you absolutely must have OSX then you are left with little choice (Apple has made your mind up for you) and it's a good deal by default although if your willing to pay more for OSX then your probably willing to pay more to buy from a reputable retailer.

I sort of agree, but also disagree. Windows 10 is an incredibly bloated piece of software that stills incorporates plenty of legacy components and frameworks dating back to early 90s. It’s also true that macOS is more optimised and lean especially when compared to windows 10 which includes two separate subsystems - the legacy one and the ‘modern’ one (this is why you have two ‘control panels’, one called settings and one actual control panel with overlapping features). It’s a mess.

I do think however that some of their hardware decisions are very questionable no matter how ‘optimised’ their system is. Selling a premium laptop at this price range with a sub-1080 TN display is inexcusable and is done to protect the sales of the more expensive MacBook Pro. 128GB drive is also not what I’d hope to find in a laptop like this.

No one is hating anything?

Unless you must use OSX (for what ever reason) then buying a MacBook Air is not a good deal as the competition hasn't only caught up they have overtaken Apple.

A low res screen is not a reason to vote cold. This is a deal for a 2017 MacBook air, not a specs comparison or review competition.
So basically, for people wanting a MacBook Air, this is a deal so it must be hot.

I'm interested to know if it has a £ sign on the keyboard though.

That sounds like a slow PC or a hardware fault as Word opens on all my Windows 10 PCs almost instantly. I would do a reinstall - often manufacturers third party adds cause issues.

Does that mean if someone posts a deal on a 60 inch Samsung whatever for £3000 then voting cold because an LG whatever is better at £2000 is invalid? I mean they don't use the same OS either.

I think it's perfectly valid to compare any product to its competition otherwise almost every laptop (or product) would be considered a hot deal.

That's a load of bs right there. Apple cannot not optimise Mac OS to the level that they optimise iOS, simply because they use Intel CPUs and I guarantee that Intel will not have disclosed the full details of their architecture to Apple. Why? Because Apple also design their own CPUs and as such are a competitor to Intel.

Yes i am i own a company in HK that I didn't know about and I have been posting deals on HUD for many years now none of them to do with my company that u are accusing me of owning. Hilarious!
I am not a seller but I will challenge the same old boring argument of Microsoft based laptops are advanced and Apple is an inferior product yet by all accounts the most desirable product worldwide seems to be Apple based on many categories
A Ford Fiesta has a wifi system and auto park etc all the advanced gadgets but an Audi doesn't yet its 5 times the price
Can u compare an Audi to a Ford

I have had two iMac's and had hardware issues with both of them - one was the screen and the other was the graphics card. I certainly haven't found them to be more reliable than other good brands.

Third party software can be bad in OSX and Windows - hardly the fault of the OS. I dont know anyone who has had a virus on Windows in years - it's very rare. Obviously you can get Trojans but so can any OS that lets you Install unchecked apps - just use common sense.

I find some people who use Mac's complacent because they think they are somehow immune to issues of every other PC OS which can be more dangerous.

Not sure about that graph, doesn't differentiate between premium and cheapo consumer laptops and business laptops. E.g. Lenovo sell cheapo laptops at bottom rock prices but also expensive rock solid (ThinkPad) business laptops, those sconumer laptops are usually less reliable and break/wear out.
Usually the more expensive models have better build quality so will last longer and are less likely to go wrong (with the exception of Microsoft maybe, certain models are rumoured to have high failure rates, like the Surface pro 4 and the initial batches of Surface Book)
