Just needed to highlight the fact that it has the same resolution as the model from 2010 and uses a 5th gen Intel processor.

Its the absolute runt of the MacBook litter and should be avoided.

This was £100 cheaper at Amazon last week. It's really not a good deal for the specs at this price.

It’s a great Apple laptop for lower power users. 90% of people will barely max out the ability of this laptop. I have a 015 model and it’s done me very well and is still used daily.

If you need a super power horse then this isn’t for you but most people don’t need that sort of machine

Wow that was an amazing price then.
This is a good deal. The air models are meant to be slightly lower powered in favour of greater portability.

I wouldn't touch an Apple laptop but it's a good price
I wish they would reduce the Pros again. Looks like here, John Lewis etc have put the prices back up to match Apple

I’m not being negative towards negative comments I’m being defensive towards trolls. But I did a quick search on camel camel and indeed it was that price. I also searched and couldn’t find it on here. Thanks for the heads up

^^^^ this not worth buying now the resolution and specs are not good.
This is a difficult one, because it's a good deal based on the retail price, but this particular computer is very, very bad value for money. Better option would be the base level MacBook Pro 13". If you can't stretch to paying that, I'd suggest getting a Windows laptop instead. This MacBook Air is very old technology and I would imagine the line will be discontinued within the next few months.
£689 at HDEW Cameras right now
Just to advise that Amazon £100 cheaper offer was never in stock so was just a theoretical better deal. Anyone that managed to order one is sat with a back order with no prospective delivery date.

This is a decent deal for the Air, leaving aside any argument regarding it's specs.

As always, it's a grey import ( usually HK )with non uk keyboard.

If you are a Sainsbury's employee or anyway can use a Sainsbury's staff discount card don't forget you can get 10% off at Argos too and the discount can be applied online as well now.

Could u apply both codes though?
Apples operating system in my opinion is better, but this laptop is terrible. It's low powered for low power users, but if you're a low power user, then you can get a high spec windows PC for this. And if you're a low power user, you won't really see much benefit using the macOs vs windows. Voting cold based on the onus this isn't good value for money, at all

I don't see why not. I could try and see if it lets me apply it so I can confirm.

Edit: Can't try as none in stock in my town or other postcode I tried.

Hello, confirm it works.

It accepts both MAC10 and the staff discount code.

You can't. It needs to be used from the employee's argos account as you have to link them before you can use the discount online and they verify online.

Ah rats
Wouldn't touch an i5 with a bargpole .. i mean, we're in the 21th century.. an i7 is a minimum requirement as is 8gb/500gb..

Cold for the above reasons.

Sorry.

Hugely superior specification on this for less, just as well made too.

I know it's windows, and before flaming me, I know it does not run OSx officially, however it might unofficially? Check the forums.

I don't see why they can't. They just don't really care about giving it a real upgrade.

He's an offensive idiot. My point was I have successfully achieved this in the past, although a pain initially to get going they run well and updated just fine. If it's possible then that's a lot of spec for the money.

It is more hassle than I'd choose to go through since I don't need to use the OS but I know some people find that a good option to avoid the higher than normal hardware costs.
The next Macbook refresh will undoubtedly make the range all quad cores, the likes of these will be left behind pretty quickly in terms of performance with Mac OS updates. Unless you have a severe need for one of these, it's worth waiting a few months until April/May because of the increase in performance alone. This doesn't perform that well on the current high sierra release, I can't imagine it holding up well in the next few years.
Does "mac10" work on all of Argos' macbooks?
Saw the screen diffrence to retina screen on Pro, better to add few £ and go for Pro

There's nothing wrong with an i5 unless you're doing heavy work. The processor is not the problem with this laptop.

As others have said the screen is poor. It's a TN panel not IPS and the resolution is low. The only reason it's still on sale is to try and cater for customers who want a Mac but won't pay for the 12" retina MacBook.

If you've spent any time looking at high resolution screens on phones, tablets or other laptops this will not be acceptable.
Well that’s interesting. The actual troll in the thread is the OP

Lol in non gaming laptop they're mainly both dual core and the difference in real world usage is minimal, practically unnoticeable for basic/light users... You sound like someone who just goes blindly after specs.

A 500GB HDD is not the same as having an SSD, which is more expensive because it is a lot faster and doesn't break as easily.
At this price point you won't get 500GB of SSD and that goes for Windows laptops as well.

Yeah, it's behind spec-wise but it has a long battery life, it's light and has MacOS so ideal for someone who is a light user who doesn't want Windows and isn't fussed about resolution.

A 5th generation processor isn't gonna bother someone who just browses or uses Office.

There are Chromebooks with inferior performance but newer processors which cost £500 and you can't do with them all that you can do on a normal OS.

Also notice it has all legacy ports compared to the new models.

The old Pro is noticeably bigger and heavier than both the Air and new Pro models instead so if you want max portability and all the ports you only have the Air to look at in the Mac world.

I went with the entry level 13'' Pro because I wanted a nice resolution and it's really not that much heavier either. Very portable actually. I wasn't fussed about the lack of ports either.
