Apple MacBook Pro 13" with 256GB SSD use code APPLE for additional 5% and also maybe Quidco / TCB if that works with PCWorld Business (?). Apple store price £1408.99 but bear in mind new models may be announced next Monday at WWDC.

Or you could buy a future in design with that much money. Hate or love it, unlike samsung(an example) you can actually book in and meet a person to get your laptop fixed. Granted this wont be for everyone as apple cannot cater for every Tom,dick and Harry in all of England but the vast majority can take a cheap £3.50 train/bus to their apple store.

Also with retina display you are forced to spot the tiniest errors in detail that you wouldn't find in a typical laptop(720).

Either way it's a lot of money but its an investment if you work with it day in day out

You can also choose 3-7 working day delivery to save another £4!

The retina MacBooks do have tremendous displays but the worst bit is the complete lack of upgradeability and serviceability - if for some reason a part of this computer fails down the line outside of warranty, it's pretty much throw it away and replace the entire system. The mainboard is all integrated including the CPU, memory and other components - at least with 'standard' machines you can change the RAM, SSD, CPU and other industry-standard parts.

And yet it still doesn't run Office properly (not 100% compatible with the latest version), can't run MS Project, Visio, Access and the list goes on.

It makes me laugh when Mac users tell me how well it can run Windows. Why not just buy a Windows machine of comparable spec for half the price?

Oh, and booking in to see a grinning clown in an Apple T-Shirt who knows the square root of f*** all is not my idea of support

Apple fan boys are so funny.

Not everybody who buys a macbook pro automatically becomes a designer you know, lol, its a lot of money, and tbh 720p or 1080p is enough for a 13" screen, you don't need to pay over £1000 for a laptop with "retina display"

Absolutely a ripoff, i could buy a computer with an Amd 8 core bulldozer (good for photos hope and stuff) and a good graphics card and 32/64gb of ram custom made for less than this.

In my opinion this is bs

Windows fanboys are equally amusing, it's a bloody computer people get the one that suits you best and to hell with everyone else.

I was a mac engineer (not a shop "genius") but someone who actually ripped boards to bits to repair them, I like Macs but oddly enough my gaming PC is Windows based, my laptop is linux, my 7" tablet is a Nexus 7, my wife has an iPad 3 and my daughter has an ipod touch.

Get what suits you, there is no "best" device.

Well I knew as an Apple product it would be voted cold, but maybe it helped someone. It's sad the vitriolic, overly opinionated and perhaps jealous sentiment that this site has now attracted.

Apple has been hugely successful and it has created a self evident market position and this I think was a good deal.

This is something I think the mods need to think about as this site evolves, balancing a good deal for a brand vs the no name ' value ' alternatives. No one can say Apple is a low quality brand.

Oh, and BTW rbrookes .. If an Apple support guy in a T-shirt did know the square root of f*** all then you should listen, learn, and appreciate, hard as that might be for you, as one thing is certain ... you don't know it !

Oh I listened and learnt that he was a kid 10 minutes out of college and knew the square root of f*** all. I went into an Apple store with a serious set of questions that were treated with disdain and contempt by the shiny happy brigade who couldn't answer any of them with solid fact.

It's a pity that people pander to their Magpie like needs for a shiny piece of tat through marketing hype and listen to these ill informed 'experts'.

The votes and decreasing share price show that people are boring of Apple and their insular and bullying business practices.

Fu***** insane for a mid range laptop oO

I voted hot because right now you can't buy cheaper elsewhere - I check for Apple, in particular Macbook pro , deals every single day so thanks for posting even though its almost inevitable that nearly all Macbook deals are, sadly, voted cold by the users on here.

Code doesn't seem to work

If you are inferring that I am a windows fan boy then I'd like to say I'm not, my chilling computer (medium range used for everyday things) uses windows but my real work computer (good spec) is linux. Although I do prefer windows over apple

Yep, looks like that extra 5% code has now finished :-(

Tekky ,
I am looking for 13in MacBook pro retina with 256gb SSD Ideally but 128ssd may be ok .
Any places other than checking pc world daily for a deal would be great if you want to let us know.
You won,t have to worry about anyone above buying one by the sounds of it.

I think their hilarious too mate, those 'geniuses' are classic. I went in there for a laugh stoned as we always do and after asking be of the dunces all spotty and lame if the s3 was a good phone, he pulls out his Samsung and acts cool saying...... I only work here mate, it's money. Hell, we bought popcorn for the laugh home. The fact theirs a 'genius' in store shows how clouded, deluded and nieve these freaks are.

These are the sort of people who go and see the Dyson doctor at John Lewis........

Final word..... Nieve.
