nice price, cheaper than any of the apple refurbs at the mo.

Good price. Costco C & C (you need to be members) had macbook white
for about £745(inclusive of VAT), but with 2.4 Ghz, 2GB Ram, 160Gb HDD and 2 year warranty (90 day money back gurantee).

Good price and good spec for this macbook. shame it won't come with SL installed but that's only £25 from Apple.

Was looking for one of these at a good price to stop me using my MBP as an everyday machine.

Thanks OP

(now let the mac vs pc debate open...as always)

Can you still buy these in black?

new with higher specs £644 via edu link(works for non students as well)

store.apple.com/uk_…MTY

also includes 3 yrs applecare and SL

no

Anyone know where I can get a cheaper price than on the official site for an Imac?

Also is the only student discount at the moment a rebate for an Itouch?

Before everyone says this is still too expensive and Macs are lame, note the Macbook equivalent that Dell makes is just shy of £800. These are not the same as your £350 laptop, you get what you pay for, be it a Mac or a high end Dell.

Voted cold, as boothy has linked above, there is a high spec laptop direct from Apple that's a few quid cheaper.

Also, the link doesn't seem to work. Or is that just me?

think if you buy a machine 3months up to the SL release you get it for a reduced rate. Mate mentioned £7 earlier.

Be prepared for the top case to crack at the front, either side. Very unsightly and uncomfortable on the wrists. Apple will replace within warranty but refuse to cover after that even though it's an issue affecting a percentage of them that make the 360 RROD problem look paltry!

i use to look at macs and drool, they looked so cool and i wanted one so badly.
i used a mac, hated it. just shows how good apples marketing is.
i hated windows too so i was even thinking about linux.

but then windows 7 came along, with a nice powerful pc its just awesome.

If you have the cash & want a mean machine, it is better to buy a macbook pro rather than this obselete white model.
If you are looking for something with looks and a smaller budget - go for a toshiba or asus netbook. ( The new Toshiba NB205 has a 9 hour battery )

Don't take this in a bad way but how old are you?

Tenex;6105918

Mine's almost 2 years old, no cracking anywhere.

Mine splintered and finally cracked under on the right hand, just where the ridge in the lid hits the palmrest. Now I have a lovely 5cm by 0.4cm gap, to say nothing of the many cracks around the fragile fan outlet and hinges.

The Macbooks are just about the worst designed notebooks Apple has ever foisted on an unsuspecting public.

Out of the ten or so Macbooks I've purchased since they came out, all of them have cracked without exception. The cases that they replaced them with seemed thicker and stronger then the original ones so they did make an improvement in production at some point.

Mine's the same age and perfectly fine too!

I realised you weren't being serious with your comment when I saw your comment on the PS3 slim thread. Nobody out of their teens talks seriously like that.

Do they not check in any way whether you are a student or not? Is it 'safe' to buy using this discount?

Brother just called from Gatwick Duty Free before going on hols. Macbook pro 13 inch available for £780 + £6 delivery (I think it was from Dixons or PC World). Forgot to ask how much the macbook (white) was, proabably rrp less 15%.
